Growing up in the Deep South, I have to give props to Harold’s choice of corned beef. Corned beef hash cooked crispy in a skillet with a runny fried egg on top is serious blue-collar food where I grew up (and I still cook it regularly to this day). My family always has a can of corned beef in the pantry for a lazy weeknight.
Seeing Harold always puts a smile on my face. We have basically the same grocery list and it's always great seeing how universal the Filipino-American experience is in many ways. However, as a child I always preferred Spam to the corned beef and still do.
I appreciate seeing Jessie's list so much. It makes me feel like what I'm eating isn't weird. I've been made fun at a lot growing up eating asian food and this just makes me so happy and seen.
Save the best for last. Harold is my ultimate favorite person on BA. His bro chemistry with Brad is a match made in heaven. Please…. more segments with Brad and Harold
I mean. These are professional chefs. And obviously they are also bringing their cultural tastes and experiences to their grocery lists. Like honestly, why all the hate? Their lists seem really realistic for their profession and backgrounds. Did you really expect them to be like oh milk, cereal, peanut butter and jelly. Edit: I'm really glad if by the time you read this comment you can't see the negative comments I'm referring to, since that means the positive or at least constructive comments have drowned them out! So just know that when I wrote this comment, there was, or at least I felt, a disproportionate amount of unnecessarily negative and hateful comments. Cheers!

i have to say mate, comments like this warm my heart considering where BA was at a few years ago. Just cool that lots of different people can see their stories and traditions out there. Something that us white people never thought twice about for a very long time!
I ate almost an entire full tin of those cookies this past Christmas... 😭 But I was able to give the empty tin away to a neighbor in no time flat. For sewing supplies, of course. 😂
I do use it to make my own bbq type of sauce for my ribs or chops. I dice some shallots and cook them till translucent in a bit of butter then add guava paste and water to the pan until it melts and become thick. I finish it with come cracked black pepper and a bit of mustard. The paste in a solid form can also be used in your charcuterie board , just slice thin

DeVonn!!!! I never thought of cabbage that way WOW!!! You are so right!!! I keep on forgetting how awesome cabbage is!! Such on over looked veg!!! Thank you!!
7 pantry essentials, wow that is hard. Setting normal items like salt and pepper and olive oil and other obvious ones aside if I may... 1. Spicy Laoganma spicy crispy chili crisp sauce condiment. 2. A good quality soy sauce 3. Sesame oil 4. Sounds weird but 'nutritional yeast' 5. Gojuchang Korean paste 6. Japanese togarashi sprinkle seasoning 7. Oyster sauce. I could go on but those add flavour and zing to anything.
Tiana, thank you for introducing that milk! I developed lactose intolerance in my adulthood the closest I got to satisfaction was drinking a coconut milk that still didn't taste right. Just had it with cereal and it is so good.
I'm pretty sure oat milk is also WAY more sustainable than almond milk, too! But I agree. I've not usually been a fan of milk alternatives (to be fair, I have zero lactose issues...but I like to try anyway because of environmental issues with cows milk).
