The TW5 is far superior. I recently had the chance to compare 4 of each side to side and the TW5s definitely outperformed the TW3s. TW5 is way more powerful and its sound quality is also one step above. You need to use clean power to bring up the best out of them.
Raise your low pass filter to 80 hz. Everything else seems fine. I was thinking of this exact setup for my 13’ Sierra cree cab. How’s the bass in person? Is it bearly enough, or more than that? Considering this or the 8 W3 microsub ported box. I have an RD 900/5 do I can power either one. Assuming they both fit under the seat.
What will bumping it up to 80 hz do? As it’s broken in some it has gotten a lot better. Bass is nice where I want it but I’m really debating about getting a bass-knob so I can adjust on some songs. It’s really song dependent to answer that question but you can feel it pretty solid. I crank it up so I get everything and I’m extremely satisfied. It’s not much when I don’t want it to and it’s plenty enough when I do. I know JL has impressed a lot of people for a long time so that’s why I went with it. And as a new JL Audio owner, I can say it’s fantastic.

A lot of ppl don’t know but jl audio’s newer amps like that one you’re installing does not require a loc it has dc offset and signal sensing which uses your rca to detect signal and therefore turning your amp on and off
Were u satisfied with 1 subwoofer or does it have you wanting to install a second? Im being cheap and wanting to install 1 Tw3 but i have a feeling ill want another down the road.
Kinda depends on how much bass you really like, for me the one has been perfect! I'm looking into installing a bass knob and potentially a 5 (or 6-channel, forgot so not sure which one exactly) amp to give my rockford fosgate door speakers the true power they need to turn it up a notch. I gotta turn the volume up for the sub to really hit hard on some songs, which explains wanting a bass knob. And, even with my satisfaction with the bass level, I want more treble, so installing that amp is the key to achieving that. But that amp is $600 and not in the budget right now haha.
You should add spacers to your amp mounts to raise it up so it can breath. There's holes on the bottom to cool the amp when it gets hot and laying it flat on the carpet there being blocked. And grounding to the metal floor with self tappers isn't ideal, you should always bolt it to the frame or something that is already bolted to the frame like a seat belt mounting bolt or seat mount bolts.
Good points! I didn't know (or see) those small holes you're talking about but I don't doubt that. I'll keep the spacing and grounding tips in mind for my next setup! I've since moved this setup into another truck
@@hunterrwiilson Focal is a step up in the audio world for mids and highs. I used them in my truck till I swapped to Sinfoni. I run Focals on my motorcycle now, and people are blown away. I do run two JL10TW3 subs in my Tundra, and they sound amazing.

It is a literal perfect fit, I am very satisfied with its fitment. But since all GM trucks, '19 and up received the body changes, I would measure the dimensions of the sub and under your seat with the seat in the down position before purchasing.
What year is your Sierra? I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado Z71 LTZ Black Widow and I'm wondering how this will fit under my back seat? I think 2014-2018 all the same.
It’s a 2014. The ‘14-18 Sierra/Silverado models are identical besides some different aesthetics on the outside. So it should fit, and depending on what type of all-weather floor mats you may have.
@@hunterrwiilson ya Was always my dream truck I bought a 2019 brand new then slt premium plus blacked out sick . Transmission went out at 10,000 miles then the remanufactured one they put it still jerked lol when 3 yr warranty was up got a es 350 now took a 6 grand loss but happy 🤣
@@jr.zz7162 my factory unit doesn’t come with those RCA plug-ins, so I had to use the output converter to be able to connect my amp to the factory head unit.

It was low to mid $800s. If I had to guess maybe $830-850. Wasn’t terribly expensive but we are talking good quality JL equipment. And then my personal installation takes off probably $100+ of what it would cost if I didn’t do it myself

@@hunterrwiilson 80hz for sub is also THX standard for subwoofer setpoint. Most people from what I have seen prefer their subs lower than 80hz as 80hz is certainly higher frequency bass. 60hz is not too low in my opinion. If you have good midbass in the door speakers then let them handle down to 60hz and the subs can handle 60hz and lower. There is no wrong or right answer but thinking 80hz is better than 60hz is a matter of personal preference. If you head unit allows it simply turn off full range speakers and only listen to the bass, flip between 60hz and 80hz. Sometimes the higher HZ makes a sub sound worse.
I have 3 JL Audio 10TW3’s running on a JL XD1000 amp at 2.67 ohms sealed in my 2021 Chevy 3500 Duramax Crewcab. They aren’t loud enough to keep up with my Audiotec Fischer Helix V8 DSP amp with Blam Multix 3 way with 8” in the front doors and Blam 6.5 rear feels. All passive not junk crossovers or amp adjustments. All DSP controlled with laptop. I’m going to go with Audiomobile Evo’s either 4 10’s or 3 12’s at 1500 watts with a Helix P one. If you think your truck is loud and sounds good you are not even close to hearing amazing sound. Your at the entry level. Keep at it and learning you will get there but it costs the $$$$$. Also if your into real sound don’t have loud exhaust. Makes no sense.

What you zip-tied the output line converter to was your antenna cable. When you lose AM & FM reception that will be why.

I bought a JL Audio 10W3v3-2. It says it can handle 500w RMS. I was planning on 300w to push the woofer. Do you have any idea if that's enough?
