Agreed on storms!! Adversity raises stakes and I thought they did it well here. I mean if you didn't want it interrupting your base work, ya built it underground! it felt interesting! Made wind power SO worth it even if it rarely resulted in damage/scrapped turbines IMO.
Yeah, I feel like I should've discussed them more. They've been gone for awhile and they were the only survival aspect that truly had an impact on your playstyle. I hope they bring them back.
Honestly, just hearing them was nostalgic.

I tried this myself a few months ago knowing what it was like back then and other than the colors its still realistically the same overall
Just started playing the game a couple of days ago with my kid, and eventually went to youtube for answers to some questions, as one does. Stumbled across your page and I was hooked, you've cracked me up in practically every video and I've already watched all your playlists completely through. The sub bit in this vid was hilarious, I didn't know how much I was going to invest into this game, So I was iffy on subbing, but I think the content alone is worth it, lol. Subbed.

Old Astroneer looks like a mobile spinoff of Astroneer xD
I mean, accurate. The _old_ old Astroneer could easily be ported over to mobile with a few tweaks to the controls.
I bought this game about a month after it's first release. It was completely different from what it is today.

I bought Astroneer on Dec. 16th 2016, the very day it was released in Early Access. This video brings back a lot of memories

i watched astroneer long ago but im not sure if it was 2016 or 2017... either way the most i remember is buggies being glitchy and the two youtubers formed a sort of bunker so they wouldnt get hit by the cubes from storms and die
Yeah I tried out the rovers and the controls are that they basically just get dragged in the direction you look. They don't naturally move according to how wheels would let something move.
This was the funniest video I seen you do. My God, your amazing. And yes, please do a part 2 lol. Just keep advanceing your current save.

Oddly enough, I didn't mind the rock storms, although I would have preferred them to be a little less frequent.
They made us protect our bases by either building walls or building underground. But the construction was a little easier because a new game start shuttle always landed on the equator, making leveling a little easier.
For me, the worst experience was the disappearing vehicles that would either blow away in the storms or fall through the surface of the planet to the next cave floor while the Astroneer was away from the base.

were the hazardous plants tougher in this version? seems like you couldn't dig them up like you can now...
I'm not sure. It felt like they were, but it could just be that I was tired from playing for like 3 hours straight or the fact that I was just generally confused about how to play this version.
I was also kinda dumb with the ones at the entrance that killed me multiple times because I could've just removed those easily since they have low range, but I really believed I could get good at dodging them faster. XD
you can dig them up its just the spikey ones dont despawn and the none spikey ones do so even if you cover them up on the moon they will just spike you trough the ground you covered them whit so its much more tedious but you can get rid of them by just digging them deeper

How do you even do this? I mean install this version. I got Astroneer in pre-alpha but I didnt enjoy it really then, however I am in love with the game now and I would love to revisit Astroneer's early days.
