Formed in 2010. Their major debut single “ Ijme, dame, zettai" along with 2nd single “Megistune" both ranked in the Top 10 Oricon chart in Japan. In March 2014, they took to the stage of Nippon Budokan for a 2-Days gig making them the youngest female act to ever perform there. Their 1st studio album BAYBMETAL made it into the US Billboard chart. In summer of the same year, they embarked on their first World Tour, performing on the Main Stage at UK’s prodigious festival Sonisphere Festival 2014 in front of 65,000 festival goers, and supporting Lady Gaga on her “ArtRave: The Artpop Ball” 2014 Tour. In fall they were back for additional headline shows in Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City and O2 Academy Brixton, London. In January 2015, they headlined a show at the 20,000 capacities Saitama Super Arena, and in June 2015, they headlined a show at the 25,000 capacities Makuhari Messe. In summer of 2015, BABYMETAL received awards from prominent UK music magazines “Kerrang!” and “METAL HAMMER”. They then performed in front of a staggering 90,000 people at the prestigious Reading and Leeds Festival in August. This December, BABYMETAL are to take the stage again for 2 consecutive days at Japan’s Yokohama Arena pulling a total of 26,000 people before returning to the UK in April 2016 to headline London’s The SSE Arena, Wembley. on the real, im 38 and been into EDM the last 8 years, but love going back to my death/metal/core playlists and this is a classic. Makes sense that I am big into edm now, stuff like this, dark tranquility, CoB and all the electronic side of metal won me over lol
Im a 63 yr old retired producer musician and I love this more than anything,including my past favorites zeppelin,pink floyd,vanhalen.I think its the speed and the super high vocals that get me. Truly amazing all 3. I will follow them as long as I can.

Yo, Japanese and Korean acts have some of the best producers I've ever heard. They are absolutely phenomenal, especially many of the pop idol bands.
Im 60 and a fan of the 70´s like Led Zeppelin or else..but that stuff is future... sad that i discover them now they are "old"...they started with 12 / 13 in 2010 .

Idk what the lyrics mean, but as someone that listens to music of a few different languages, I find that the beauty of singing is that just the sound itself coming from one's mouth has the same effect as an instrument. It just phonetically sounds amazing. The meaning and story of the lyrics is just even more greatness.

So hard to believe I was 13 when I first discovered Babymetal through this song! I'm 23, almost 24 now and I'm still very much in love with their music even though their vocals have deepened and they've collabed with other bands. They're also the reason I've learned Japanese for so long, just so I could sing along to their music. They're amazing throughout the years and I really hope I can see them in concert one day to feel complete as a long-term fan. Thank you Babymetal for being so amazing!

I saw them yesterday for the first time as well in Amsterdam. Sadly, it was less than I'd hoped. But that was not really their fault. The audio was not set right. So the bass drowned out almost everything else. Which meant they had to really do their best to be audible over it, which was clearly a struggle.
But the energy they brought was amazing.

Hey!
In my honest opinion, this is one of he best metal songs of the 2010s. Something like this shouldn't work, but in this case it more than does. Super catchy, very melodic, phenomenal vocals, and a heavy breakdown. And the video is not only fun to watch, but very well produced and the choreography goes extremely well with the song. Anyone who doesn't see any of what I just said is just plain blind.
Not autistic in the slightest, just stating an honest opinion as someone who's been listening to metal for at least 15 years at this point and who's been digging this band for over a year. If you don't agree with me, that's too bad, bro.
It's just bringing something new to the table it doesn't mean that you have to like it or that it isn't really metal

This is the God's honest truth. It took me a second to realize what I was seeing, but when I did, I thought it the most coolest thing ever! So... I watched a reactor "react" to "Gimme Chocolate" and was kind of taken aback by what I had witnessed. The song was overtly energetic and catchy, yet also somewhat cheesy. But, the performance and musicianship was so on point and fresh. I was intrigued, so punched in a search. This is where I find myself and... WOW. That switch up at 1:50 is breathtakingly astonishing. I'm not a metal person in general (I just like Zeppelin and Tool) but... okay. I'm late but I'm here. BABYMETAL weekend listening session it seems is on the cards!

Suzuka is utterly fantastic. Thank the Fox God, Koba found her and showed her the metal. If he hadn't, I never would have heard that angelic voice. Her vocal tone is the best I've ever heard.

I kind of a agree with you, I am american but I wish people would try and take a look at japanese artist since they are so good and get overlooked and some Japanese artist songs get popular maybe one and it gets trendy and lots of people listen to it and then shortly later they will be forgotten, and I don't think every American likes kpop, I don't really enjoy kpop, and when it comes to japanese music I feel like SOME people focus on just the anime opening songs but don't even try to explore outside of it and etc.. (sorry my part when I talked about the anime opening part wasn't a good explanation I just didn't know how to explain it right)

Theres lots of exposure to Anime so thats what people see of japanese culture and its their go to reference for all things japanese. Japanese music is widely available for everyone on youtube though for anyone thats interested in digging a bit deeper.
