I'd also like to add that at 5:20, I meant playing Nd3+ instead of the random Bf5 that Mato showed. Nd3 is check, discovering an attack on the Rook. King can move toward the Knight all he wants, but Black has it covered by the Rook. White's Rook is dropping with no compensation. So even in Mato's continuation, Black is still better, in my opinion.
Greetings Mato, such a big effort to deliver the best video everyday for your people. I thank you once again profoundly; I love your work! Don't ever stop delivering! At this pace, that your numbers are growing (subscribers & views), one day you'll be recognized as one of the most important chess figures of all time. Cheers!
Hey mato, I would just like to let you know that I created a user on youtube just to thank you for your excellent videos and commentary. I also really enjoy when you play out possible scenarios in your games because I know I don't speak for myself on this one, it helps me learn about looking into the future of the game. Thank mato ur awesome
Thanks to all for your help, I have done has you have advised and checked out the castling rule. Just goes to show a little knowledge can be a bad thing. Again Thanks
If you are talking about position at 7:05 then you are right. It works. I don't understand why so many dislikes on your comment. Are they blind or what?
Mato, you say castling should have been considered by white at 4.10 but is that possible when both sides of the kings rank are in check with the black bishop.
At 7:06 isn't the rook to g8 the best move? because after king forced to respond with d2, then the rook is coming down to e2 and checkmate. And thanks for the video... It's a great job you are doing...
White is much better. After black plays Nd3+ Ke2 Bxa1 Rxa1. White has 3 pawns and a better position for the exchange. The queenside pawn majority is too much, its structure is healthy, and there won't be enough open files for black to make use of his two rooks, particularly after the d file is blockaded after black plays a6 (the only way to save the a pawn) and white moves his knight to d6
What position are you talking about? At 7:05 if black plays Re8+ , king must go to d2 and then Re2# Checkmate. King can't take on d3, bishop is protected by knight on b2 ......Maybe you are talking about another position, but at 7:05 it works like MisterBouncyBounce said.....please answer
Hi Mato, i know you sometimes browse through the comments, so i hope you see this, My brothers and I love your commentaries, and he just had a birthday, as a gift i would love to send you one of his games and have you commentate on it, and send it back to me, and surprise him. Thanks in advance, Ita.
after 1... knd3+ 2. K e2 BxR a8 3. Rxb a8 Kn moves White is up three pawans and a Knight for the rook-3 vs 1 on the queen side looks pretty unstopable...
Thank you for your comment

Always the highlight of my (youtube)day when you upload a new video :)

loving the colle system games! i like to play this opening in bullet games so it is useful to see variations of it. Thanks mato!
If you are talking about position at 7:05 then you are right. It works. I don't understand why so many dislikes on your comment. Are they blind or what?
I enjoy these types of games they help to open your mind.
Yes I meant e8... sorry. And i didn't mean to steal his comment.
great demo, thanks for posting !!!
In 5:20 , why not Kd3+ winning the Rook for the bishop
castle queen side is possible because bishop controls b1 and king doesn't pass through it.
Well played by Spielmann, saw the moves
I think you are right, I saw this too and wanted to comment.
05:19 nd3 check, king e2, bishop takes rook, rook takes bishop, is black better?
2 rooks and a knight against 1 rook 2 knights and 3 pawns, gonna be tough for both sides
Nd3+ gives +2,30
And white wins
Mato, you say castling should have been considered by white at 4.10 but is that possible when both sides of the kings rank are in check with the black bishop.
5:20 What about Nd4+ discovered atack on the rook?
I was wondering the same. Curious to see what Mato (or anyone else) has to say about that.
At 5:20 mato is showing a variation in which white is supposed to be doing fine but there Nd3 is winning the exchange right? And black is also better
5:27 Isnt Rc1 suicidal for white? Considering Nd3+ is coming, forking king and rook.
5:20 why not discovered attack on the rook?
I saw all moves, nice checkus matus at the end.
hi mato, any chance of covering Fridman-Naiditsch being played in grenke today?
enjoyed watching this video am into learning this system thanx

"K" means king, N means knight. so Nd3+.
I was thinking the same thing, but i think white would still be winning. Those queenside pawns are scary

And 5:30 : Still Nd4+ forking King and Rook?
At 5:20, can't White play Nd3+, winning the Rook?

At 3:20 why can't black play Bc3 and get a free queen? Or at least forcing Ne6 and taking the knight for a pawn
I had the same thought - that has to be a mistake, Mato!
you mean Bc4. if black plays Bc4, then white takes pawn with Qxe4.
Spielmann: The last of the Romantics
5min 19 sec: why not Nd3+ followed by Bxa1?
Maybe they don't see the knight on b2 protecting the bishop on d3, so they think that king can take that bishop
5:27 knight to d3, check and taking the rook
Even worse than taking with bishop imo because there are many pawns
Deadly !
hi mato,i want know dose alekhine alive
Very Nice!
No worries, I made the original mistake, I see why it is confusing.
Not a style of game that I associate with Spielmann. It reminds of that Tal quote, "Some sacrifices are sound, the rest are mine."
I saw all 3 moves
Good Game
Dont understand why he sacrificed rook
Because he had forced mate sequence after being captured.
Never mind. I saw that too, then somehow I thought White could play Kxe3.
after 1... knd3+ 2. K e2 BxR a8 3. Rxb a8 Kn moves White is up three pawans and a Knight for the rook-3 vs 1 on the queen side looks pretty unstopable...
i see the killa move
I am sorry, I didn't saw your comment. I posted the same thing.
Sorry. My fault. I read it again and now I understand
Er, Kxd3 that is.
You mean rook to e8, but yes it is. Look at the comment by MisterBouncyBounce below. He is right but got thumbs down.
I don't think you understand what I said.
Look again.
KB3 isn't bad either
I had found the best move yipieeeeeee :)
1. Ke2 Nxc1+ 2. Rxc1 a6 3. f4 Bb2 4. Rc2 , .... white is winning
N4b5 was a terrible blunder... how could white miss that!
First! :P
