They've had three different stories on here that have been about David's breakfast habits, and all three have been lies. At this point, I'm not convinced David Mitchell even eats breakfast.
And yet even no breakfast would be better than the abomination that Miles Jupp has each morning

The most thing I like about these boys how they matured. I feel Lee became much more chill, and David since he got a child he is much more bubbly, and I never imagined putting David and bubbly in the same sentence.

I think there used to be a huge well of anxiety in his comedy rants of yesteryear, now he’s happier, the faux angry rants are no longer riddled with insecurities.

I think David's become much more adorable as he's gotten older. Marriage and parenthood has clearly made him content.
David trailing off with "I can't remember what else I was going to say" is probably one of his funniest lines on this show
Except for his recommendation to make it a trailer for the show.
"I can detect grease" - now if that is what he was asserting, that and that alone, I would say he was telling the truth. However there's more to this story.

The way David mispronounced "breakfast" at the beggining made me realise the first time that the word probably comes from "breaking the fast"
That is indeed where it comes from. My grandmother says it as if it were two separate words. To break fast.

Interestingly, the Spanish word for breakfast, "desayuno," means exactly the same thing, and this is also the origin of the French "déjeuner" (which became lunch, whereas breakfast became petit-déjeuner), all variations of "to break/undo the fast".

But also, just looked it up... have never heard of a greasy spoons before. EVER, then I look it up and of course people in Traitorous Toronto use it. Why isn't it just called a cheap cafe or diner or something.
We rarely say Diner. Café yes. These types of 'Café' are usually along the high street. When you enter you can smell the grease and fat from deep fat fryer used. There's usually 9 or 10 tables all in line with one another with salt + pepper on the table and red/brown sauce. You can usually get a decent fried Brekfast and cup of tea (or coffee) for around 5 or 6 quid.
"It lost a Michelin star last week, so now he calls it a "greasy spoon"".
Atmosphere's never been the same since they introduced social distancing

The show was so much funnier before covid. It's like the separation of the desks made it worse, somehow.
Since Ralph plays a police detective on TV it's a good thing that he got it right.

i dont think david knows what kind of breakfast might be added to a menu as a regular item. if i ordered a meal ANYWHERE and they gave me a meal that was like 50% grilled mushroom caps i would be so upset about it. why didn't he just make it like a really mushroomy omelette or breakfast sandwich. who in their right mind eats 4 FULL MUSHROOM CAPS in one meal.

@@Agnes.Nutter yeah but it still has to be believeable to have it as a permanent menu item. you can have a mushroom melt or something, something that focuses on mushroom but isn't just eating 4 grilled caps

Sadly I agree. The pandemic seemed to be the turning point. I also feel like the space between each person really affects their chemistry.
@@lucaslorenz8812 I agree too, although I will say I think this series is a lot more fun than the last one. The last one just seemed depressing, like they were going through the motions. They seem to be enjoying themselves again this series. I do sort of hope this show goes on forever, but if it does end soon then we can all agree it will go down as one of, if not the greatest panel show of all time. So many classic moments. Endlessly rewatchable.
I think they'd have to change the team captains to keep it fresh. There's only so much Lee and David can truth or lie about!
@@tomcanningmusic4923 The team captains, however old and tired they may be, are what keep the show going. David, Lee and Rob are the reason the show is so good. An odd Bob or Greg or Claudia may appear and do wonderful things, but it's the regulars that keep the level of the show so consistently high.

Genuinely curious: why are there so many Welsh people on UK TV? There are only a few more than 3M citizens in Wales compared to 65M in England, yet they are everywhere on TV. I'm not complaining, Wales seems to have an overabundance of lovely talented ladies and funny entertainers. :-) Did I just answer my question?
