Ah... Volo's Guide to Waterdeep is a classic book. Really nice call to use that for when you need an establishment of some sort. That book is chock full of good stuff. :-) I also love that the guy on the cover (I guess Volo?) is actually old-school D&D artist, Clyde Caldwell. :-) I guess he was the model for that or something? lol
Thank you KabukiKid. I did not know that about the cover art. You know what's really cool? I'm going to GameHole Con in Madison, WI this weekend. I get to meet Ed Greenwood (the author of the book) on Friday night and am going to have him sign my copy. Maybe I'll ask him about the cover as well. Thanks for watching my video. Cheers!
@@WallyDM That's super cool that you are meeting Ed Greenwood! :-D I first discovered him when he was writing stuff for Dragon Magazine, prior to the Forgotten Realms setting being released for AD&D 1e. Such an imagination! :-)
@@WallyDM Watch my video for my normal loadout. But generally if I am doing a dungeon crawl then I haul around a lot of stuff including a bag of dungeon tiles.
Thanks! This is fantastic and very helpful. I've been playing D&D for decades then my DM divorced me LOL so now I'm trying my hand at dming and it's a little overwhelming!!
Oh good! I'm glad I could help. Also, welcome to DMing! I hope you enjoy it. If you need help, advice or ideas, be sure to join our Discord. There are a lot of us DMs over there. Plenty of resources. Cheers!
man, you could have done this at half the speed...soo much cool stuff i wanted to see more footage of each piece...so much stuff ive never heard of like those cards. cool.kit
In my DM toolkit I usually have a notebook, mechanical pencils, pens, a not as portable as it should be homemade play mat, dry erase markers, my glass beads monster/NPC tokens, and more dice than anyone should ever need at one time. The play mat is a 3 foot by 4 foot sheet of clear plexiglass which I place over a hand drawn 1 inch grid of poster paper.
I love seeing these kind of videos for ideas for my solo toolkit. I love all the different decks and the Volos guide book. I do have a few sets of the story cubes and have seen another TH-camr use them to make dungeon traps. I’ve now got those sand timers, the weather and direction dies and a mini whiteboard on my shopping list.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. I also use the story cubes to make dungeon traps. In fact, I think I have a few of those videos on my channel too. :-) And, you can't go wrong with those sand timers and the white board. They are really inexpensive too. Hope they serve you well. Thank you for watching, Cheers!
Thank you! I am glad you liked it. The tool and equipment lists are something I printed out on yellow paper and laminated with clear packing tape. :-) Cheers!
The rpg hobby is only for people who enjoy collection quests IRL. Definitely got a lot of cool stuff there. I had no idea some of this existed. A friend of mine had poker dice too. What a flashback seeing those. And what's up with those tv character cards (your puzzle pieces)? Happy gaming!
lol, yep. I seem to collect so much RPG stuff and use very little of it. I enjoy it though. And yeah, those I've had those poker dice since the 1980s. Oh, the character cards are puzzle pieces I created for the Lamplighter Inn puzzle that can be found in the Journal of Puzzle Encounters. Thank you for watching, cheers!
Thank you! I've been DMing since the 1980s, but, this version of my DM Tool Kit has only been around for a couple of years now. My in-person games are not at my house, so I take this toolkit with me. Glad you liked the video. Cheers!
Wow you got a lot of fun toys that you can use for dm! I'm jealous of your dice collection! I only have like 3 sets of dice and I rarely play dnd in real life, since I'm mostly a online dm and most of my friends live further away from me! Where do you get that werid dice you showed? Also dose online dice collection count? I got it from dnd beyond since they give it away every month if you subscribe to them. I think I got a little overwhelm by your collection of cards and cost a lot that I will never use them
I believe online dice count, for sure. :-). And, yep, I have a lot of fun toys, but, I've been slowly adding things for several years. A lot of items were Kickstarters I backed or novelty items I picked up along the way. Which weird dice were you interested in? Thank you for watching! :-)
@@isazainal778 I'm working on an idea for them right now, actually. I don't have full details, yet, but I will share what I have in a video when I feel confident on how to use them. With that in mind, I do have a Puzzle video ready to go for them. I should be recording it in a few weeks. Look to see these Tarot cards again at the end of September. ;-)
I guess I have connections? lol. But, hmmm, let's see. The cards I found at GameHoleCon a few years ago in the vendor section. Met the owners and chatted with them. The team that creates the Dice Trays reached out to me to do a review and I accepted. And the puzzle book, well, I wrote it. :-) But yeah, this is a collection of things I've found useful over several years of gaming. Thank you for watching the video, cheers!
lol, do keep in mind that this is an accumulation over several years. I keep adding things as I find them. And, yep, I use quite a few things on the computer too. And, my phone. They are wonderful resources now-a-days.
Love the sand timers! Just bought some myself which will mostly be used for combat :)
Nice! They should do you well. My players always panic when they see them, lol. Good luck!
Thanks for putting out the challange to me but I feel that my video would be a little bit different since my DM kid is just a bag full of random cr*p
Folks want to see that random cr*p. Well, I know I do. lol.
Man I'm drooling over those cards.
lol, glad I could introduce you to a few new tricks and hidden gems. Cheers!
Me too!!!
Nice I just started playing with friends and I usually do DM so this is really helpful

I really like those dice themes!
I'll be posting on Twitter later. I have 4 more sets that are supposed to arrive today, lol. Cheers, my friend!

I'd love to know where you got those fancy 12 siders that have D6 twice. I saw those in a Seth Skorkowsky video as well and I'd love to get some.
