This video was produced 9 month ago, when I published my German video. So a few minor details might not be up to date anymore. Most importantly, the new master plan for the zoo has now been published. You can see the visualization of the future plans for Frankfurt Zoo here: www.zoo-frankfurt.de/de/zoobesuch-planen/zooplan/visuals-masterplan
Absolutely loving this new channel!!! Please keep it up :) Opening my eyes to the zoos of Europe! (I'm an Australian - this is a great counterpoint to "Zoo Tours" which has opened my eyes to the zoos of the USA)
Nice next Zoo for this channel. Great decision Martin! The Zoo is very interesting for the whole World of Zoo Visitors because of his great history and beautiful Species collection, well done!
Thank you for the video. I really like Frankfurt Zoo and am glad that the master plan now gives us real ideas about how the zoo should continue and how it should develop. These are great projects that are recorded in the master plan. Apart from that, other smaller projects are planned, such as additional outdoor facilities for the marmosets, which should be connected to the existing facilities. In addition, a new habitat is planned for, among other things, tree kangaroos and keas. I am very excited about the further development of Frankfurt Zoo and of course your channel.
Impossible to say. I'm always looking forward for something else, depending on what I didn't see in a long time. And oftentimes I get surprised by an animal I didn't expect to amaze me. 😊
With Zoo Frakfurt you can get an in-depth experience as an animal carer for a day. I got that as a birthday present, and can report how it was when i do that.
That sounds like a great experience. A few years ago I got to feed the giraffes in Copenhagen Zoo and it was fantastic, though when I was out of food, the giraffes could not care less about me... 😅
Wonderful review as always. I really enjoyed my visit last July; yes, there is room for improvement, but at the same time I really loved seeing so many rare animals in the Grzimek house especially, and I found the staff there to be very approachable and friendly. The zoo's in good hands, and regardless of what Frankfurt may be like as a city, I will definitely return to this zoo in the future! :D PS: a keeper mentioned that they kept kiwis in the Grzimek House at one point, but they got too stressed there. I visited on the same day as TONNES of school field trips and... Yeah, I can tell why.
@experiencethezoo To be fair, I only went there for a day (in which I visited both the zoo and the AMAZING Senckenberg natural history museum), but there does seem to be a lot of anti-Frankfurt rhetoric around. XD
@@Baradagi Haha, yes definitely. The quality of life in Frankfurt is supposed to be very high, but my impression of the city was always just okay. Never really did any sightseeing there though, so that might be unfair.
Speaking of yellow-backed duikers, a Dutch zoo recently announced that they will be getting some soon! Zooparc Overloon is building a new african area which will include numerous rarities, like the yellow-backed duiker, drill and brush-tailed porcupine!
When it comes to aye-ayes in mainland Europe, tierpark Berlin got them very recently so there's now 2 places in mainland Europe that house the species.
I miss Frankfurt zoo as one of my childhood zoo. I’m Korean but used to live in Kelkheim so I am looking forward if you have any plans on introducing Opel Zoo which was literally my home zoo
I'll probably only do that after I've been there again. The impressions from 2021 are almost too long ago now, even though I don't think that much has happened there since then.
What do you think of the big lake in the Frankfurt Zoo? Precisely because you can no longer expand due to its location in the middle of the city, do you think reducing the size of the lake would be an improvement, or do you think the lake should stay?
I would say that depends on what you make of it. Unfortunately, waterfowl will probably not return to the pond in large numbers due to bird flu and regulations. You can see on the plan that an aviary is planned there instead (where the gibbons currently live). However, I actually think that a monkey island on the pond would still look good. Then the space wouldn't be “wasted” and you could still preserve a part of the historic park. A large pond like this always looks good after all. :)
Do they still have that 'In with the spiders' exhibiton? It partly cured my fear of spiders and lots of tarantula youtubes videos since has cured it completely.
Hello! I'm wondering if you have aver been to some of the zoos we have in Poland. If so, what did you think of them? I'm curious how they stack up against the rest of Europe because I have only ever been to a few polish zoos and of those, I really liked the New Zoo in Poznań, though i think the zoo in Wrocław is more impressive to visitors.
Freshwater crocodiles are not very common in zoos and aquariums. I am lucky that the closest aquarium to me (Baltimore) has them. Funnily enough, Okapis are surprisingly common in American zoos, with 32 having them (more than all of Europe combined).
Dear Martin, could you please introduce Leipzig Zoo? Many members of the international zoo fan community would really appreciate it, as it is apparently one of the best in Europe!

If they go through with this, Leipzig and Berlin will have competition.
Absolutely loving this new channel!!! Please keep it up :)

Thank you! Sharing my videos with people around the world is also just a blast for me so far. :)

I visited Germany in August and went to three zoos.
Zoo Berlin
Tierpark Berlin
Tierpark Hellabrunn
Really liked all of them.
Hellabrunn is underrated.
Thanks for another great tour of a zoo. Will definitely visit, if I am around. Loved the seal enclosures.

Let's hope they can power through with their plans. Can't wait to see how the zoo will transform.
Not an octopus but a cuttlefish 21:27
I love your videos! I never heard of this zoo until now and I love how it has aye-ayes.
Thank you! 😊
@ You’re welcome! What are your favorite animals to see at a zoo?
Impossible to say. I'm always looking forward for something else, depending on what I didn't see in a long time. And oftentimes I get surprised by an animal I didn't expect to amaze me. 😊
I will visit one day for sure!
With Zoo Frakfurt you can get an in-depth experience as an animal carer for a day. I got that as a birthday present, and can report how it was when i do that.
Please do so :)

Sooo... you're not a big fan of Frankfurt (as a city) then? :D

I'm really excited for the new area. Overloon is already such a lovely park, but with this addition it will hopefully get even better!
Nice Video 👍🏻
Thanks! :)
I enjoyed my visit there in 2019, although jt has some obvious flaws, hope they can execute their master plan.
When it comes to aye-ayes in mainland Europe, tierpark Berlin got them very recently so there's now 2 places in mainland Europe that house the species.
Is that official now? I've known about it for a while, but I think they are still behind the scenes at the moment, aren't they?
@experiencethezoo Well it's been recorded on the Zootierliste website very recently.
Always love it when zootierliste is faster than the zoo itself. I don't think Tierpark Berlin has told anyone yet. :D
The mollusks in the aquarium are actually cuttlefish rather than octopi.

your welcome :)
Great Video :)
Thank you! :)
I hope they will realize the new masterplan. It will be a big improvement. Will you upload Jihlava and Usti next week?
Not yet. I will map out the next few weeks once I'm back home after christmas.
Ok. I can understand, that it is important for you to enjoy chrismas and to plan this channel well to be succesful.
Merry Chistmas
Merry Christmas to you as well! :)
Great Video ❤

Could you do a video on London zoo
I'm doing a big UK tour next year. Of course I'll be in London too. It's also the only zoo I've ever visited (in 2011). I really liked it back then!
Do they still have that 'In with the spiders' exhibiton? It partly cured my fear of spiders and lots of tarantula youtubes videos since has cured it completely.

I haven't been to Poland yet, but I probably will next year! :)
Would love to see a video about the new master plan. What is your opinion?
I've made a reaction video on my German channel when they published the masterplan. Not sure if I will make another video in English yet.
Nice Video 👍

I really like the great apes….thats the only enclosure that i visisted….i love viatu

Of course, I will definitely do that sooner or later. I'm just not sure yet whether I want to use a new video as an “excuse” to “have” to go again. :D
