This video is for all the people that come into my twitch chat asking for tips and how to start the game. Also I didn't mention it in the video but there is a way to farm Greyoll (the big dragon). If you run back to the grace soon as she dies then you'll get the runes and she respawns.
How do you know that the other ppl that put out videos only have 50 hours playtime? Just cause you sat in a basement and played for 2500 hours doesn't mean that the "actual souls youtubers" that have 1000 hours in aren't 100 times better than you.
You could probably play some meta PvP though if you use your nose as an extra finger. I can't believe you even show yourself looking like that 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
I gave up on this game a few years ago after so...many...damn...deaths. But tonight it clicked, I wasn't prepared. This guide prepared me, and I thank you. After countless deaths I finally took down my arch nemesis, the Tree Sentinel and the Night's Cavalry! I no longer fear the horsemen! I now seek them out...
31:38 "try not to die"
you saved my playthrough with this very sage wisdom, thank you youwy
Literally 100 percent this game... but I have the strongest need to watch every Elden Ring video I come across.
Same tbh lol
lol same
Same here I just can’t get enough of this masterpiece
I've never played a souls game ..and elden ring is my first
@@tonycruz3681 gl to you! I just hope you like it.
absolutely insane video, no other video goes so in depth for the first hour. went from not knowing a single thing to being able to comfortably play and understand what everything does. amazing video man.
every thing you stated above is totally wrong (which in some ways explains your handle) - this guy only has an opinions like: "the sword is better than the halberd" - "crafting is niche" - "shields are really not all that useful" - "if we go right up the middle, we're gonna get hit" - these statements are all totally bull-s........
YMMV, but one look at his character creation screen tells me, this YT person is a neophyte at ER gameplay. "Your" statement above - "no other video goes so in depth for the first hour" is also total bull as there are actually YT'bers that know and produce actually "walk-through" vids which are far more informative and instructional - like MajorSlackVideos or Aussie Gamer 17 for just 2 examples. Watching MSV's Vagabond vids will bear out what I've said here, teachin ya that crafting "is" an important tool in ER, as well as far more information to boot on tactics and strats to help folks kick gaming but without looking like a fool doing it....
ps - were I the type of person to downvote others, this vids would certainly be a prime candidate, and as a side note; the Groveside Cave has a boss any newbie can take-down, using nothing more than the Charge forth skill on the Halberd "youwy" dismissed in the opening of the game - which btw, would have gotten the player the Flamedrake Talisman and 1000 Runes, right outta the gate - not to mention it could have also taken down the entire Gatefront camp.
@@DwnRange you just seen sad to type all that and I’m not even gonna bother reading it lmao his video helped me that’s what matters
@@DwnRange i couldnt help but to come back to this and call you and absolute fucking dork, how weird and sad you must be to right such an ion depth comment over nothing LMao
@@DwnRange Bro is unbelievably pressed about a videogame 😂
@@DwnRangethat’s cool and all but this guide absolutely helped me more than most I’ve watched for my first run I started a few days ago
Very helpful, I just upgraded my PC and on a quest to download all games I've missed in the past 5 years! This was one of them!
Great video, thanks for the start!
One note was that this video was realllly hard to follow without pausing and rewinding frequently. And if you get a little lost you have to scan the video for landmarks to find out where the heck you are. Some map screenshots would have been incredibly useful.
He talks far too fast. Ive had to watch with the speed slowed down.
hey, im at the boss in the dugeon and have 18+ hours
Siofra River has a Somber 5 Stone and the Ghost Glovewort 1 through 5 for your summon. For an early OP Summon Banished Knight Engvall is very easy to get in the Catacombs all tge way up tge river that Patches Cave is on, where Yura helps you with the Bloody Finger invasion. 16 Mind is what it takes to summon him tho, so keep that in mind lol
Dude, I'd be lost without this video. Thanks for taking the time to put this together! My first attempt at streaming this was so difficult but now that I've prepped myself with your video I'm good to go!
I usually don’t comment on TH-cam videos but I just started Elden ring and had no idea what I was getting into for the most part. After finding this video though I’ve been saved!! Everything is so clear and easy to follow thanks so much for making this it really helped me :]]
Just starting the game and this is by far the most In depth guide I seen so far. Thanks!
Yeah
I’ve just started yesterday,it’s my very first souls like game!(ive always been into FPS shooters)
I’m loving it,but do find it difficult in places..especially the movement,it’s almost clunky like coming from the FPS side of things!
The music, and ability to sneak around and back stab is great!
I just get overwhelmed when I have say a giant in front of me and lots of NPCs firing crossbows.
Practice makes perfect though..and I accept the new challenge
@@RobAtkinson-wj4rcdid you get the hang of it. I played for my first time yesterday for a couple hours with no guide. It was rough. Hence me being here. I almost bounced off it. I’m gonna try again today. Did the game click for you?
This is exactly the video I needed the first time I ever played this game... It's the first souls game I've ever played and about half of my first 50 hours with this game was spent learning how the game works lol this video would've helped me so much
500 getting to know the game is crazy. I was debating to keep following the guide at 45 mins but this comment made me realize that I will continue the guide
when i first got the game some people dropped me a load of runes enough to go to lvl 303 but i quit cause even wit the lvls i was buns. now Im back to play it the right way and experience it the fun way especially before shadow of the erdtree drops
Even though this video is only 90 mins long, this literally took me a whole day (and a bottle of wine!). Can't wait for the DLC .......
I'm at 25 mins and it took me two bottles of days and 1 wine... 😂
That's what I like to hear lol
A good reason to start with crafting is that you can make and use fire arrows to great effect in Stormveil. There are fire barrels everywhere, and you can blow up enemies from stealth with a fire arrow. All the servants and most of the birds in that place can be blown up. Poison arrows are great for them stupid bell bearing hunters (the red Night, Knights/Try night, but hole.)
I have been struggling in this game and even deleted it a couple times. Thank you man, I’m really e going this game
I appreciate the idea of this video because I was thinking for a beginner walkthrough but didnt wanna watch one from the week of the games release..
Great video, I am just getting into elden ring and it’s such a hard but addictive and fun game, I now have all the information I need
when youwy released the skybox tier list video i thought he was in trouble. i thought “this man has lost it. fromsoft give him the dlc before he starts making tier list about grass!” now we are here and he is still making solid videos and it seems his sanity is still intact.
Man everytime i wanna try elden ring I watch one of these videos and lose all motivation..who wants to all this before starting the actual game..
You don't have to. I'm new to souls games and I'm 12 hours in and level 30 and have killed a bunch of bosses. You have all the stuff you need in the first area to progress, this isn't necessary.
You don't have to do any of this. You can just play the game and explore. Some people would rather get powerful before they actually play the game, for various reasons.
In my case, I beat the game twice when it was released and am playing again and forgot where a couple of the items are. But my first run was totally blind. I didn't look any of this stuff up. You can absolutely do it
If you start playing u will know that videos like this are absolutely needed among new players cus even if you do exactly everything this video’ve shown, you’ll still get absolutely wrecked by the very first tree sentinel that you see right at the start.
This is more just to cheese your character to make it easier, you can progress normally just fine.
Nice video mate. You actually leave info on the screen long enough to see it. And you explain everything 👍🏻.
What level is your character on after 2000 hours?
thank you so much, this helped me a lot ❤
great vid! gave me an awesome head start and as someone who's new to the souls genre this is exactly what i needed. THANKS!
Plan on getting the game during the next steam sale. Preciate the vid🙋🏽♂️
Update: got the game a while ago, now have around 150hrs. Fantastic game would recommend to all
News of DLC depot... And youwy posting a video for new players.
The stars are aligned my friends... DLC news imminent!! 🎉🎉
you were correct
Best guide so far I have seen. Thanks
This video was awesome! I got very frustrated with the game and never have played a souls type game and your explanations helped me a ton
great vid thanks for the content
pov: you bought the game when it came out but still havent played it since its so overwhelming
Kinda my situation openworld game like this is hard and theres not rlly a guide
@@user-oq3ll1iz8i i get it. i had gotten it cause a friend had, and they told me what to do and it made 0 sense😂
Same it’s too confusing and they don’t show hints on how to equip certain things or where to go
@@mingi1489 the site of graces will point in the direction you should go fyi
For the troll carts, you can also follow them until they reach their destination if you happen to be struggling with killing one of them, though this might take a while lol
Finally, wondering when you would do this
Love my souls games yet held off on this for a while. Fantastic and informative video
I’m at an inbetween place. Have played 130 hours and am level 53. But Im a bit lost as to where to go next. Got a load of caves and dungeons Ive not explored plus various quests. Ive not finished Stormveil Castle either. Then there’s the building up stats thing.
Im surprised with your views on attacking on horseback 😮. That has saved my life so many times. It was a bit clunky at first but now I can do it with my eyes shut. So easy to run around an enemy hacking at them, and if you have to sprint away to drink some potion thats easily done too. The giants, in particular, go down really easily doing this.
Thx bro apreciate the guide👊
Ty for this. Good stuff
To any new players the only thing that is really useful to make with crafting is the gold pickled fowl feet which gives you around 50% more runes from enemies you kill. The cookbook can be purchased from patches in murkwater cave. Very helpful for leveling up quicker
This is such a helpful video! Keep up the awesome work boss!
Heeeey thank you for this guide 😭 I just started today due to the dlc drop and this has been really helpful
You’re a legend bro
Decided to play elden ring for the first time, after reading all reviews, btw I am not a fan of souls game. Tried to follow this video, till I get the blood fang and level up up to +4, decided to fight tree sentinel for the first time and I only died 3times then finally beat it. I am very happy 😂. Thanks mate. Spending 10hrs just to follow every step in this video.
Dude you are going way too fast
I'm pausing non stop lol
I think he is just trying to fit in as much info as he can for us without the video being crazy long. All I did was watch, pause, play……watch pause play….😊.
Slow the video down it’s 2024 how do people not know how to use the internet yet da fuq
@TheShaggyarab ah, so you're also a adhd riddled crackhead.
God peaked when he made the pause button
I have had Elden ring in the ps5 for so long and finnaly decided to play it hopefully this helps
I just started the game a few days ago, beat tree sentinel and then didn't feel like exploring the open world so I hope this video puts me back on track
what a godsend
how is it?
Beat most of the game by now
Have been stalling on trying malenia for a few days now, basically just her and the final boss left
Had a lot of fun with the game
@@kinggamereon653 is hard for someone that never played a souls?
@@raiden_131 idk, I played ds3 and sekiro before so I had some experience. Besides Malenia most bosses went down quite easily tbh. The game offers so many tools to make yourself op.
Vagabond for min/max Faith builds that demand 12 or more dex for weapons, Prophet for pure faith and Strength Faith. I nervous sweat with anything higher than 10 dex.
Thank you bro
i got a good tip for new players. start with the samurai ts the most balanced one to use, katana sword is also really strong with bleed loss.
Man I gave this game a try and it’s a beautiful game but I got discouraged didn’t know how to start or where to go thanks for this I realize Elden ring is one of those games if ur new to souls games ur going to need a basic tutorial cause it doesn’t guide u well
Same sadly that’s also the reason why i’m returning it… having to look everything up sucks
Thanks for the video, good stuff. But a quick map shot of location when approaching a step, especially after FF your playthrough would be great!
Hey thanks so much guy! Easy sub and like! Just bought the Game and its downloading right now. Late as hell to it but Mythic Raiding Wow just destroys peoples brains like mine. hahaha! Meaning i enjoy a Good game and cant believe im just starting, so thanks man.
THANK YOU for this, really needed it!
Nice Guide. Does following it break any quest lines?
dude need part 2!!!
Horseback combat depends on what kind of player you are. There are some mini bosses and bosses I only defeated by being on a horse. That's because I'm more of a hit and run or slash and dash kind of player. Basically throw a few hits then run to either dodge the boss attack or recover some health. If I try it with face on combat, I get killed.
Try doing combat both ways and you'll find out what kind of fighting style works for you.
Dude over 900 hrs and I just learned you only have to hit the trolls once to get them to stop
I did everything up until 1:12:00 , should I just do limgrave and the castle before trying to go to Caelid and Liurnia?
Allegedly the expansion is suppose to be coming on February and if so im goin back to get my character and build right .
40:37
I got jipped. I lead him around the bridge corner but he went on the ledge with me. I jumped around trying to escape i fell off and died, he fell off and died. I got the the gold ash of war but never got the runes. I ran back to pick them up. Thinking there was 55k there, i swallowed a golden foot. Nothing. Nada. I had 0 runes to begin with before i fell off. My rune pick up marker had 0.
Edit: i was farming the metal ball drop, got up to 82k then randomly it gave me 9,720 runes.
If you talk to Blaidd in the ruins where you got the Axe Talisman he will help you fight the Bloodhound Knight for the Bloodhounds Fang Curved Greatsword and he will give you a Somber 2 Stone.
And let you buy the talisman from the giant blacksmith outside of the manor
Nice work, youwy. A fresh beginner's guide makes sense with DLC looming, as that likely draws new players who decide to buy both original/DLC content at once. Plus, if you wanted, you could easily expand the "beginner" series with shorter videos on more specific topics according to whatever categories make sense. Could be beginners guide to two-handed-sword build, dual-weapon, build, incantation build, sorcery build, etc. It could be beginners guide to poise break build, status proc, intelligence spells, faith spells, etc. It could be beginner's guide to swords, axes, hammers, spells. Lot of ways to go with it for new content.
Would you pick vagabond or confessor for a strength/faith build? Confessor has more drip if I say so ;)
I think the biggest thing for new players is the site of grace point to where you need to go , I tried playing when the game was new and it being my 1st time playing a dark souls game I was so confused on what I was supposed to be doing I didn't touch the game till months later. maybe I'm just really stupid
While I agree you don't need to worry about crafting, don't ignore it either. Acquire as many materials and cookbooks as you can because later on in the game there maybe some items you will find useful to craft. Even if you don't use the materials you acquired, you can sell them for runes and that be more for you to spend.
Just got myself a copy of the game. I also have been using mouse and keys. As a player who has more experience with a controller, it's been hell learning the key binds. I'm about to buy an Xbox controller.
You picked up several somber 7's on top of that rock in Caelid / dragon burrow. You can literally have a plus 9 somber just doing exactly what you did
Great video, followed everything... I'm at the point where I have the katana (which I don't use because the long sword is better?). But still in getting killed instantly when fighting bloodhound King 😂😂
do you have one of these for astrologer (or int/mind build)?
BEST BEGINNERS GUIDE 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Where do you get the bleed grease or what ever it’s called
Why can‘t i go through to the boss on the lather part of this video in the dungeon? The ladder is not down. What should I do so I can go there? Thanks
Believe it or not , i just wished a video like this yesterday and i looked for it but didn't find anything, this was in the right moment! Thanks
thank you i havent played any souls games since bloodborne and DS3 and feel like such a noob all over again 😂 time to git gud
47:28 this merchant has some nice stuff
Good video! Helped me out a lot coming back after a good 2+ year break. I'll admit.. it was challenging following you through a few areas that I didn't remember, but once I paused and figured out those spots I was good to go. One little thing about golden runes that wasn't mentioned that i'm sure new players will appreciate is that you don't lose them when you die... I always save my runes and use them for something specific. Whether it be leveling up or buying something, I try to be as close to zero runes as i can, only using golden runes to get to that mark.
died like a million times to Margit but this video was all I needed
Elden ring is my first souls game, i was straight up getting molested for 5 hours straight before I got mad and started to fight on a horse back, I didn’t go against a boss yet bcs I know I ain’t gonna be able to use my horse but I can take on whole groups of enemies no matter how strong and never get hit, the only thing that can manage to hit me on torrent is a giant and even that only if he has a sword. I kinda feel like a sucker for playing it like this but on a horseback I‘m able to earn runes and level up until I‘m strong enough to take enemies head on
I'm 4 Hours in and I still keep dying to the Tree Sentinel
Can u show how to get mimic tear without fighting radahn please 😊
Thanks for making this Noob Tube! Lol
Im not getting the same items. Diffirent for disk copy of ps4 maybe? Don't have internet hooked up yet so it's just base game no updates
Why did I watch this whole thing, I have a couple hundred hours on like 3 separate playthroughs😂
Hello Man i just bought the game yesterday and i feel a little lag every 5 or 10 seconds it's almost imperceptible but it bothers me, im playing in PC so i though that my pc is not enough for the game but watching your gameplay i see that little lag too so my question is, the game runs with that "lag" always?
I like how my first character got the nights cavalry the first try and my second has died 6 times 😐
Buddy fell to the edge then jumped back on the rock…. I’m just going to redo playthrough
me 6 hours in the game exploring and still trying to free the castle watching this O.o
I would recommend stone sword key r the starter item
Thanks man, playing my first walkthrough. Helped out a bunch!
Thank you for this guide dude.
Feel like this vid is both good, well done although rushed for us beginners especially, but also somewhat a mistake (for most beginners) as it's telling likely too much. I mean, exploring the world and looking around is a big deal I think with games like this. But if one follows this before actually starting playing normally, then a lot is just passed by so fast already without that new and good impression.
Now you need to make a video in the second hour because i have no idea what im supposed to be doing 😭
My first hour was spent roaming the map and not knowing what to do😢
While I appreciate the effort that went into this guide, a beginner will not be able to remember everything that was laid out for them. You'd have to have a good deal of experience exploring in the game (i.e. someone with 2500 hrs 😉) to run around equipping yourself before actually playing the game. My advice to a beginner? Glean the advice from the beginning regarding how to start you character and why you shouldn't use certain mechanics such as heavy load, etc. and just learn by trial and error and exploration.
What? I'm a beginner, this is my first Souls game ever. I'm only 35 minutes in and this video has helped me tremendously, and I have remembered many things that are laid out thus far in my viewing. I was absolutely lost before watching this guide as there is little direction in this game compared to other RPGs such as Skyrim or even WoW which I've played both a lot. This game is an RPG, yes, but it's so different.
I think most people watching this guide are playing the game and following this video as a guide and not watching the whole thing in one sitting and then going to play the game like you are suggesting. Also, you can always go back and explore the world after the guide. That's the nice thing about games like these. You can play them however you wish and aren't bound to doing things in a set order.
Vagabond: Pretty good shield. Pretry good weapons.
1 thing I don’t like about this game and I get as an exploration part this game is massive but the story is by far the shortest out of any game I have played like the end boss for the story is practically right round the corner from the tree sentinel at the start of the game like there are no quests it literally points you in Margits direction and you can then go and further explore which to me is a massive comedown like I don’t see the motive nor incentive to have the final main story boss literally at the start of the game and to make it worse, have the 3-4 “grace” checkpoints pointing you to it
How do you put the golden vow on the dagger? In other words, where did you find the golden vow?
Nvm I found it!
Where did he pick up the blood grease I missed that part I think lol.
Why upgrade longsword when other sword is better?cant you upgrade that one ?
1:17 every starting armor is NOT accessible at the beginning of the game. Example: confessor armor isn’t available until Altus.
Yeah im brand new player just play 550h into the game
the walk through was going really well except the last 30-40 minutes hes fast forwarding so fast to the point that i had to slow the video to understand what hes doing and still barely missing a few things
Where did the first pickled foot come from?
Bro the Calvary mf just hits me through the wall everytime
On the bridge? He’s terrible. He knocks me into next week EVERY time lol
