There is also a reset button on the battery - the long thing next to the charge indicator - You can press that several times - sometimes up to 50/60 and it will reset the battery.
@DrELJ22 Its right next to the charge indicator as he said. I didn't notice it until he pointed it out. Not sure if it works but it is worth a try. Let me know if it works.
I just bought a new AD400PRO and plugged it in to charge it. Its been on the charger for about 3 hours. The red light is on and each of the green lights flash one after the other (never more than one at a time) and the battery is not charging. Tried your suggestion but no change. The battery must have been really dead when I rec'd it. My other AD400PRO was fully charged after about a 2 or 3 hour charge.
If the green lights are lighting up then it's charging. My situation was different. As I stated in the video I only had a red light on it and after leaving it plugged in overnight it still only had the red light. If you have green lights coming on that's good. Thanks for watching.
@@TomReplogle The green lights flash but it is NOT charging. It was on the charger for 8 hours yesterday and 2 hours this morning. It has no juice in it at all. The store I bought it from ordered me a replacement battery and I going to pick it up this afternoon. My other AD400PRO battery was/is fine.
Would you mind taking a photo of the reset button? I can't seem to find it. My battery is only showing a red light too. I have only used this flash about a half dozen times and didn't realize I should be storing it with a charged battery. Thanks so much!
No of the techniques in comments worked for me (i didn’t open it so can’t say for this technique). The thing is i didn’t use this flash since 3 years… but the battery had only 3 charges it was almost new. Do you think it’s dead ? Because i received a « used refurbished » one from Amazon and this one doesn’t work either…
This worked for me. I had the red power LED on and some of my green charge % indicator LEDs on. When I re-plugged the power brick, it looked as if it the brick was getting power and then running out of juice, maybe due to the battery being at such low state of charge that it was drawing so much current that it was depleting the power in the brick itself. I let it do its thing for a little bit, then re-plugged it, and now it's operating as normally and the monolight turns on again! THANK YOU!!!
Bummer. I think the success rate depends on how long the battery has sat discharged. There are a few comments below with additional info that may help. Thanks for watching!
Yes, you are correct, the AC side is the side you unplug. I should have stressed that in the video a bit more. Also, you need to wait for the capacitor to discharge. I'm glad you got your battery back! Thanks for watching!
Hi! Nothing worked on my batteries and probably I’ll have to buy new ones but my question is: how long did they work after you managed to restart them? Did the batteries have a long life after recover?
For me this did not work. What did work was putting the battery on the strobe itself and then press the start button and the resetbutton (next to the lights on the battery) at the same time.
It didn't work for me. I opened the battery, it had only 3V left. I gave it a jump start with a small 12V powersupply for a few seconds. 8.5V pack voltage now. Then I got a constant green light on the charger, after a few minutes it startet charging.
Did get my hop up, got the green ligth running! But only once, and then the green light dide and back to just the red light. Tried 7times so far but will keep going!
I want to add a little story from yesterday here: I had two defective batteries, then I saw this video and tried it. And like many here, after several tries, like 40-50 tries, even left it in the charger for an hour............ It didnt work. No green lights whatsoever. So I was prepared to try the other, more complicated version, with a battery charger. I personally dont have one, so I asked my dad. He told me to come to him so we could check it out. I went there the next day (about 24 hours later) and he opened up the battery and tested it with a multimeter to figure out what was positive and negative. We both expected it to be dead, but suddenly there was actually a sign of life. So we put in the charger and ..... There was one green light! But it was constant, not blinking and charging like it was supposed to... But after a couple of sparks in and out of the wall, IT SUDDENLY WORKED! I thought at first that maybe the fiddeling with the multimeter revived it of some kind, so for fun we tried to plug in the unopened battery.... And what happened? The exact same thing! There was a constant green light.. Then after a couple of times sparking the plug in the wall socket it suddenly worked too! The biggest difference, other than the green light, was that the red light dissappeared immidiately when unplugging from the wall So, my new theory is... Try this trick for as many times you want. I even put it in a branch outlet with a on\off button to make it easier to do both at the same time, then let it stay plugged in for a while, then let it rest for some hours... Then try the next day. This was with TWO batteries, so it cant have been only luck.
he said it did not work. This method did not work for me either.. I'm guessing after a really extended amount of time, this method isn't viable.@@TomReplogle
Actually, re-read it carefully. It did indeed work for his second battery. His theory is that you need to leave it plugged it for a bit before trying it. But I think you are right too…the battery may become so discharged that it’s beyond help. @cesfab7602
Had something similar happen. Forgot to charge a battery after a shoot and it sat for about 6 months unused. Dead when I went to use it again. Put it on the charger and just had one constant green light, left it plugged in for about 15 minutes and she started charging normally again.
I have two batteries with the constant red light and I’ve tried to trick it into coming on. I’ve plugged it in and switch a plug off about 10 times and it still didn’t work for me any advice I got two batteries like this and I need them to work.
Bummer. For some the batteries are too discharged to come back to life with this technique. Someone commented about another method that will likely work for deeply discharged batteries. Check it out.
