I literally just signed a contract with a solar company a week ago. Getting a 20KW Enphase battery system supported by 21 solar panels. It will work in concert, in a dire situation with my whole home (Propane) generator. I'm literally working to get 100% off grid.
It was stupid expensive but the idiots in DC will give me 30% tax credit against the cost of the system, another 10% for stuff made in America. Plus I'll get net metering from my utility company, so I'll be getting paid on most days.

I used to be a solar salesman. If you can still cancel it I would. Unless you paid cash, then go ahead. I had to quit from basically death threats from angry customers when the co. would put a lien on their house and they couldn't sell it.

When you sell the house the solar contract must be paid in full. This is what would cause the problems. As a salesman we would tell you that.....if you asked. If you didn't ask, oh well it's in the contract, can't sell a one if you volunteer that kind of info.

@@pojack9979 Well, on the solar alone, I checked with a reference as I asked for some names to call. One guy is currently clocking $300-$350 per month in net metering from his power company. That tells me he installed far too many panels but hey, he's getting paid, that's great. My goal isn't to profit from the power company, but to rather survive blackouts that are inevitable from power outages (storms etc) or downright grid failures from a flawed infrastructure.
Regardless, I have redundant backup energy sources, which is more than 99% of people can say.

In the US electric utilities carry the second largest debt load, that debt has been rolling over into higher interest debt for a while. These utilities are guaranteed to make a profit under state law, as such these increased debt cost are passed on to the rate payers.
A significant amount of cities and municipalities tax electricity. These cities are struggling financially and have been rasing this tax, and they do not need to go before a rate commission or the voters to raise this tax.
This is not as sexy as the things covered in the video but are a growing piece of the pie.

  • @ejbh3160

Just because the USA grew gas power more than wind and solar - doesn't mean the rest of the world did.
China has now cancelled hundreds of coal power plants & is the world's leader in renewable energy - because they understand they can get energy independence. They also understand that once the infrastructure is built, you don't need to feed it with 'fuel' & an entire supply chain for that.
Fossil fuels grew into a mega-bucks monopoly that influences politics & everything else. America just fracked the hell out of the country & has a toxic water nightmare on the horizon. Gas will eventually run out or get too expensive to frack. Then you will wish you'd built the 'fuel-free' infrastructure.
Developed countries in Europe are racing to transition to renewables. Independence from coal & gas is the goal. The UK got the majority of its electricity from wind power in the last 12 months - more than it got from gas. On some days of the year wind exceed all other sources combined. That's before there are solar panels on every rooftop & batteries in every garage (and car).
A combination of wind/solar/batteries is just a matter of getting the 'scale' right. If you build the infrastructure to cope at the times of LEAST production - then at ALL other times there will be surpluses... plenty for the AI stuff.
And don't write off innovation - the latest NVDA board is a MILLION times better than the previous one & requires less electricity to run. Likewise solar and batteries are getting cheaper and better at the same time.
Renewables will win hands down - just because of the economics of it... once the fossil cartel are exposed and ALL subsidies are removed from energy (globally - fossil fuels got 7 trillion dollars in subsidies last year - many many times more than renewables got - because renewables are economic out of the box now - both at the grid scale and domestic - although there again Americans are being ripped off on PV prices compared to the rest of the world, thanks to the fossil cartel).

There's a bit of nonsense. Canada has the 3rd largest proven oil reserves and the US is 11th. You're going to keep finding it everywhere up the center of the continent and offshore as they are doing so. As for Nat gas, it comes out of the wells in Texas, just like it does here because someone at one time or another drilled for it or oil or condensate and it is there. So don't think the oil and gas stops at the border. It's all over North America. Just drill.

Who’s paying this guy? ”-The more oil we find, the more we find…but it’s a finite world.” The guy thinks you can throw uranium ore into a nuclear plant. Sounds like a happy amateur.
Listen, there’s not going to be enough gasoline for your gasoline cars forever. Oil is already getting more difficult to find, harder and more expensive to extract, which is why price is going up. Also, it takes time and experience from utilization and further development of a new technology in order for it to technically mature.
Electric vehicles is the future. It’s just a matter of the system configuration and the setup of the car from further research and development. We might be driving around in cars propelled by hydrogen gas generated from renewable energy sources in 30 years, for all we know. That might be completely new kinds of engines. Another thing, renewable energy gets its name from the fact that there is no depleting fuel involved. The renewable generators can be built without gasoline, coal or natural gas for that matter, if the energy comes from renewables.
The push for electric cars was and is needed to get the shift in development in order. Sure, first adopters will not be buying the best product with regards to range, but 85 % of Americans don’t need more than 15 miles for daily comuting. Range will get much better. Also, for all you ”gasoline lovers”, don’t worry. We will be buying gasoline cars for decades, but fewer and fewer as technology progresses.
Do not work against progress. Development towards technological maturity takes time. The remaining oil is needed for products in the future, not to burn in a short term scheme.

It is a disaster now. The price of hydrogen is too expensive currently.

Disagree. Every barrel of oil or cubic feet of gas that comes out of the ground is one less for the future. The problem will be the difficulty of pulling it out of the ground at a price that the economy can afford. Long before we run out we will have reached a point where it's too expensive to pull out.

Serves no real purpose other than to shill. At the expense of being an energy HOG.
Anyone who argues to the contrary just has a vested interest in the shill

Long range Teslas cost less than the price of an average vehicle in the US without factoring in the tax credit. They are also very practice. Please don’t let this guy get away with these lies.

Matrix movies only showed a snippet of facts and truth because the entire Multiverse was influenced or controlled by two quantum AI systems called Alpha and Omega for millions of years. Also humans have been batteries to feed bad aliens and power up inorganic things for eons.

What a silly and misleading comment that “Electric cars are not new. They’ve been around since the 50s.” No duh! That applies to 99% of all technology and its evolution from conceptual to production. If the guest had any shred of intelligence he’d understand that it’s not about when a technology is first discovered, but how it becomes feasibly scalable from a manufacturing and cost standpoint then adopted by the masses. What a bozo. Lol.
