It always blows me away that their guitarist, Brian May, isn't just one of the best guitarists of all time and actually hand-built his guitar that he played in the band, but he's also a Doctor of Astrophysics - which he was in college for when the band formed, and then went back decades later to finish his doctoral thesis on "The Motions of Interplanetary Dust," which earned him his PhD in 2007. Also, if you really wanna hear his best guitar solo work, it doesn't get better than 'Brighton Rock' with some killer falsetto work by Freddie. I'm so glad I got to see them live twice back in the day.
More Queen!! Freddie is the only frontman I’ve ever seen in over 40 concerts who literally controls the crowd, beginning to end with his immeasurable charisma and talent. The backing vocals of of Brian May and Roger Taylor, and near perfection of John Deacon’s bass guitar round out one of the greatest bands of all time.
Definitely not a talent unique to Freddy. For example, Prince absolutely controlled the crowd. I will say, however, that it was more common to have front men who could do so back then than it is today.
@@ronnix23 I'd have to look up videos Maybe things were different in the uk. A music journalist said she had never seen someone interact/ control an audience like Freddie did. The story behind that song is amazing - as told by Brian May, Freddie was weak and in his final months of his battle with AIDS…Brian said to Freddie he was worried about the high notes and didn’t want Freddie to strain himself and Freddie said, “Don’t worry, I’ll f***ing nail it, darling”. He downed a couple of shots of vodka and out came that performance. His delivery of that song is truly everything and the lyrics are so poignant given his fight with the disease. Freddie was one of the very very few artists that once on stage was a completely different person to off it. But once on he had the audience under his spell and they would be taken on a magical journey.
YAY-Queen, the best along with Led Zeppelin. I compare them in the fact that all 4 members of the band were equally important to the music like Zep. Freddie was the frontman with his vocals but they would not be Queen without the expertise of all 4 of them.
The two bands that are most often mentioned as the greatest rock band of all time on here and online generally (The Beatles were the greatest band of all time, of course) Led Zeppelin and Queen both had massive sales figures and huge influence. Also both are often mentioned as having created the greatest rock song of all time, Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody.
Might I recommend "Save Me" from Rocks Montreal 1981. It was a new song off the Game album and was a real crowd pleaser when I saw them at MSG in 1980.

It amazes every time I hear the fact that Queen Greatest Hits ( The first one ) released in 1981 has spent over 1000 weeks or every week in the last 41 years, in the UK album charts!
The bass line on this is amazing. I was far away from some speakers playing it this week and literally could hear nothing but the bass (and still recognized it).
A beautiful love song Freddie sings is "You Take My Breath Away", 1976 Hyde Park. A free concert Queen did. Just Freddie and a piano. He tells the audience that they will want to hear this and it gets very quiet until the end of the song.

Queen created such a great repertoire that over the years amounted to a wonderful variety of memorable songs that people will continue to enjoy for many years to come. Their early work set the tone with classics like Now I'm Here, Seven Seas of Rhye, Tie Your Mother Down, Killer Queen.
This song has such a place in my heart. I performed improv for about 10 yrs & this was the song my troupe would start our shows with. Our cue to run up the stairs & onto stage was the 1st "Don't stop me now".
David Draiman - lead singer of Disturbed said in an interview that Freddy Mercury is his selection for rock God and that every band front man strives to be like Freddy
My favorite Queen song. Such an amazing composition, the vocal arrangements are awesome, Freddy's voice is in perfect form as he's singing his own anthem. The piano carries the energy and Brian's solo is 🔥
Styx with Denis DeYoung, Elton John, early David Bowie, and Genesis with Peter Gabriel all had a strong theatrical nature. Some would put Kiss on the list, but they are all theatrics w/o much substance.
I once ranked all of my favorite Queen songs.. and this one kept pushing to the top of the list, surpassing all the other favorites.. time after time.. until I finally said.. yep.. that's it. This is my all-time favorite.

I prefer the earlier stuff and those tracks are all stormers
This song has such a place in my heart. I performed improv for about 10 yrs & this was the song my troupe would start our shows with. Our cue to run up the stairs & onto stage was the 1st "Don't stop me now".
“Now I’m Here” live from Wembley 1986 is a great song/performance! 🔥
Somebody to love and another one bites the dust by Queen 👍🥰
Great reaction guys. It's impossible for me to hear this song without thinking of the "Shaun of the dead" scene.
David Draiman - lead singer of Disturbed said in an interview that Freddy Mercury is his selection for rock God and that every band front man strives to be like Freddy
"Now I'm Here" is another excellent Queen song awaiting your critique! Headphones are a must for this track, you can thank me later.
Love this song. Queen was the total rage in high school. Dig those crunchy guitar licks. That's the 70s to me.
You should definitely watch Freddie Mercury's classic song BARCELONA where he duets with a special female artist. It is epic.
I think this is my favorite Queen song--it always makes me dance in my chair!
One of my favorite Queen songs! You can’t help but have a good time when listening to this song- an absolute mood booster!
My favorite Queen song. Such an amazing composition, the vocal arrangements are awesome, Freddy's voice is in perfect form as he's singing his own anthem. The piano carries the energy and Brian's solo is 🔥
Theatricality is the word you are looking for. That's what Glam is all about.
2:33 fun fact: he was having such a good time and you stopped him there xD
Styx with Denis DeYoung, Elton John, early David Bowie, and Genesis with Peter Gabriel all had a strong theatrical nature. Some would put Kiss on the list, but they are all theatrics w/o much substance.
I once ranked all of my favorite Queen songs.. and this one kept pushing to the top of the list, surpassing all the other favorites.. time after time.. until I finally said.. yep.. that's it. This is my all-time favorite.
You should try some Dr. Hook. "When you're in love with a beautiful woman" would be a good one to star with.
Wow 🥰 beautiful Freddie ❤️ Freddie Mercury ❤️
Have you watched "Bohemian Rhapsody"? Rami Malek won the Best Actor for it.
Their musicianship is superb- great drumming and guitar work to complement the vocals.
We need some “Hammer To Fall” or “Keep Yourself Alive” or “Killer Queen”
