The typical drum section of a Civil War brass band normally had three instruments. They were the rope tension (side) snare drum, the bass drum, and the cymbals.
God, so many typing errors! Sorry about that. When the soldiers appeared at the top of the hill the slowly started down the hill and disappeared when they reached the street. I remember seeing the guns and I also heard the clanking of them. The whole family saw them. It was thrilling. That is one amazing evp you captured! Thank you for sharing it.
ok listening again, ;et me rephrase this...it IS a drum roll ( obviously) but more specifically, I served in ft huachuca arizona and when we did changing of the commanding officer they played a tune that sounds very very close to what is heard here as the retiring commander hands the company flag to the new commander.I grew up in the woods and never heard a leaf crunch like that so im not sure how one mistakes it for leaves.
I have a really good feeling that the sound is a drummer boy playing a few rolls on the snare. Personally I play drums and the sound defiantly sounds like the snare drum.
That is one amazing evp. That is definently the sound of old drums. Incredible. You can tell it's not of this plane. You can tell it's from another time. Our family used to take trips to gettysburg all the time in the 90s and early 2000s. I miss it so much. We moved, though after living in pennsylvania for 12 years. On one trip to gettysburg at halloween time we were sitting in the car looking a spirit sightings. Suddenly about soldiers appeared on the hill above little round top.
really cool. however, it is not unusual to hear drums in gettysburg at any point in the year. just keep that in mind. the drum rythm sounds like Da Dun dun da dun dun dun dun, which I can't identify. being a reenactor of the Civil War myself, (drummer), I cant believe this to be hardcore evidence because there are too many possibilites.
I played this to a friend of mine. We are both civil war history majors and reenactors there is a light quick drum we had to amp up to hear. Then the main one it sounds like it is left flank followed by the start of the command for March. So left flank march is where the whole formation moves using the right side as the turning point of the whole unit.
@Tamaslammer ...on the drums you have...they were much more new and crisp sounding then the old ones you have im sure..when they were new and not over 100 years old..and even if you put new skines on them you are useing skines that are new and way better then what they had...did they use the snare? thats my ? .....i thought they just had a reg drum...and in the vid he made,it sounds like a snare
wow... As someone who plays rope tension field drums... that is what you caught...are you sure there were no groups or drums being played in the distance because they do carry a LOOOOONNNG way...but very nice...
replying to my own comment: I had the TV going when i first reviewed this. I ramped up the volume and turned the TV down. There is definately something deliberately rythmic here and it doesnt sound as much like leaves anymore either... good catch.
You DO NOT need special equipment to hear an EVP.... all you need is a good pair of headphones and an audio program (which you can download free on the net) ......good catch, sounds like snare drum.
I've been hunting since guns were longer than I was tall. I am 99.9% certain you are listening to dry leaves crunching. That is certainly not the hollow rattling/pinging of snare/kettle drums, of that I am also certain. There was a bird in a limb of dead leaves or something that you did not take note of at the time you filmed it.
@testfoecho (...and later that year : D) Well don't get me wrong.... I'm a huge paranormal fan too, and i really do hope it's a real drum corps from the past. That would be the coolest thing ever.
I am so new to this subject that it depends on what you believe. If you want to go to a spiritual/religious side then chances are you will believe there is something else out there. Angels for instance. If go go to a scientific side. Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it just takes on differant forms. People=energy. So I think it comes down to a matter of beliefs
If anyone knows what the different drum rythms mean... is this drum beat / evp a message to the soldiers. I guess I am asking a re enactor a question...
thanks for the comment, I do know they have meaning but I'll have to research it a little more, unless a reenactor or historian will somehow read this and give their insight on it. This was caught in the early morning so whether this command had something to do with the 20th Maine being moved over to Cemetary Ridge on July 3rd or not, I'm not quite sure
I went for school on a field trip and I was so dissapointed nothing happened to me. xDD My one friend said he got a weird feeling, though. I guess that's something, though nothing I experienced. I'll have to go back at night, I guess.
We have been there numerous times the past few years. This evp for example was caught on a Sunday morning at about 7 am, we had no intentions of going back out to investigate anymore after we had already done it for 3 nights previous. But I wanted to give it one more shot before we headed home. I am still skeptical about paranormal activity unless I experience it for myself, and this evp seems to persuade me to look into this stuff a little more. thanks for the comment and keep trying
at first, I also though it could be gunfire but there is a definite rhythm to it and doing some research it does sound like a snare drum for back then.
i think its a good evp...and yes EVP. EVP do not only have to consist of voices. One comment was that metal was scarce and seldom had snare wires. Key word...SELDOM not NEVER. This could have been one of the SELDOM drums ringing out through time. Lets just keep an open mind. Either way its cool.
though there is good ghost activity at gettysburg, that is not one of them. The drum I hear is not a drum that would have been used in the civil war, it is a modern steel snare drum. It was probably coming from the school or something. But keep on hunting!! There is great stuff to get caught at gettysburg!!
true to my word this is a legitimate recording of something I cannot explain. Not that I am a professional Ghost hunter or even an amateur to explain it, but I do have an ear for drums and would have caught this at 7am If they were reenactors. thanks for the comment, I am still speechless at how well this recording came out
@testfoecho I have been to Gettysburg yrs ago with my son, husband, mother and other family and we were there from early am til a little past dusk and I can DEFINITELY tell you WITHOUT a DOUBT that it is VERY HAUNTED there... I took LOTS of pics and when we came home and I had them developed, I got MANY "orbs" and many other "anomalies" in our pics... let the HATERS and non believers rant on, maybe if they went there they would have simliar experiences... dont know... some ppl are more intune.
If you are referring to how well this sounds, thanks for the compliment. Trust me, if I heard this from anyone else, I wouldn't believe it either. Whether you believe it or not, this is what I caught, and you have your own opinion about it. But really, thanks.
I actually thought of this before because you always hear people capturing evp's of voices especially in real time. So why would i capture a drum line? there are many theories with a parellel universe and separate plane but they are just not in the same physical sense we are. just like science and medicine had to be discovered so too one day, someone will find out about where the energy goes when a human dies. technically it is paranormal because it cannot be explained by science. thanks
@testfoecho Yeah, I remember shady. Don't mind him. He's someone who's vastly immature and goes around youtube posting stupid comments to be an ass. As for the video, it does sound like a drum and there has been drums heard in civil war paranormal recordings before. It's usually a residual haunting.
Is it fake? not to me. this is what I captured. I wasn't playing the drum nor do I know who was. I was putting this out there for people to hear and comment on. Read the description. to get a recording this clear it would have to be closer than the college, middle, grade schools. Do all evp"s have to sound like incomprehensible white noise? This phenomena is far from any scientific answer right now. maybe some of the seasoned investigators are jealous at beginners luck. but this was not faked.
I have been playing drums awhile and I definitely would have noticed if someone was playing drums at 7am. I would also think that I would have caught more drums because I recorded a good 15mins before and after this recording but, i am not sure how reenactors work their routines. I can only give you my word that no one was around. thanks for commenting
Oh, btw, you can hear, at my other profile Stickyboogarz, some investigation evidence I've already posted here...apparently I thought i was in that profile when I'd posted this comment. XD
I don't see why you couldn't catch drums on an EVP. There have been many instances of other unexplainable musical instruments, guitars, pianos, organs. Why not drums?
Gettysburg20thMaine the drums sounds like two commands together. Opens as left flank but turns to march. I can't remember and can't find my books on it but was that a command used on round top?
You're fucking wrong... I'll show you a civil war era snare that i own with metal snare wires. Not all of them were cat gut or rawhide. Give me your e-addy and I'll send you a pic.

I definetly heard the drums. Very neat!
thing is is the drums of the period did not sound like snare they had a softer and deeper sound to em
That is one amazing evp. That is definently the sound of old drums. Incredible. You can tell it's not of this plane. You can tell it's from another time.

I was in the same area last month and recorded what sounded like multiple cannon or musket fire. The sounds seemed to be coming from far away.
Different drum cadences had different meanings. I wonder what command was being played at that moment. Anyone know?
Tamaslammer, you have to remember he's using a camera, that appears to not be HD, which can easily pick up sounds on a higher pitch.
Hell no that WAS a drum! There's no way that leaves made that sound!
sounded to me like a drum roll.
Now THAT is scarey! That's one of the ghost drummer boys, right?

Well don't get me wrong.... I'm a huge paranormal fan too, and i really do hope it's a real drum corps from the past. That would be the coolest thing ever.
my other evp sounds great on my computer but it is a little fuzzy here on youtube
I'm not an expert by all means, but it kind of sounds like musket fire to me. Nice post.
I believe you. I know people that went there on a trip, and heard soldiers walking.
I am so new to this subject that it depends on what you believe. If you want to go to a spiritual/religious side then chances are you will believe there is something else out there. they r good at the drum
That's cool nice capture!
dude i cood hear drums. awsome
this was the legitimate recording and not doctored in anyway(except to cut out the extra 30 mins of questions with no response).
thanks for the comment, I do know they have meaning but I'll have to research it a little more, unless a reenactor or historian will somehow read this and give their insight on it. WOW!! That is one of the most awesome EVP's I have ever heard!! It is very clearly a drum answering you! Got any more?
so sad a lot of them aren't at rest : (

I hope your not pulling our leg with this EVP. If your not, its a great catch! Please tell me your not joking with us. I want to believe!
at first, I also though it could be gunfire but there is a definite rhythm to it and doing some research it does sound like a snare drum for back then.
i think i here it in the begining im not sure
That's pretty incredible. I spend tons of time doing EVP work on the Battlefield and I have never gotten anything this good.
i think its a good evp...and yes EVP. EVP do not only have to consist of voices. One comment was that metal was scarce and seldom had snare wires. Key word...SELDOM not NEVER. This could have been one of the SELDOM drums ringing out through time. Lets just keep an open mind. Either way its cool.
Hey for all you guys know it could have even been the sounds of ghostly gun shots in the distants??

not in to ghost but that sounds like gun fire!
I have seen many soldiers at gettysburg around little round top wat u are hearing is the sound of drums on the last min of battle
I have EVPs that are sounds and not voices, it happens, why, couldn't tell ya. I'll post those soon.
guns going off

It did sound like a snare drum! Awesome.
Out of all of the Gettysburg EVP's I have heard, this is my favorite.
I couldn't hear a thing!
@testfoecho I have been to Gettysburg yrs ago with my son, husband, mother and other family and we were there from early am til a little past dusk and I can DEFINITELY tell you WITHOUT a DOUBT that it is VERY HAUNTED there... Interesting.

Yeah - good catch, I'd definitely have to go with EVP on that one...
thanks again, would the snare back then, sound like what I have captured. I am not familiar with the sounds of instruments back then.
I saw Bigfoot there honest.
@testfoecho Yeah, I remember shady. Don't mind him. He's someone who's vastly immature and goes around youtube posting stupid comments to be an ass.

u have to have special equiment to hear an EVP and i doubt a teenager has that.
If it's a hoax, it's a hoax. If not, then all I have to say is "wow."
I didn't see or hear any thing
I have been playing drums awhile and I definitely would have noticed if someone was playing drums at 7am. It seems patience is key. so don't expect something to happen, just wait for it it to.
drum roll
wishful thinkin g and creativity

Sounds like machine gun fire, something they wish they had back then, although didn't they have Gatling guns back then?
Could be real. When I was there a few days ago I got gunshots and cannon shots on recording. They are in my video on my page.
That sounds like multiple drums somewhat far away. That'd be a shitload of effort to go through to fake it so I say it's authentic
Gettysburg20thMaine the drums sounds like two commands together. Opens as left flank but turns to march. I can't remember and can't find my books on it but was that a command used on round top?
Wow. =/
@testfoecho like what comment back to him again? FAIL!
i wouldn't waste all this time commenting back to people if this was faked, i have better things to do than that
lol look at the picture does it move at all problem solved lol
You're fucking wrong...
I'll show you a civil war era snare that i own with metal snare wires. Not all of them were cat gut or rawhide. Give me your e-addy and I'll send you a pic.
@testfoecho like what comment back to him again? FAIL!
