Scott Ross delivers a sublime performance of the master when I would have been seven years old and blissfully unaware of how Bach would later dominate my musical listening. Ross eloquently disproves the old chestnut of the harpsichord as merely skeletons manically dancing on a tin roof... his octagonal glasses are rather typical of the period and also to be applauded.
Conductor Sir Thomas Beecham statement was even worse with his unfavourable characterization "skeletons copulating on a tin roof". It sounds horrible, such a statement in my ears, but still you have to admit that the English have a great sense of humour.
Those are some great octagonal glasses! :) I see that you posted this a year ago, but I'm surprised that I have only found it now. I've been saving these videos to listen later, but am very behind on schedule!
Magnique ! Scott Ross a compris que l'on ne devait pas jouer Bach comme une machine à coudre .
