      Very true. However at the same time I see they hardly innovate on the fabric. I do recognise RevolutionRace are more aimed at Summer and target a different audience. If I would be a forester, without doubt Fjallraven all the way. However, hiking/backpacking for me is Revolution Race.

    Hi Mark,
    The reason Fjallraven have the hook that way is because a number of people didn't put the hook under the protective material and put their foot into the trouser and subsequently had their big toenail ripped off. Always be careful when you place your foot into the RR wander pants, ensure the hook is tucked away mate. I almost ripped my toenail off in my Gp pro rescue pants after using the hook the previous day after forgetting to tuck it away. Hope this helps and keep up the great content.

    I’ve had the Vidda pros ( exactly the same as ones in the vid) and the RR trousers for a year or so now . I wear either of them every single day as I’m a gardener and have a small holding so I’m always in outdoor gear . The RR are the better trouser for value and fit . The knees and the crotch are starting to wear , durability and weather proof the Vidda pros are unmatched . However I do find myself grabbing the RR more often

    Hi Mark ... thanks for the detailed comparison. I think RR have taken feedback seriously as it's December '22 and I've just bought this model and find no untidiness in the stitching and more importantly the elasticated velcro closure at the ankle seems more generous...I wear a size 12 high Altberg desert tabbing boot and the velcro closures enclose my boot tops and don't ride up in movement. I tend to use Hikenture waterproof fully zipped gaiters as well and along with a thin base layer thermal bottom half this outfit becomes a winter-proof rig. Without a base layer I can imagine they'll be fine for summer as well. As an aside I much prefer the velcro closure on the panel pockets to pop closure. They seem to last well and are easily managed with gloves on. I'm impressed with the cut and comfort of this model...I'm 6 foot, over 200lbs with fairly stocky thighs and calves and am still comfortable. Also like the semi elasticated waist allowing stretching movements where everything remains in the same place ! I've bought Forest Green and will be interested to see if the colour fades or stays after a few washes. Thanks again for the upload...appreciate how much work goes into making these videos. Happy holidays. Jay

    The RR are more comparable to the Fjällräven Keb (not Vidda Pro) in terms of fit and use of stretch material. I have both the Vidda Pro and Keb, and use the Keb for hiking (i.e. walking a lot), and the Vidda for everything else in the woods. Hence, I only wax the Vidda to make them as resistent as possible, while the Kebs are more desgined for movement/breathability. I watched a few RR reviews, and I’m not sure about them. A lot of bigger outdoor channels het them for free/cooperation (with great reviews), while I’ve seen some other reviews that point out terrible stitching and quality control. It doesn’t mean RR are bad, just be careful when watching “reviews” on youtube.

      Hi and thanks for your detailed response. Funnily enough since making this video I now have the Kebs and just bought a pair of RR Gpx Pro trousers; going to do a review and comparison on them in the next couple of months as they as you point out are the most closely types of trousers. I have noticed the quality of RR gear has also improved since I made this video. I recently paid £60 in the sale for the Gpx Pros in comparison to the £220 I paid for the Fjallraven Kebs. The G1000 and finish on the Kebs is hard to beat; but I have to admit I do love these new RR trousers and have been wearing them constantly. You’ve got me motivated to do my next comparison video now. ATB Mark.

    Been walking in many places and climates (like many watching and the gentleman reviewing) and I have to go lighter and stretchier no matter what the weather especially here in the UK. I can imagine these pants being useful in really cold and dry conditions if you are fairly static. Otherwise they seem to me too warm, too inflexible and with all the seams, zips and studs just plain uncomfortable. Of course in real cold and with leggings under this would be less of a problem.

If you check out their site they have a very comprehensive guide with lots of customer reviews on fit. A colleague of mine has some RevRace trousers and loves them. They don't make them in my size, though. I take a Euro 44L in Fjallraven but having worn through several pairs of Abisko Lites simply from walking in them (they wear out at the crotch) and the same with a pair of Vidda Pro - ruined in about 3 months, and also a pair of Kebs (6 months) I'm done wasting money on anything made from G-1000. After communicating with Fjallraven about this issue and facing a blank wall of denial from them I've gone back to softshells, which don't wear themselves out just from normal use. G-1000 is useless.

      I very disappointing to hear about your experience with Fjallraven; yes they are very expensive. Can’t beat softshell I have few pairs myself; just did a review on a pair from regatta and absolutely love them. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts. ATB Mark.

      @@MarksGoneWalking Hi, and thanks for your reply. I've had a pair of Montane Terra Missions for just over a year and they've withstood an amount of use that would have ruined two or three pairs of G-1000 trousers. Still as good as new, no deterioration of the fabric inside or out. Cheaper, well-fitting and much more durable. Recommended.

    Are the Fjallraven overpriced, or was it deliberate to compare two pairs of trousers where one is twice the price of the other? It doesn't seem a completely fair comparison, although they're essentially used for the same purpose. I'd want a £150-200 pair of outdoor trousers to walk for me ;-) ...but favour the variety and fit of RR trousers.

    • @MarksGoneWalking
      @MarksGoneWalking 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe - the price comparison was the main criteria for doing the review, basically wanted to know if twice the price really meant twice the quality or half the quality if you look at it a different way. If you take a look at my latest video on the Revolution Race Wander Pros you’ll see they have really upped their game in terms of the material quality. They’re my current go trousers for almost everything outdoors; but I’m still not discounting Fjallraven just yet? (No pun intended) but to answer your question that’s how much the Fjallraven’s are
      Priced at. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. ATB Mark.

      @MarksGoneWalking ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nico; in the length pretty much the same; note these trousers are cut long so take note of the sizes. I think both do them in short options if needed. I’m a 30 leg so short 😀. In terms of quality the Fjallraven just has the lead, but since buying the GP trousers I’ve since got a pair of Wander Pro trousers from RR and they are really good. As good as my Kebs I’d say. The RR are slightly more thinner in the leg. Good luck with your search. Thanks for watching. ATB Mark. Ps if buying a pair of Revolution Race I’d go for the more expensive options with zippered leg endings so you can get them over the boot. The GPx Pro Expedition offers that feature. The GP are cheapest and do not fit over your boot.

    I own Fjällräven Barents Pro pants and tried different RR pants and I find all of them to be too narrow and too tight around my legs if i choose the right waist size.
    I am 184cm and 82kg and have normal legs (some biking, regular runner). RR just doesn't fit me comfortably. Fjällräven has the sweet spot for me.
    Moreover the pockes are way too small and tight, compared to the big pockets Fjällräven has RR is totally useless in that regard.
    Also the material is not as good.
    Well, I guess you get what you pay for.
    Btw: I own a fleece jacket and a softshell from RR and I like them a lot. I just like Fjällräven more. 😉

      Hi Nash - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. The material on these RR trousers were not as good and have faded somewhat; that said I’ve recently bought some RR Wander Pro trousers and I prefer them to Vidda Pros. I know what you mean about the length of RR as I’m not very tall and they are too long but I’ve put up with them. I note that RR have recently added a short option to their trousers range. Hi Joe - that’s very disappointing; given how much they charge. I’ve recently bought some Solognac Hunting trousers 500s i think 🤔 anyway done another review on them and for £55 they are very good for bushcraft and hiking etc. I see Revolution Race have recently brought out a short version of some of their trousers; in my opinion they were far too long before so this sorts this problem out. Good luck with finding the right trouser for you. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. ATB Mark.

      Likewise with Fjallraven trousers wearing themselves out at the seams, especially at the crotch. Several pairs. G-1000 is shit, but it's their signature material and Fjallraven are stuck with it, which is probably why they deny such an issue exists, basically shining me off when I complained about it.

    Hard to find a decent pair of trousers had a pair of revolution race norward pants they were crap for the price ( they were not the pros) stupid tight lower legs small badly placed thigh pockets and the fabric reinforcements are thinner than the rest of the trousers! I sold them as not expressed. Haglofts trousers are ace tough but heavy and synthetic ( my fav bad weather pants) Montane alpine stretch are my go to mt walking pant ( old style) bomber can't wear them out ( I have tried!) But no thigh pockets. Best do everything day to day trousers hands down Helikon utp pants (cotton /polyester) or for a bit tougher the flex model ( cotton/ nylon) pockets are perfect in my opinion! Hard wearing ( pair lasts me 2 years of nearly constant wear in winter. And cheaper than fyallraven. Theres no way I would wear a trouser with cotton content in the MTS waxed or not they are crap slow to dry and uncomfortable when wet and heavy

    I have the RR Norwand and the Fjallraven's. RR are nowhere near the quality and durability of the Fjallraven's. RR started to fade after a couple of washes, horrible fit and sizing as well. Ive had the Fjallravens a few years now and theyre still looking good. The fjallravens will easily outlast 3 or 4 pairs of RR. You definitely pay for what you get. RR are good for the pub when youre camping and thats it. I'm a stingy Yorkshireman and i'll definitely be buying Fjallraven's again.
