- Ok guys… Here we go again! Part 2 of our disaster basement declutter and organize. I got rid of so much stuff this time around and it is feeling so much better! I still have a lot to do so stay tuned, but I think you will find today’s video very motivating! If you have a “disaster” space in your home, get up and tackle it with me! I promise you, it will feel so much better! ❤️

We like the heavy duty shelves from Home Depot. I have a finished basement that was pretty much a storage unit and I finally have got it decluttered. I just took the final load yesterday for donation. I am now working on a theater room and game room for our family Christmas gift. I am exhausted!!!

Give that unwanted pillows to the homeless people in your area along with other things that the homeless can use.
We are thankful to live in a small rural area where there are no homeless. We do however have donations centers that we take things to and anyone in need can get items from there. However these pillows were nasty. They had gotten wet and just needed to be tossed unfortunately.
My 2 bed flat (apartment) in the UK is smaller than your basement, but I love my home and it's big enough for me. 🤶⛄🎅 but I have a big attic (loft) for storage but I only use a quarter of it for Xmas decorations etc. 💐

I think you could have taken this opportunity to get rid of all those little cheap plastic toys rather than putting them back into the bin. Children usually cannot be bothered to rummage through big bins to find what they want. I would encourage you to declutter more & get smaller bins. You have made a very good start here but decluttering rather than organising would be a lot quicker.

Even if you don’t have a moisture issue in your basement,it’s always good to leave a space between the item and the wall for air circulation.

Omg! Lol! We love having a basement as well! But we are the same as you... we use it as a dumping ground. Ours is not finished as well. We do plan on finishing the basement I believe next year. So excited for that! We've had sooooo many of those dumping bins come and we declutter the basement and garage and get it organized, then life happens again 🤣🤣🤣 . I swear it's at least once a year we dump a huge dumping bin full of stuff. You really don't think you buy a lot of things but when you see that, it really humbles you lol! Awesome video!! ❤️❤️❤️

Great work! That shelf unit for your servingware worked out beautifully. Maybe another one for the toy area for them to access and put away toys. Or some plastic drawer units. I wish I had a basement, but I would probably be stashing, too!

Three of us (all adults) live in a 2BR apartment near Chicago. I do lots of crafts. I toss, recycle, or give away at least 20 items each day. We raised 3 kids in a small house. Set limits. Tina, Al's wife

Too many toys and clutter is hard on the kids as well. They don’t enjoy them or care about them.
I 100%agree! It is obvious when they start to get overwhelmed.
I do agree it is daunting and you want to utilize the space well. How about setting up zones so then each area has designated contents?
