Making adjustments to the clutch pedal and readjusting the reverse lockout made it WAY smoother. I think the clutch is great, it's just adjusted really weird stock. And I have the mtech spring as well.
As a GR86 manual UK owner I can attest to some of the clutch/gearbox issues you mention, and it is not an easy car to drive smoothly at lower speeds around town, it does take some skill. The flywheel/clutch is fairly aggressive and seems to want to suck up the revs quite quickly out of 1st and 2nd gear causing jerky shifts, so I find that you need to give more gas during the 1st and 2nd gear changes at lower speeds for a smoother experience and be very smooth with the clutch uptake after the bite at lower speeds. It has honestly taken me months to smoothly shift this car at lower speeds between the first 2/3 gears. At higher speeds it's much better and you can just quickly shift without having to finesse anything.
Wow.. that's surprising. I hadn't owned a manual until I bought my 86 last week. Haven't stalled in it once. The clutch is ultra forgiving. Not trying to flex, just honestly a little surprised. Getting into 2nd is difficult though, I agree with that.
I have never understood what a good clutch felt like. Besides a clutch from a brand new car or just a brand new clutch. I also never really understood clutch biting points either. When I drove, it was always by sound eventually by feel because timing.
I had the chance to test drive a used GR86 w/ 6k miles and the clutch had little resistance and the shifter felt loose, making it difficult to tell what gear I was in. I know it might be a silly question, but does it feel like this brand new??? cause 6k miles isn’t a lot, but there also a possibility that the previous owner abused the hell out of it
I've had mine for a little over a year and to me it feels very tight and secure, i've only ever driven one other manual car before (chevy sonic (shitty ass car)) though so not much to compare it to. I got it brand new with 4 miles on it and im at almost 16k rn and nothing but good things to say about it, maybe you tested a lemon or the previous driver wasnt the best?

When you grab that clutch stick so good you need a cigarette after

It's both good and bad. There were just some bad decisions about engagement point and spring tension that are easily fixed after the fact.
bro the comment about first to second gear is so real. it either whips u back or pulls you forward. it's hard fr.
received my us citizenship in the mail 10 minutes after finishing the video, thanks matt
God bless

love the videos bro, you’re the goat of pov drives in the gazoo mobile. hilarious asf
Thanks for answering my question Matt
It means a lot since i want to buy gr86 someday.
My brother
i think it's because the massive rev hang from 1st to 2nd, the other changes don't really have that much rev hang
MTEC clutch fixed all my issues. Stalled it 15 times also on first time driving this car lol

I was exaggerating

Same as the other guy. Mine was always smooth and engaging. Took some getting used to bc I learned on it.
