I remember listening to this when it was first broadcast. I always thought that the scary sound effects were much better at representing the vicious plants, in a world where most people are blind, than any visual depiction. The Triffids were a source of vegetable oil, similar to fish oil. I have recently retired from a career in the vegetable oil industry. Varieties of soybean and rapeseed have been developed that produce an oil that include important properties of fish oil not normally found in vegetable oil. Fortunately these plants are harmless.
How is it possible that a one man ( or woman ? ) outfit such as Mystical Magpie can offer such a wide array of radio drama - of the highest quality ! - and yet BBC Sounds with its enormous licence later funded budget is unable to do the same...?!? Mystical Magpie should be publicly funded and he / she be knighted for Services to Cultural Life !!
Very kind of you, but although creating a YT channel certainly involves time and effort, needless to say there's a limit on how much credit I can take for platforming other people's work. As I understand it, even repeats have to be licenced and/or paid for on BBC Sounds and Radio 4 Extra, so there are limits to how much they can make available at any one time. TH-cam does allow channels like this one to share collections of radio plays without those formal entanglements - but of course they can be subject to takedown requests, too. As I understand it, channels like this one don't necessarily last for very long for that reason and must be enjoyed while they last, sad to say. Anyway - I'm glad you're continuing to enjoy the plays I'm sharing on both channels...
thanks for the upload , epic classic story

Funnily enough, I loved the 1980s TV adaptation but my abiding memory of it is the clattering sound of the Triffids themselves...
And now they say seed oils are " poisoning " us .
