Reading these comments and seeing this video leaves me baffled. As a black male growing up in the inner city, I always wondered what kind of ass backwards thinking makes people want to embrace a life of poverty and represent it proudly. I'm not getting preachy and i know that we aren't afforded the same opportunities as everyone else, but to proudly embrace a lifestyle that makes you the lowest of society and live up to the negative views they already have about us.... just baffles me!
I didn't say the entire race...But now that you bring it up...I will say the majority of "inner city" blacks...I'd be happy to share some CCTV footage from my alley where I work to corroborate my statement. I see young blacks congregating to fight, play the knockout "game", smoke crack, etc...Breaking into a school for the "under privileged" by the same blacks the school was hoping to lift up out of poverty, etc...All of this was archived for the police at their request and they're not isolated incidents and occur more often than they should. I'm not into "profiling" or "generalizations" but I cannot deny what my own eyes see...To do so would be willfully ignorant. I stand by my initial statement...And now I will expound on it...."When taken as a whole...The black race that is, you Rick Philly, unfortunately, are the exception, not the rule!" Nothing racist about it...It just is what it is. I have been stopped by a black cop for what he perceived was public urination in my alley on a Sunday morning while I was trying to gain entry to my place of employment. The cop was kind of a dick, but I didn't cop an attitude until he insisted he saw me do something I didn't do. Which would have been easily corroborated by my CCTV cameras. I could have cried racist, but I didn't...It was just a dick cop, being a dick cop.
Before this Homewood used to be a real nice place to live, all the old run down buildings was family homes with wonderful people. I miss the old beautiful place I used to live and grew in. HOMEWOOD FOREVER ❤️💯
Homewood is a community that's brimming with positivity, where fathers diligently support their families through legitimate employment or by operating lawful businesses. The footage fails to capture the essence of Homewood, which is home to property owners (including myself), church attendees, and community activists who are ceaselessly striving to enhance the quality of life in Homewood. The video presents a skewed perspective, failing to accurately depict the diverse Homewood community. My insights are based on firsthand experience, as I am a resident of this community. Wishing you grace and peace!
Met my best friend while I lived in Homewood and another best friend who lived there. Went to Belmar and Homewood Montessori. Homewood on the come up, folks getting out of prison and turning their lives around, investing in the community.
People always talk about dying for a hood that dont love you. Instead of mentoring these young men and children u encourage them to do wrong. You are no different than the kkk. In fact you work for them for free
I am not to sure what this is but I use to live in the hood back in the day with the real og crips and even thou they did there wrong because they had no exit to turn to they also did alot of good in like these youngsters who try an fake to be like them. the real og crips helped families feed there kids and always tried their best to make sure we new never to go down the same path as them so I thank you for being the og crips you where cause you help guide me to be the best woman I am.
I know where every spot in this video is at, I've never had a problem with gang members, even when I lost my car key in club A E downtown and spent the night walking all over the burgh, only real issues I had was being harassed by the cops for being white in known drug hoods, which is a fucked up scenario if you ask me, figure it'd be the other way around. I actually feel safer in the hood than I do in my own white hoods
These videos are pretty old, Homewood definitely still has crips though. A lot of good rappers from there too, not surprised the cops harassed you though it's been like that for a long time
I’m from homewood myself but spent myself on different sides of the east side. Pittsburgh is a city where you are cool if you aren’t in problems. If you a civilian, like you said are, then might get asked where you from. The worst is probably robbed but other than that the city is so small that the beef is lowkey
Bro this a desolated city that's why ,and everyone is already dead or away. Club A E is hella far from Homewood bro , u walked round the " Hill District " .
I grew up in east Pittsburg pa it was really hard growing up knowin crips ruled pretty much the whole east and west side I was trying hard not to get caught up in a gang but in junior high crips started recruiting people from the school
Oh Yeah yeah army East Pittsburgh ain’t have Crips till 2000’s when ppl moved there from the city/15104. Braddocc, North Braddock & Rankin was segregated back in the day
They keep it trill in Homewood if you going thru just have respect killas move in silence and once its sunset you might wanna go elsewhere cuz if you got no biddness in Homewood after dark they will tell you..r.w.g lil brucey
I was bad as a kid in nyc so my moms sent me to Pittsburgh. I ended up in Homewood crippin like a muthafucka. I hung in C City hilltop pjs N wheeler st and Cora st !! Y’all some real niggas
I'm from the neighborhood. Grew up in LA California. Was around the westside crips Marvin Gangsters, Playboy Gangsters, School Yard Crips. Went to Louis Pasteur Jr. high in 1981with a lot of those dudes. It was part of the culture. I was 10 years old when I knew about my first murder around 1978 that happened at LA High it was a dude named Rodney that we called MAD ROD. They say the SYC's killed him, beat him to death. He was a MARVIN. In 81 moved to the Jungle with the BLOODS BPS Black P Stones. Basically even after all that I would say 90 percent of us were just youngsters from the neighbor hood who were into dressing, music, dancing, going to the mall, the movies and talking to girls and sometimes fighting. HOW DID THINGS CHANGE TO WHAT MOST OF YOU THINK WE ARE TODAY? And by the way I always had affiliations with youngsters from the gang, whether Crips or Bloods. First you see when 85 and 86 rolled around major weed hit the streets (Weed from northern Cali, Endica, Humbolt Skunk, Red Head Sess ect.) so most cool cats started smoking even though we didn't even think about it before that (we had the most cracking nickel spot in the world on Gibraltar Ave). Then CRACK hit the streets. I can tell you at my High School (DORSEY HIGH) you hardly ever saw anyone gangbanging. And you already know they existed, but it WASNT a major part of the culture. Just something sitting there unfortunately waiting to be developed. CRACK turned the neighborhood on ITS HEAD. Now we have to hear this SHIT about how black people are... We were school boys trying to have fun and then go to college or get a good job. When they dropped that SHIT on us day turned to night. We didn't understand but somebody did. If you want me to say more just ask. The abuse and destruction of our people is a reality. We WERE and ARE plotted on. Simple as that. Everybody on my block came from a good home with a father and mother or just a mother but everybody worked and wanted good for their children. And I already told you where I'm from.
So were there blatant changes you could see in your neighborhood after crack hit the scene, or was it more beneath-the-surface type of effect? And did crack effect the neighborhood quickly, or did it gradually fuck things up?
bigmedge bigmedge yes there were blatant and immediate changes like an invading cultural army. New character goals, and economy started to set in place. This is what gave rise to the latent gang, criminal mentality. It needed an additional psycho-political ingredient and crack with all its degrading effects was that vehicle.
I literally live less than 10 minutes away from here. In a really nice neighborhood on a cul de sac. Sad that the people there embrace this dead end lifestyle.
im so glad my mom got me and my brother out of the hood here in detroit i swear if you can allow good things to come in your life it dont make you no bitch it makes you wanna destroy hoods like this so we can get these baby's real educations and nicer places to live.

That's not cool. It's just dangerous. Just the opposite from the rest of society. Somewhere along the line they got their priorities turned around.
Baffled is an understatement! How utterly deplorable and depressing& trifling. Could say more but whats the point... I think instead ill just PRAY!
Unfortunately, you are the exception, not the rule.
Dick Fitzwell you aren't qualified when you consider certain people the exception based on your perception of an entire race
