  • DIY for remove & install FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS - BMW Motorrad R1150R maintenance
    #WheelBearing #FrontAxle #BMWMotorrad #BMWR1150R
This bearing replacement is proactive maintenance. I recommend changing after 100 tkm at the latest. My motorcycle has been driven about 82tkm.
    - Diagnosis & maintenance BMW Motorrad R1150R 2003 engine R28.
    - Raise the front of the motorcycle
    - Remove the front fender
    - Remove the brake caliper securing screws
    - Hold one end of the axle and remove the bolt of the quick-release axle
    - Loosen or remove clamping screws of quick-release axle
    - Remove quick-release axle with spacer
    - Remove speedometer drive
    - Release brake caliber from brake disks from both sides
    - Do not apply handbrake lever or footbrake lever with brake calipers removed/front wheel removed
    - Integral ABS!! When removing and installing the brake calipers, carefully force back the pistons only far enough to ensure that the wheel-circuit reservoir does not overflow
    - If fluid escapes, top up the level in the wheel-circuit reservoir to “MAX” mark.
    - Remove front wheel
    - Remove shaft seal, driving dog and lock ring
    - Expand the hub by heating; Heat bearing seat to 100 °C
    - Remove old bearings with hammer and extension arm
    - Turn the sleeve between the bearings from side to side to allow you to hit the inner circumference of the bearing
    - Remove front wheel hub spacer tube
    - The cold shrinks so the bearings come straight from the freezer
    - Install the new bearings (parts: 36318534835, 31422335824)
    - It is a good idea to use the old bearing as a tool when installing the new one
    - You will feel the beating when the bearing is at the bottom up
    - Install lock ring
    - Make sure you install the driving dog in the correct direction. Otherwise the speedometer will not work!
    - The bearing set came with the wrong size gasket so I decided to use an old gasket
    - Be sure to put the wheel hub spacer back in place before you put another bearing !!
    - Be sure to add grease to the inside edge of the gasket
    - Be sure to install the speedometer in the correct position
    - The brakes are not ready for use until the brake pads have been bedded against the brake discs with the ignition switched on.
    Bolt of quick-release axle ............................ 30 Nm
Clamping screws of quick-release axle ...... 20 Nm
Brake caliper to fork slider .......................... 30 Nm

What's a good method to test the bearings to see if they need replacement? I've got 120k miles on my bike, no idea if the bearings are original, but I don't notice any play or any strange noises.

Riding a r1100s and also r1150r. Wheel is off the r 11:00 ss and have been trying to get that bearing out with no luck I seem to not be able to catch the edge to drive it out and obviously have no puller. Any suggestions will be appreciated

Go to the local bearing dealer and get
5204/3204RS and 6204RS. and you have exactly the same. Only for a lot less money
