Luckily we also have DNA testing that shows now days local origins that can be dated back to thousands of years before Christ and we can make fun of dummies that cannot google or read factual literature. There is extremely low close to 0 Turkic DNA or North East Slavic for that matter in modern bulgarians DNA. DNA testing actually shows gradient migration from the Balkans to all corners of Europe. So DNA actually debunks modern migration historians and shows migration from the Balkans to all corners of Europe. DNA shows that all Europeans are actually antient Balkans not the other way around... There has been no record written or historic to back the Turkic origin of locals in Bulgaria but hey... you are free to believe what ever you want even flat earth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_studies_on_Bulgarians
@ that doesn’t change the fact that the Bulgarian people started off as Turkic lmao, just because they’ve been constantly marrying into other Slavic peoples and getting rid of their Turkic DNA over time doesn’t mean that their Turkic side never existed, to say that would be lying and hard cope lol. And no all Europeans don’t date back to Balkans they date back to the Yamnaya who were on the Blck sea steppe not the Balkans. But like you said you can believe whatever you like, even unicorns. And there’s plenty of evidence that tells us the Bulgarians were Turkic, like I said to ignore that would be lying to yourself. Ik that Bulgarians and people from the Balkans in general hate having to face the fact that their people tend to be a mix of several ethnic groupes but that’s just simply the case.
@@billychops1280why it’s even a problem tho? Check russian people, how people even consider them slaves if it’s a huge mix of Finnish tribes with Turk tatars, but they consider themselves as Slavic because of the belief that they came from Kyivan Rus. Bulgarians are more Slavic culturally and genetically. But either way Bulgarian culture was created that long time ago that there’s almost no any reminders of Turk background
Todor is severely underpowered and he never establishes an independent state in my games. He should have at least twice the amount of soldiers IMO. I tried several times to do what you did and only succeeded using a bit of cheese. I also find the fourth crusade nearly always fails against the byzantines.
Yeah it’s quite difficult to pull off, I did a few attempts when roads to power first came out and failed miserably! You definitely need a strong ally (at least 15k) and to avoid attacking the byzantine army head on, especially in flat terrain. I could only win battles if defending in mountains or massively outnumbering them (like 3 to 1).
Ah yes the Bulgarians, the Turkic tribe that insists its Slavic
Analysing any modern nationality’s origins is always a complicated picture, especially on the Balkans.
@ yes but luckily we have extremely well documented sources of all these people thanks to the Byzantines so in this case it’s pretty straightforward
