No one taught Snowball how to dance. He just began dancing one day and has become more elaborate as time passes. Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue Service, Inc.
Totally love this! I showed it to my dad when visiting him at his care home - he has dementia -- he laughed and laughed, and sat there moving his legs in time to the cockatoo's! Thank you!!!
What's amazing is from 1:21 - 1:23 when Snowball actually pauses to listen to the change in tempo, then at 1:24 starts back up synched with it. If there were ever a question about intelligence, there's your answer right there.
As I was filming him for research, he sent a chill up my spine when I watched him pause in dancing, analyze the dance pattern we were doing, and then change it so we would look more symmetrical. To see the intelligence in his eyes gives me goose bumps. Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only
This bird's something special. Tons of birds dance, some birds have SOME sense of rhythm, but they always lose rhythm partway. This is the only bird I've ever seen that holds near perfect rhythm. When Snowball DOES lose rhythm, it's immediatly corrected. Snowball even switches up the dance moves at high and low parts of the song. Incredible. It's like watching a human in bird body dance.
@Tnem56 Snowball began dancing on his own...he isn't trained at all. He dances when he feels like it which is practically 100% of the time when people are watching him. He just loves to show off for the attention. Irena Schulz
We have set him in front of a mirror and he has watched himself, but nothing else out of the ordinary with regard to dance moves. He does 'invent' new dance moves over time. Scientists have labeled and documented 17 dance moves so far. Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only Rescue
@doeme53 Snowball created another new dance move a few weeks ago. He has combined his usual "head twirl" with lifting his wings for a very dramatic dance move. He loves the verbal praises when he dances, so I believe this explains why he continues to think up more dance moves and loves to dance in front of others. He thrives on the attention and praises. Many cockatoos love to dance...this seems to be something most cockatoos have in common (appreciation of music). Irena
Yes, he dances on his own. He will break into dance while we are watching tv and a commercial with a good tune comes on. He just loves music. Irena Schulz - Bird Lovers Only
This is fantastic! I love him! He seems to keep with the beat and really listens to the tones of the music. Why has he never been on Ellen!!!! She would love hm too!
snowball has greatly contributed to my love of birds. This bird is truly amazing. One of the miracles of life. he always manages to make my days brighter.
We've heard of "rock and roll hoochie coo," but Snowball is the first "rock and roll cockatoo." It's good to see he is so happy and healthy with you. I've seen that some birds do not take so well to being placed with different humans. I have a friend with a bare-eyed 'too, and they are wonderful birds.
You must have been absolutely thrilled when you learned Snowball had such talent! I know if it were me, I would be beside myself! Snowball is completely adorable! My youngest Welsh Corgi would go nuts watching Snowball! Thanks so much! Warmly, Red
What an absolutely beautiful bird! Snowball is amazing. I love his personality. He really is very, very special, a beautiful spirit. You are so lucky to have him. Thanks for the great videos.. they have given me and my husband many great moments on TH-cam! Thanks!
I saw the CBS Sunday Morning clip on this. Really amazing bird! I find the study fascinating. I think it's great how he changes how he's moving when the music changes the beat. :D
This one is my favorite. He totally dances along to the beat. He can really get down! I want a t-shirt with him on it. You should have a fan site where we can buy stuff of him and have the profits go towards your bird rescue. I think it's awesome what you are doing. Love it!
Did you know that we are studying Snowball in our neurobiology/neuropsychology classes in Bordeaux, France? He's a famous bird and a proof that non-human animals can synchronize to a musical beat! I only chanced on this video upon the recommendation of a professor!
If only Freddy Mercury knew that one day, a cockatoo would be dancing to his song 😂😂😂😂

Damn bird has better moves than I do. S/he does Freddie proud...
The moment you realise a bird has better dance moves than you
Omg it actually looking for the beat! Never realised these birds were so intelligent!
he's got hair like a rockstar :D and his headbanging is so cute! :D
Totally love this! I showed it to my dad when visiting him at his care home - he has dementia -- he laughed and laughed, and sat there moving his legs in time to the cockatoo's! Thank you!!!
Cockatoo dances to Queen, but more than that when he loses the beat he finds it again

Snowball could NOT be any more amazing and intelligent. It's a pleasure to watch him do his thing!

Freddie Mercury has been reincarnated as a cockatoo!!!!
Aaaaaaaw, my heart is melting now! :)
He teaches us, that it is ONE WORLD we live in.
And he does this in an unbeatable groovy manner.
Long live Snowball!
The way he headbangs is metal as fuck
This bird can rock, sooo cute and funny. I've never seen a bird get down like that and move his feet too. Awesome!
He seems to capture many female human hearts over in this country. He's such a ladies' man.

I think Snowball should have his own fan club by now! I watch this clip now and then for a laugh.
He should be on Dancing with the Stars.

I think it's just amazing how birds like cockatoos can actually keep up with the rhythm to a song. They're so smart, and so much fun :)

Go Snowball GO!! Amazing. Brought tears to my eyes. Now that's entertainment!
I like how when the lyrics are "Steve walks slowly down the street..." Snowball dances like he's walking exaggeratedly.
He has gotten better over time. He creates new dance routines as time passes.
