I was going to mention that.....in the 80s thats what people used in their mohawks to keep it up and in place. I heard it was a pain to wash out though....
@@emily.toombs That's sounds right only egg yolks..Then just add organic oil essence like jasmine or a nice fragrance..Never see Mohawk's anymore anywhere.
The protein in egg white basically functions as a glue. Before oil paint, painters used egg tempera paint, where instead of oil, egg was used as the binding medium. Painting is nothing else than gluing (or bonding) pigments to a canvas or panel, with oil being a very slow drying type of glue (which makes oil paint so popular), and egg being a faster drying agent. Many traditional glues were made of protein. There are gelatine ones from animal skin or bone marrow (I think) and milk can be used to treat cracks in porcelain. Anyway that explains why it had such amazing hold 😊 Hope the people on here appreciate this bit of background 😊
Actually, only the yolk diluted with water is used in Tempera paint. No animal products are used in iconography, as you suggest. Nothing slaughtered is allowed in the church. Only hard-boiled eggs at Easter.
@@Mary-Ann_B_Mabaet you're in the same boat as me then! I went to school w a guy that used bar soap, lathered up to spike or Mohawk his hair, and it was pretty long (6-8"). It stayed up, but I can't imagine it was good for his hair.

@Miss_Kisa94 its probably not actually cooked, but egg does change opacity when you try to agitate it with water. I’ve did egg and mayo protein treatments before. I don’t think it was any better than the standard protein treatment from the store but it definitely looks like a great gel!
I feel like this is ground breaking because that’s probably good for your hair too, like a keratin treatment. It reminds me of when people use flax as a hair gel! I’d love to see if it also works on curly/textured hair! Also she’s so gorgeous WOW
If you whip the egg whites, it has a consistency more like mousse; it makes it easier to apply, and the coverage is more even. Another easy way to apply it is in an empty condiment squeeze bottle (you just shake it really vigorously after separating the yolk). This method was really good for mohawks. And the egg will be good for your hair too, win win!
If your hair is stretching, absolutely. If it's dry and frizzy or healthy it doesn't need it and it'll end up brittle, dry and dull.

I'm not sure about that. Egg goes bad fast and is going to turn your hairdo into a microbiological hazard.
