    Would love to see a series on the proper way of Weddings from an Islamic perspective - there's so much cultural influences and biddah that it's impossible to know what a pure wedding is suppose to be like. And worst of all, it is the elders that insistent upon these practices

    • @AR-kz4zg
      @AR-kz4zg ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@firdauss3756 I think the reason I made that comment was for the Yaqeen team to take note and make a series and do a deeper dive as they have on so many other topics - everyone already knows the basics. This overly reductionist approach has caused us to go astray in the first place. Knowing the exact rituals and sunnahs will have a greater significance, otherwise, like this khutbah states, it will all become meaningless, with no one remembering why we do what we do - as our weddings currently reflect

      Seconded. I would love to see Yaqeen do a series on that. @DrOmarSuleiman, please do a series on the Sunnah of Pre-Marriage.

      There is no 'pure' wedding, as Islam allows us to be human and follow cultural practices and dresses as long as they do not clash with Islamic mores.

    Thank you Dr. Omar Suleiman for this beautiful khutbah. It is hard to imagine life without Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). But the irony of the situation is that, not many people have access to Serah, nor is it spoken about by many scholars. It takes a lot of personal effort to know Prophet Muhammad pbuh, and apply his teachings. You are really doing a great job with your efforts at Yakeen Institute. May Allah bless you and your team. Jazakallahu khairan.

      @@ninaadams4713 As many have mentioned 'Jahiliya' means ignorance in Arabic. 'Abu' means father in Arabic. The Arabs had(still have) a tradition of calling people by 'father of' or 'Mother of' or 'son of' or 'Daughter of' (similar to the West where people often take their father's surname). Eg: Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (Muhammad SAW, son of Abdullah), Isa ibnu Maryam (Jesus AS, son of Mary), Fatimah bint Muhammad (Fatima, daughter of Muhammad SAW), Aisha umm Al Mumineen (Aisha RA, mother of Believers), etc. Abu Jahal was sort of a leader of people who opposed Islam at that time. Hence the title - 'Abu Jahal', father of Ignorance.
