As soon as I received the notification for this video, I grabbed my writing pad and pen, fully aware that I would be adding a few more titles to my ever-expanding TBR list. I haven't been on TH-cam for a while, so I was delighted when your video appeared in my feed.
Me too! This channel is such a valuable resource!

"a botanical daughter", "lost
in the garden", "private rites"
and "a woman of pleasure"
will probably be among my
next readings, due to your
contagious enthusiasm! 😊
(the banana break, so funny!)
I don't read enough new books. I did read Aftershock at your -insistence- recommendation, and it completely blew me away. And I'm sure I'll love Private Rites when it's out in the US in December. I'm looking into some of the others in the meantime.
Great reviews/recommendations as usual. To be clear, my fave Almada is Not a river.
Btw, you're supposed to peel it the other way around to avoid the 'strings', trust me. 🍌 😅
YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO WHAT
‘A Botanical Daughter’ is going on my TBR.
I’ve only read two 2024 releases so far, and both were just okay 😅 I will be reading Private Rites as soon as I can get my hands on it though! It sounds so fantastic, and I loved Our Wives Under the Sea. I’ve also been meaning to pick up A Botanical Daughter. I should get on that
As someone who doesn't tend to read recently published books, I appreciate you discussing some of the best you've read from this year. Added a couple to the list, and who knows, perhaps I'll read some this year (cough*Not a River, Private Rites, Aftershock*cough). There are also a couple writers on your list I want to read, so I will at a minimum pick up one of their books. As an aside, love your shirt and background bunny.
I just requested that my library acquire Aftershock so I can check it out!
Wow. Not only did you Meet an author you interviwed them. Lucky you.
Dont think I have read 10 books published this year. I tend to do backlist books, not on purpose it just happens.
Great video. As you talked about each book I thought to myself I'll start with that one, no wait this one, no the one from the Argentinian, wait Korean, no no the Chinese writer Aftershock, because I live in California and we're overdue plus I like books about ordinary people and their past relatives. Dammit I'll just get them all, (except the ones I've already bought because of your earlier reviews), you make them all sound excellent and intriguing.
This is so lovely, thank you 💜
Not A River was my favourite surprise of the year. When I saw it in the shop I didn't know she'd published it - and promptly lunged for it. I'm so enamoured by the conflict here between determination, obstinacy, identity, and the hopelessness that's still staring them in the face. So much crammed into an 85 page book.
I've cleared my stash of library books so I'm excited to start my copy of A Woman Of Pleasure tonight
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO HATES THE BANANA STRINGS 😭😭😭 THANK GOD I’M NOT ALONE
Hei. I love your videos and book suggestions. I had one request. May be some day you can do a video with your favourites about Indie books. Will love to check out that list.
Ordered Botanical Daughter & Jelly Massacre in an instant after watching. 🙏
As usual, you have added books to my list 😊
I wasn’t sure about lost in the garden because I couldn’t put my finger on what it was about and thanks to you I think I’m finally convinced to read it 🌸
Soooo interested by a botanical daughter as well 🤩
Thank you for this video
Amazing as always and Have a nice month of july 🐳🐌🦋
Willow says to give love to a book she adores aka Aftershock = I buy the book😄
Me emociona ver No es un río de Selva Almada, lo compré hace poco por tu recomendación. Irónicamente nunca había escuchado de ella por personas hispanohablantes
I hate the stringy bits too 😂
I want to read Tchaikovsky but have no idea were to start, any recommendation? (would be a good video too, I think)
You really can’t go wrong. Everything I’ve read by Tchaikovsky has been stellar. If you’d prefer a shorter novel/novella then maybe Elder Race. If you prefer longer books and series than Children of Time trilogy is something special.
All the books sound great, Thanks for the recommendations, but what does the banana mean? Is it code for, these books are Bananas!
She named herself after the banana tree because it has beautiful flowers :)
Wow so much helpfull information in this video, I personally don't like to promote anything in the comments but I simply have to share this book that I found called Money Grins the greatest book if you want to be successful
Oh absolutely not, no, shoo, begone with your weird grift!
@@WillowTalksBooks I just want to make people aware
Stopped at 1:03 to have a banana with you! 🍌
dear Willow, i would appreciate if you added a segment in your video of your position about Palestine or reccomended Palestinian authors :]
I already have :) th-cam.com/video/tAzzt2iNaY4/w-d-xo.html
@@WillowTalksBooks that's wonderful!🫂❤️🔥 i should have properly gone through your videos!
I really loved the vibes/ atmosphere of lost in the garden. The slow build. It felt like a perpetual summer. The book as a whole was sort of ruined for me though by Heather. I've never read a more annoying character in my life and you have to spend so much time with her
Peel the banana from the bottom. No stringy bits...
idk.. from all those Aftershock sounds like the least interesting one
Okay
