6:30 - Not just a shout out, but some bridge facts included 😍Thanks so much Phill. Beautiful scenery and top cycling. I can see exactly why Piglet raves about this area so much. Great video again mate, exactly the sort of uplifting content I needed tonight - my ride yesterday has not done me well, think I'll be off the bike until some more medical intervention at this rate but however much I'm feeling sorry for myself, your content and well documented recovery from much worse are my motivation and my inspiration, to heal up properly and focus on the long term, coming back stronger than ever!
@@derx6666cheers Marco, I'm booked in to see a specialist (and actually have Phill to thank for reaching out to me and recommending it, and how to go about it) on Friday so it won't be a magic bullet but hopefully a more in depth consultation and diagnosis. I'll try to do some riding in the mean time but definitely a reduced program!
When I see a beautiful bridge I think of you, Sir!! And the viaduct at L’Escare is exceptional 🤩. I’m ever so sorry to hear the ride out has not gone as hoped - and for sure with expert help I think a path forward will be quickly found. You’ll be frustrated with your fitness a bit when you restart - but the muscle memory is a real thing, and you should build back rapidly - plus I found it enjoyable to rebase my training mentality and come back with a better quality of fitness. Was all going so nicely until the chest infections ….. and then the bank going bust 🥵. So I have no doubt that with a bit of consistency you’ll build back better 💯
To the Climbers ….. the ‘spoils’ - views, baked product and maybe even a glass of wine ! 🤩. Looking forward to meeting you in person in your beautiful homeland 👍🇨🇭
Merci beaucoup pour this wonderful video. O my, I am so jealous, not only of your guiding friend but als that environment. I definitively will go there once with a experienced friend, I hope. Home of Cafe du Cycliste.
Avec plaisir Agnes !! It’s a truly beautiful part of the world to explore - whether by bike, hiking or car. I very much recommend it to you Agnes. And Paul knows good guides on the bike over there when you decide to visit 👍
Cheers Fraser - appreciate you identifying ! It’s a strange feeling that’s crept up fast over the last 12months. I think it’s more about taking longer to recover and certainly finding it harder to deal with setbacks . Hope all good Sir !
Hi Marco - I very much hope your own recovery is starting to gain more momentum 🤞. I’d hugely recommend the Cote d’Azure - it’s exceptionally beautiful. And the area around Col de La Madone, Col de Braus - and a little further North there is more beautiful mountains and some even more exceptional hairpins as you’ll see in a future vid . Lake District is also exceptional in late summer / early Sept - and the Snowdonia region similar . Choices choices. Only thing I’d say is that Nice can be done nicely in late March / April - with decent weather 👍
I hadn't finished when I posted my first comment - just wanted to add I totally understand the not wanting to ride at endurance pace, but pushing yourself to the limit even when you're not quite at your peak... something about a beautiful climb and getting the most out of yourself, it'd be rude not to. Perfect to end with an authentic croissant, the fuel of kings
🤣 cheers Paul ! A new career beckons - albeit if dress more conservatively than Adam Blythe 😇. Sorry for the delay in my reply - and really hope you and your family are enjoying the fine fine weather !
No worries Phil, we’re all good thanks 🙏🏾just been busy with work and the family lately and time seems to disappear rather quickly. I hope things are steadily improving for you 🙏🏾✊🏾
Great video Phill, scenery is amazing but even better to see you on the bike! I hope the Haute Route is being kind to you. All the best and stay safe chap. 😁💪💪
ASO have granted your wish. The TDF is going up Col de Braus on Stage 20 this year & its the L'Etape stage too - looking forward to seeing it on July 7
Cheers for the heads up Noel 🙏 - I hadn’t see that ! Hopefully will bring out the best of the local climbers - wanting to showcase their prowess on their home turf !
Afternoon! Video looks great, we’re driving down on Monday to do these climbs and I wondered if you have a GPX file or if you’d mind accepting my Strava request so I can grab the maps! Great vid!
Paul has it sussed - the quiet life - who needs the the noisy fakery and pretentiousness of Monaco?! Amazing scenery and film. Sorry to hear about all the setbacks - I'm sure that the power will return with the determinarion of your spirit!
Cheers 🎃 Jack ! Paul does indeed have the formula for fulfilment worked out! And much appreciated - I’ll keep plugging away at the fitness improvements 💯
feeling more assured descending? the opportunity to enjoy rides like this (vicariously) is why i prefer rouvy to zwift. rouvy doesn’t have the incessant racing of zwift, but has so many more routes and a stunning visual experience.
Paul and I spent quite a lot of time building confidence for a safe and controlled descent - with a lot of focus on weight distribution and relaxing to let things flow. So hoping to retain all of that in Switzerland 🤞. I’m likely to do less Zwift over the winter - and will properly look into getting the Wahoo training app with Rouvy . I remember you saying how much you’ve enjoyed it . I see your own strength and fitness is rebuilding - keep it going Sir !!
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy gentlemanly remarks. wahoo system (sufferfest) requires very fast erg mode (as on kickr bike) for group rides. you might enjoy the horrors of the 4dp test.
Lovely video Phill😍 look's like a great place to be with your bike😍
Cheers Gunnar 🙏 - it’s every bit as good as piglet promised 💯. You need to get out there with Paul for a Titan’s tour !
Goodness. I just love these climbing videos. Just wonderful.
Beautiful! 😍 you sure know how to pick a pleasant place to ride. Thanks for sharing 👍
My pleasure Stephen 💯 - and for sure it’s a truly beautiful part of the world to explore on a bike - highly recommended 👍

Nice. What was your gearing?
Cheers Ahlul 🙏 - I was using a compact on the front and a 30 on the rear. But have since changed to a 34 on the rear, which feels better
