I tested this as well when the article came out. What I saw consistently was I was placed with "casual" players and we got our asses handed to us every match because the settings only affect YOUR team, not the opposition at all. So you get grouped with people who could care less about winning, but the opposition is competitive.

The main thing I love about this channel is that you're honest about your gameplay. You're not ashamed to show your deaths or how the game is sweaty. You're a very honest person and i respect that.
So, the “setting” you tried is for finding a party. You select the type of players you want to pair up with, then search, and it fills up your squad with people that chose matching options. Then you just join a game with the squad it connected you with. Maybe if you party up with a squad full of casuals, it may impact the lobby found because of the average party K/D or something. But it definitely isn’t something that gets rid of SBMM

It’s pretty obvious that these search parameters are to match you with a squad with similar preferences/play style/mindset not the whole lobby or to circumvent SBMM. Whenever I use the party search I get matched with complete clueless donuts whatever preferences I use…but I suppose that beats using squad fill but the game makes you play as a duo in quads.

I’ve ran into like 4-5 hackers in warzone 2 so far. 2 of them had invincibility to vehicle damage somehow. The other ones just had obvious aim bots. You’d be surprised how many people actually hack but keep it super hidden.

I appreciate your content so much! Instead of constantly complaining you’re having fun with the game. Not everything is gonna be perfect and it’s frustrating when everything is so negative. i think sbmm has a place but it really needs to be tuned better. i dont want to have to spend 10 games getting slaughtered by sweaty pro players because i went positive in one or two games
I think there should be 2 different modes, one "casual" without SBMM and another one with but with ranks to progress (like any other game on this earth) so that you can feel rewarded for progressing with the ranks and actually feel like getting better at the game.
I think sbmm has to exist, but maybe it can be toned down. Sidebar, i think they should add a version of ranked for mp and wz with all the older movement mechanics. This way the players who dont want to play in those lobbies dont have too and the people who dont want to sit in a corner with claymore will have a mode they can actually play.

I just tested it and it definitely works. I changed to casual and played the sweatiest game of my life. Every single person was jump shotting and drop shotting every corner.
I found this a while ago, and it doesn't have an effect or bypass the SBMM. Of all the things I found, it seems to change is the 'quality' of people I am teamed with in Warzone or DMZ. Since competitive is the default, and it requires you to change it each login (which casual players certainly aren't doing) you setting it to 'casual' was actually putting you in lobbies with sweats looking to farm content and get easy dubs. It's actually a better tool to use to find quality players than it is to find crappy players, so setting it to 'High Kills' to get a decent team for matchmaking has worked better for me 9/10 times. If it were that easy to get good lobbies, SBMM wouldn't exist. That's literally its job. As a causal player, I should never get put in a lobby with a streamer like you, who is probably much better. But you are right, it does need tuned so you don't get stuck in high skill lobbies for more than 3 rounds, it just crushes your spirit and will to play the game.
One would think since the game is supposedly keeping track of yours and everyone else’s skill level that after a few games whether you are doing great or just a total bot you would get a smart ass verbal message saying you don’t belong in the current lobby again good or bad giving you an idea where you stand 🤷🏽♂️
@@blackcatgitch6948 The problem with that is the formula for each SBMM is a pretty closely held secret, and telling players where they stand, when they get bumped up/down gives an indicator of how their formula works, and would start tipping off people how to game the system.
Sbmm for me is one match I'm the worst one, next match I'm the best and going 40-10 vs people who look like they can't even ads. Rarely is it balanced or consistent
For me, skill-based matchmaking is essential for newer players like me because playing against people who destroy me is disheartening and I usually turn my Xbox off. But then there is the problem, if you work really hard to increase your skill level, your win rate, k/d ratio etc don't change because you are playing against equally skilled players.
You are so on point with slide canceling. It was like it gave me a cadence or rhythm to my movement. It has taken me a long time to NOT slide cancel as it was so ingrained in my movement from place to place.
It’s a little late to comment this. But you have to search the party through that entire setting. You can’t just switch it and then load a regular match. It’s specifically targeting the party demeanor only
I imagine the article meant if you go into quads or trios and use the party finder to form a party with the casual preference on you're likely to get matched (for the party) with a group of casual players which in turn would give you a lower difficulty lobby through SBMM. I imagine that wouldn't make any difference in solos.
I tested it quite a bit when I first found out about it. I really didn't notice any difference at all. I'm always in sweaty ttv lobbies, and trust me it's not because of my skill 😂. Love your content!!!
This was a normal lobby. This option of casual or competitive is when you're trying to find a party por specific reason and you can look for people on that menu. I think it was make thinking on dmz, like wou want to do some hard missions, get some weapons level up or whatever... It has no effect on the real game, is just to find a team mate with the same objective as you.
Yeah I agree. The hard part is doing that when the player base isn't as large, otherwise people would be in a queue for hours. Shouldn't be an issue with this new game though.
I think they did that in cold War, Cause there was lobbies where you'd stomp the other team, and 3 matches later you get stomped as soon as you spawn in. Then back to manageable matches.
I wouldn't be surprised if somehow you do get put into different lobbies if your whole team chooses Casual and you use the party finder feature. I HIGHLY doubt it has any effect to just change that setting and not use the feature.

I had a pretty decent time in DMZ up until now...I was also set on competitive...I selected casual....and ohmyfkingawd....3 matches in a row I got stomped in ways I can't imagine, and learned some actual cool new tricks.
SBMM is simple to me. Have separate playlists. Casual- random skill level only matching for best connections. Competitive- full SBMM with some progression system and hell maeby alow one gun ban per team. Only issue is you split the player base but cod is so popular that it would shouldn't be a big problem.
SBMM would be great for me if it worked but it doesn't, I play a lot but nearly never have more than 2 or 3 kills in WZ. Most people in my lobbies have 1.2+ K/D and my K/D is always around 0.8. I very often feel I am put into SBMM games to help feed the really good players. I now watch streamers more than playing for this reason :( I miss gaming on rebirth where I could hear foot steps within 3m of me and equal damage per bullet from in the moment and the kill cam.
Hmm. Well I did the find party a week ago - I actually forgot about this feature. IDK if it gives bot lobbies BUT! I will say that people are usually nicer and they actually have mics and communicate. It's nuts because going 100% rogue and just doing randoms is the WORST experience. I get called the C word, yelled at, people have NO mics or troll, etc. But find a party is actually a better experience for me.

It’s the find a party/team feature where it puts you in a squad with other people. It’s trying to find a team with similar play styles. This was in older CODs too. It literally has nothing to do with SBMM.
Wouldn't it make more sense to set it to "High Kills" for the easiest lobbies? Casual could mean a larger variety of skills in a game- I'm not sure what else could cause "High Kills"
I found this out last week and now everyone uses this method so it's useless now lol . I actually think the casual lobbies were sweatier than the normal ones at this point
Default for me was competitive and I personally don’t think it changes anything unless it was flooded with sweats when the info first broke I found out last week about this
ive noticed that when i put it on casual theres a wide variety of skill level from the guy who gets a 2kd to the newbie that gets 0.5kd. i prefer to keep it on competitive then everyone is around the same skill level (except for the smurfs). the real way to get a easy lobby is to play like trash for 5 games and then you're almost guaranteed to get a bot lobby, but go good and you’re back to the sweats
I like having it the way it is with skill based , if I get a ton of sweats I take the experience and get better , I think it’s more of how much can u mentally take before u shut the game off lol , which is not a lot for those lobby hunter peeps
finally someone gets it I'm not a great player but being able to move a little faster and do something with my hands because of slide canceling made it much more enjoyable
SBMM or as you say, stay based matching would be great. As you said, you shouldn’t be in with. New players and neither should I Maybe have a 4 or 5 tier matching system so that new players can have a chance while learning maps. Advancing skills, etc
It starts over after you leave the game and go back to HQ. You have to change it every time. However, it’s been known for a while now and it doesn’t matter anymore it’s pretty sweaty now.
This setting does absolutely nothing unless you actually search for a party and then it just teams you with people with the playstyle you select but if it matches you with lower skilled players than you might get into a lower skilled lobby but it has no effect in solos at all
I Am very new to the game, and I'm still learn and have a long way to go to be a pro like you but the lobbies I get are like the sweatiest lobbies comparatively but all in all its fun...
SBMM is a necessary evil that is extremely hard to do correctly on purpose. If you're familiar with Occam's Razor, that really applies here, and it's something I believe Activision and IW have struggled to take into account since MW 2019. They've focused too hard on their perception of fairness and not enough on the factor of enjoyability. The current state of the game makes it nigh impossible to enjoy because you're pitted against people the same way an esport's league would. Again, it goes back to Occam's Razor: SBMM takes far too many stats and predicted playstyles into account, instead of just tossing players into an organized moshpit of controlled anarchy like SBMM did back in BO2 for example. It's too complex to do it's intended function, and it needs to be nerfed if Activision/IW want the players to enjoy the game more.

I like sbmm if it works. I'm not sweaty, I don't have tons of time to play, and I just want to have fun. Last few multi-player matches I jump in and can barely take a few steps before getting downed. I pretty much stick to dmz at this point.
It’s ok to me. I do like the fact my son can play with people on the same skill as him and actually have fun. He goes 20-10, 15-15 and 6-30 (because I played on his account) but he still has fun.
So, it's hard to quantify sbmm usefulness in cod because we don't honestly know the extent that it's affecting our matches. If all sbmm did was put us in lobbies with people around our skill level and kd then i dont think that anyone would complain about it. That don't seem to be the case though and probably why everyone is enraged with it already. Though personally i think that sbmm should only be at a competitive level i.e., ranked matches.

yeah after the holidays - i'm taking some time back home with the parents and needed to get pretty far ahead of the upload schedule to do that. (this is obviously a great job, but the one thing it doesn't come with is vacation days or paid time off)
I thought that was the point of added things like league play like bo2 so you’d have your quick play lobbies and if you wanted skill based you play in ranked lobbies doesn’t mean you won’t run into sweat teams in quick play but probably less often and you would for sure run into competition when you played with other people that ranked in your division
It matches your lobby teammates with players of the same preference, not the lobby, so it would probably make your game harder playing with teammates who aren't good
Agree on the slide cancel, also good for finding cheaters who were beaming ppl and were unable to slide cancel. Also its better to watch, its boring watching someone power walk around like they have a dirty diaper
I feel that sbmm isn’t need but I think I’m only saying that because of what happens or happened to me. So here’s the story I haven’t played any cod game since Cold War and although I played the beta for MW2 on a separate account. But when I got on my main account to play it I was going against players that were the highest level (55 at the time) and it was an absolute sweat fest mind you I just played the game on that account. I also think that they kept my k/d from the last time I played cod.
My son said the same thing about slide cancelling. He misses the fidget of it. My old probably arthritic hands don't issue it so much. I do get the fidget though
I agree with SBMM, as a person who has a full time job and kids and stuff. However, it is Very extreme in COD. I play video games to relax and have fun with friends, and the last thing I want is to just get skull-drug in every single round. Streamers don’t like it because they don’t play for fun, they play for Money so they want 0 competition, they want to look as badass as possible.

I think they did that in cold War, Cause there was lobbies where you'd stomp the other team, and 3 matches later you get stomped as soon as you spawn in. Then back to manageable matches.
I wouldn't be surprised if somehow you do get put into different lobbies if your whole team chooses Casual and you use the party finder feature. I HIGHLY doubt it has any effect to just change that setting and not use the feature.

For those you don’t know this isn’t true. This is if you want to party with randoms and it’s to help find you players to play with who are casual. If you want this to work set it to casual and click find party
I'm pretty sure the way it works is it matches you with random parties to what you have it set as for your play style
you said exactly what I was going to say about SBMM, the complete lack of transparency makes it impossible to know anything.
I had a pretty decent time in DMZ up until now...I was also set on competitive...I selected casual....and ohmyfkingawd....3 matches in a row I got stomped in ways I can't imagine, and learned some actual cool new tricks.
SBMM is simple to me. Have separate playlists. Casual- random skill level only matching for best connections. Competitive- full SBMM with some progression system and hell maeby alow one gun ban per team. Only issue is you split the player base but cod is so popular that it would shouldn't be a big problem.

SBMM would be great for me if it worked but it doesn't, I play a lot but nearly never have more than 2 or 3 kills in WZ. Most people in my lobbies have 1.2+ K/D and my K/D is always around 0.8. I very often feel I am put into SBMM games to help feed the really good players. I now watch streamers more than playing for this reason :( I miss gaming on rebirth where I could hear foot steps within 3m of me and equal damage per bullet from in the moment and the kill cam.
These settings have NOTHING to do with matchmaking. They ONLY effect "Find a Party" searches to match you up with like-minded teammates.
Not sure how people are misinterpreting this. It's "Party Finder" not "Lobby Finder". I'm sure this youtuber knows, but then again, it gets views...
Hmm. Well I did the find party a week ago - I actually forgot about this feature. IDK if it gives bot lobbies BUT! I will say that people are usually nicer and they actually have mics and communicate. It's nuts because going 100% rogue and just doing randoms is the WORST experience. I get called the C word, yelled at, people have NO mics or troll, etc.
But find a party is actually a better experience for me.

It’s the find a party/team feature where it puts you in a squad with other people. It’s trying to find a team with similar play styles. This was in older CODs too. It literally has nothing to do with SBMM.
Wouldn't it make more sense to set it to "High Kills" for the easiest lobbies? Casual could mean a larger variety of skills in a game- I'm not sure what else could cause "High Kills"
Comp is default for everyone, you can also use it to refresh when you look for a squad.
I found this out last week and now everyone uses this method so it's useless now lol . I actually think the casual lobbies were sweatier than the normal ones at this point

Default for me was competitive and I personally don’t think it changes anything unless it was flooded with sweats when the info first broke I found out last week about this
ive noticed that when i put it on casual theres a wide variety of skill level from the guy who gets a 2kd to the newbie that gets 0.5kd. i prefer to keep it on competitive then everyone is around the same skill level (except for the smurfs). the real way to get a easy lobby is to play like trash for 5 games and then you're almost guaranteed to get a bot lobby, but go good and you’re back to the sweats

I like having it the way it is with skill based , if I get a ton of sweats I take the experience and get better , I think it’s more of how much can u mentally take before u shut the game off lol , which is not a lot for those lobby hunter peeps
finally someone gets it I'm not a great player but being able to move a little faster and do something with my hands because of slide canceling made it much more enjoyable

Maybe have a 4 or 5 tier matching system so that new players can have a chance while learning maps. Advancing skills, etc

It starts over after you leave the game and go back to HQ. You have to change it every time. However, it’s been known for a while now and it doesn’t matter anymore it’s pretty sweaty now.
Visual elo would be nice if sbmm is necessary. That would turn it into a nonstop but competitive sweat feast
This setting does absolutely nothing unless you actually search for a party and then it just teams you with people with the playstyle you select but if it matches you with lower skilled players than you might get into a lower skilled lobby but it has no effect in solos at all
This is in other games it’s literally for finding other groups with your preferred play style, sweaty or casual.
I Am very new to the game, and I'm still learn and have a long way to go to be a pro like you but the lobbies I get are like the sweatiest lobbies comparatively but all in all its fun...
SBMM is a necessary evil that is extremely hard to do correctly on purpose. If you're familiar with Occam's Razor, that really applies here, and it's something I believe Activision and IW have struggled to take into account since MW 2019. They've focused too hard on their perception of fairness and not enough on the factor of enjoyability. The current state of the game makes it nigh impossible to enjoy because you're pitted against people the same way an esport's league would. Again, it goes back to Occam's Razor: SBMM takes far too many stats and predicted playstyles into account, instead of just tossing players into an organized moshpit of controlled anarchy like SBMM did back in BO2 for example. It's too complex to do it's intended function, and it needs to be nerfed if Activision/IW want the players to enjoy the game more.
It is just to find a party of people who want to play casual or competetiv or what you prefer to play with but it dosent change a thing the lobbys

I like sbmm if it works. I'm not sweaty, I don't have tons of time to play, and I just want to have fun. Last few multi-player matches I jump in and can barely take a few steps before getting downed. I pretty much stick to dmz at this point.
It’s ok to me. I do like the fact my son can play with people on the same skill as him and actually have fun. He goes 20-10, 15-15 and 6-30 (because I played on his account) but he still has fun.
So, it's hard to quantify sbmm usefulness in cod because we don't honestly know the extent that it's affecting our matches. If all sbmm did was put us in lobbies with people around our skill level and kd then i dont think that anyone would complain about it. That don't seem to be the case though and probably why everyone is enraged with it already. Though personally i think that sbmm should only be at a competitive level i.e., ranked matches.

yeah after the holidays - i'm taking some time back home with the parents and needed to get pretty far ahead of the upload schedule to do that. (this is obviously a great job, but the one thing it doesn't come with is vacation days or paid time off)
I thought that was the point of added things like league play like bo2 so you’d have your quick play lobbies and if you wanted skill based you play in ranked lobbies doesn’t mean you won’t run into sweat teams in quick play but probably less often and you would for sure run into competition when you played with other people that ranked in your division

It matches your lobby teammates with players of the same preference, not the lobby, so it would probably make your game harder playing with teammates who aren't good

Played a multi-player match, the entire enemy team was riot Shields, flash, and knife...
Agree on the slide cancel, also good for finding cheaters who were beaming ppl and were unable to slide cancel. Also its better to watch, its boring watching someone power walk around like they have a dirty diaper

I feel that sbmm isn’t need but I think I’m only saying that because of what happens or happened to me. So here’s the story I haven’t played any cod game since Cold War and although I played the beta for MW2 on a separate account. But when I got on my main account to play it I was going against players that were the highest level (55 at the time) and it was an absolute sweat fest mind you I just played the game on that account. I also think that they kept my k/d from the last time I played cod.

I agree with SBMM, as a person who has a full time job and kids and stuff. However, it is Very extreme in COD. I play video games to relax and have fun with friends, and the last thing I want is to just get skull-drug in every single round. Streamers don’t like it because they don’t play for fun, they play for Money so they want 0 competition, they want to look as badass as possible.
