Hello everyone and welcome back to Age of Wonders 4! Today is a joyous occasion that marks the return of the dragons when Smaug acquires a full blown Alliance with the Dragon-Queen Alexstrasza at 1:01:07, at least it makes for a good story. The "production" of Young Drakes begins at 1:06:17 after an eternity of research, so expect to see a full stack of them soon. The memetastic glory will be worth the Imperium upkeep, right? RIGHT?! That Bastion gave his life so that there was an opening for the Obsidian dragon in Smaug's Army. The Obsidian dragon is probably going to die violently, but it gets to be included. Also, your throne city may be in the middle of the map, but it's still in a pretty good place. It's mostly surrounded by mountains, with a few choke points for entry (most of said choke points being controlled by your other cities).
Truly an honorable sacrifice, and you're right. Alexstrasza may be using me as a meatshield, but I'm a very well positioned meatshield. (:

Hmm, that's true. The only reason The Stranger would assist or even permit Smaug's action was if there was a greater evil that needed to be destroyed. Considering the next series is Iratus' return, that's enough reason for me. :D

Blint Eastwood Was a noble comrade to the Stranger and shall once more be courted. Though, I do believe once Smaug brings about the age of materium he might try to intervene, at that point it will be too late as other greater foes would be already vanquished.
I mean, think of the alliance between Blint, The Stranger and Smaug battling against Iratus and his ilk. A conflict of glorious proportion.
When I get the DLC the first dragon I'm going to make I want to be a red & gold one, it's people culture traits is all about gold & magic because those are the things I love the most.
How about creating realm with two teams, Blint and his allies on one side and his enemies on the other, it would be one weird Final Battle.

49:47 I think there's some debuff that's bugged.
on the combat result screen, no warrior has health below 10%. this makes me believe that the unit ended the battle suffering from some buggy debuff that counted as "immortal unit death". (google translate)
if you look before the battle he had 182 mana and after the Battle he had 142 so the Ai probably cast healing spells hence why the don't have much health lost
Gonna post some things for future playthroughs and this one
1. If you do an underground playthrough there is a spell in the materium tomes that destroys mountains even though it does not say it it can destroy bedrock underground so I would grab that when doing underground for more space I think its called earth shatter or something
2. getting a Godir hero through the Event is quite useful as if you get a wizard king hero they keep the overchannel ability they would normally have so wizard kings in the Pantheon are really nice and I think you can also get Dragon lords through it as well you just do not get any of the Economic bonuses and I am assuming you do not get the casting points a wizard king normally gives
3. I do not know much about the Infinite Dragon flight but if you are gonna be doing an astral playthrough here is a fun thing you can do it would require getting 6 nature affinity (you get affinity for tomes, Hero traits, Society Traits, and Unique skills on heroes such as summon animal/Assassinate/blink those skills ) during the game though so here is how it works gonna break it into steps
1. you get the devolve spell from one of the tier 4 nature tomes the one that turns a unit into a tier 1 animal
2. you get the Tome of Subjugation for the final ultimatum spell
3. find a lost wizard stack preferably without a mage bane
4. cast devolve on the lost wizard until it turns into a tier 1 animal
5. Lower the transformed animals morale until it flees by killing enemy units or casting cause despair from a tier 2 shadow tome
6 when the animal is fleeing cast final ultimatum to mind control it
7. you now have a permanent lost wizard under your control that you can put in your stacks
Some tips to make this Easier get cryomancy to get blizzard as that is a world map spell that lowers the Status resistance of the enemy army and condemning the lost wizard preferably with the world map condemn makes the lost wizard lose 5 status resistance and does not consume combat casting points which makes devolve hit more often. Tip 2 is use mystic which is what I am gonna guess your gonna use since the Tier 3 Mage unit mystic gets can give you 10 combat casting points every couple turns allowing for more casts of despair and Devolve. Last tip get tome of the doom herald for cause despair since you have to lower the morale of the lost wizard after its been turned into an animal which is quite hard without killing it cause despair allows you to do it without killing it just make sure the animal is attacking a mage not any other unit so it does not die from retaliation. just so you know this strat will let you get all units with fearless you can and cannot build yourself from lost wizards to Adult dragons and mage banes are possible to collect as well but saying it in this comment would make it too long so if you want to know let me know. Sorry if this is long I just wanted to share this as having lost wizards and other tier 5 units from this is really fun especially when you combine it with the astral Reflection spell. Excited to see more of Smaug and whatever your next series is

@@Fableheim Yeah thought I would mention it as I did an Astral Chosen Destroyers game and got my hands on a lost wizard let me just Say Lost Wizards plus astral reflections is fun as turning 1 Lost wizard too 6 is really cool

I literally finished the second ep like an hour ago lol. I love that the dragons get these cool transformations as they grow in power, and I'm really interested to see what the AI dragons end up looking like when they catch up a bit hah.
EDIT: Holy damn, those Skalds look amazing!
I'm dreadfully curious about what the AI is going to choose for their Major Transformation and I'm 100% counting on it being a ridiculous choice. (:

could it not be that the suppsed immortality units might b units that routed during combat?
That is entirely possible, but my confusion is that they're alive with 1 hp and 0 movement, which is how the Immortals and/or Resurgence mechanic works. I'm fairly certain units that flee keep whatever hp they had when they left the field.
@@Fableheim If that ever happens again we can watch the replay to see what happened to the unit is my recommendation
