I've struggled with my weight and bad eating habits my entire life. Whenever I'm struggling, I just watch your videos to get inspired towards healthy eating! Thanks for helping keep me in check :)
Krystal Smith she's been missing on instagram too. I know she doesn't owe us anything and probably has her own life, but I really do miss her videos. I hope she updates us soon. :(
So funny you just posted this! For the last month or so I've been eating miso 1-2 times a day! It's so easy and DELICIOUS! I usually make it with just water, miso, fresh garlic, tamari sauce, and green onion from my mini garden :) And since doing so I've managed to stay healthy during a huge flu outbreak (and I work at a yoga studio--germ city!) and my digestive system has been awesome.
As always a great video, Sarah! Bought miso for a few months ago. So far my fav recipe is: Stir garlic, tofu and brown mushrooms (love those) on a hot pan with coconut oil for a few minuts, Add coconut milk, coriander, lemon/lime After cooking for a few more minutes take it off head and let it cool a bit down - then stir in miso and some ready edamame pasta/quinoa/other.. Love it!! (Due to PCO I try to not eat too much soy - but i make this once in a while without aaaany guilt!)
I really love how much you know about what you are talking about- you clearly do your research and it is just satisfying watching videos that are educational and helpful! Thank you!
Hi Sarah!! This video made my day!!! I'm half Korean, and my grandmother lives very near to me and she makes soybean paste at home all the time! Miso has been a daily part of my eversince I can remember, so I never really thought bout how healthy it is to my body. I'm sooo happy I came across this video!! Thank you soooo much!!! Your videos are life goals!!!!
Just an idea for a video: a video about what made you decide to live a holistic life. This would be a cool video because everyone living a holistic life has a story about why they do what they do; it just fascinates me to listen to other people's stories. :)
I remember her saying in one of her videos that she had high levels of mercury and something else in her body so she decided to live a more natural and holistic! I'm glad she did cause she has inspired me so much! :)
I love miso so much!! Have you tried out tamaji yet? It's a Japanese potato full of hyaluronic acid that greatly improves the Japanese people's health in this one village. Their skin is pretty much flawless, they rarely have diseases, and living into their 90s is very common for them. Could you maybe do a recipe video on tamaji?
Hello Sarah, I really enjoyed watching your video on Miso. I'm fortunate enough to have a really good authe tic Asian supermarket not to far from me that carries really hard to find items from all over Southeast Asia. They have authentic products from Japan, etc. When I make my Miso I start out boiling my water and tben add Bonito flake from Japan to flavor my water (traditional Miso). I don't know if you're a vegetarian but this is how I make mine. After I let the Bonito give off it's flavor I strain the water. I also add baby seaweed and organic tofu diced up. Then I usually add White Miso. I saw you saying that you make a paste before adding your Miso. The way to incorporate your Miso into your broth is to get a strainer and put the strainer into your pan of water. Then you just use a spoon or a whisk and place the Miso inside the strainer in the water and go in circles to incorporate it into the water. The strainer gets it into the water very efficiently and also allows you to get the lumps taken care of. This is the way that the Japanese make it and if you watch some of their video's on here you'll see what I'm talking about.
You are such a inspiration! Ive been a vegan for three years, and I can't believe that I just came across your videos! awesome recipes and your personality shines! Love your channel!
im half japanese and basically raised on miso and one of my favorite things ever is to get a tiny little bit of the paste by itself raw ( like maybe a small spoonful) and then cut up some fresh cucumbers and dip them in the miso paste. not a whole lot because it can be a little salty but a tiny little! ugh thats like the best thing ever!!
I am grateful for your insight because I had no idea about the soy. I researched it as soon as I heard you say something about it. All I can say is,' No wonder my skin has been breaking out massively'. I have been drinking soy in my coffee every day now for a few weeks and my skin has been acting weird. My body did not feel right and I could not figure it out. All I could do was keep asking in my thoughts is,' What is doing this to me'? Just amazing how we help each other unknowing of exactly how and who it will be. Bunch of thanks and I cannot wait for it to clear up and feel better again. Especially with Spring almost here. I am going to detox now and get rid of the soy creamer and tofu in my fridge. Of course I will reuse the containers after cleaning them. reduce, REUSE, then recycle. Keep it green lady helper.
Miso and Natto are the bomb. I also try to put them on my dishes every day. Even when making rice or quinoa, instead of using regular water, I use miso soup to cook the rice with. Yum!
Amazing! For years I have wanted to know if miso was fish, because I'm allergic and can't have, and no one could tell me! Now I know I can try miso soup! Yay!!!
I'm new to your channel, totally stumbled across by accident and I am SO glad I did! This was a wonderful video about something I've been curious about for ages. You have an excellent speaking voice and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for being awesome!

It was such a pleasure running into you yesterday! You are such a beautiful soul. I meant to tell you so many more things but my excitement got the best of me :D Like, I made this soup last week and it was awesome! I also bought the ingredients for the turmeric/ginger drink and I can't wait to make it this week. Thanks so much for being so gracious and subbing to my channel, it really meant a lot to me! xo
Miso is a miracle food. You should consider fermenting a batch of your own. In 18 months you would have such an abundant amount and you will really save money! :) Yet another wonderful video!

Thank you so much for making this video. I've had miso sitting in my fridge for a little while but really didn't know how to do anything else with it than make soup.
Wow so many great recipes I never thought of thank you and so many different miso pastes. I'm a miso fan myself but I stuck to the traditional miso with tofu and seaweed. Now I have so many more options! Thank you!
Thank you for this wonderful video! You have such a positive personality and you really know your stuff. I can’t wait to try the Sea Clear miso as well as the recipes in your video. Have a great day!

I workout, do yoga, and plenty other things that benefit me because I want to put only healthy things in my body and do only good to my body! I've been meaning to try miso but I want to know which kind of miso you would prefer as taste wise, or what they all taste like in general! and if you have any other healthy foods and recipes I would sooo love for you to make a video on them! you and your videos always keep me in check and help push myself to a better lifestyle and diet! thanks! ☺️
I have actually never tried miso at home but I have wanted to.This video was very helpful and informative. The recipes look simple and delicious. There are no health food stores where I live so finding miso may be the hard part.
What a useful video! I love miso, too, and it's been becoming more and more mainstream lately, so it's a perfect timing. I use mine for soups. Love the extra dimension (or umami) that it gives to any soup. xx
oh oh oh you are sooo absolutely gorgeous girl.. I RARELY watch any other youtubers but I found myself going down a rabbit whole watching all of yours :P You're stunning..
Awesome!! I just got into making miso soup about once a week. I love it. I purchased my miso at our local Korean store. I'll have to check out the health food store to get the organic stuff. :)
So excited to see miso getting some well deserved love and attention 😊 I love watching your videos because I always learn something new; I had no idea about soy-free miso options! Already hunting down products to try!
awesome video!!!! SOOOO HELPFUL! I used to work at a sushi restaurant and would also have a bowl of miso in between shifts. I never knew it was healthy for me!
I'm watching your videos for quite a while now and I just wanted to let you know that I love them. I love everything about them. Your hair tutorial ones or the lookbooks. They are all fascinating. And you've got an amazing aura. I don't know, but I just feel comfortable when I watch your videos. PS: I freakin love your hair!!
Wow! Great video! I have loved and been making miso soup- just classic way- for many years now. I love it for breakfast and sometimes just have the broth. I had no idea you could do so many things with it though!! Thanks for the ideas!
So happy you are back making videos! So happy - in fact - I am rewatching all your videos! Just moved into my own place and now have my own kitchen to cook in! Just one question from this video: does miso need to be refrigerated? I wanted to order online but I don't want to if its not going to end up being spoiled when it gets here!
This was the best video of miso I've found. I wish I watched yours first!! I'm serious so freaking awesome. Thank you for the share. I'm changing my WHOLE SELF and this comes right on time for me. Your a God 😇 sent
Wow thank you. I've had miso paste before but you've open my eyes to other possibilities. I esp love the salad dressing part. I want to run to my Asian grocery store now :)
Hi Sarah! I just quit drinking Alkohol, but I'm 17 and sometimes it's hard not to drink, exspecially because I don't really have reasons to tell my friends why not to. So, the question I got is - did you ever got drunk? Are you drinking yet? And when not, why? I would need some motivation to ignore the whole drama about alkohol. Should I stop go on partys? And what about days like new years eve or christmas? Are there alternatives I can drink? Love and Greets from Germany, Beria
This video was awesome ! I can't wait to see the desserts video ! I too am very passionate about japanese culture, especially cooking, as you probably already know from my channel lol. Japanese cuisine has such healing and healthy properties and it's absolutely fantastic to dig in and discover why they eat what they eat ! And since I'm part chinese I also do the same thing for chinese cuisine, I'm currently thinking about incorporating videos about traditional remedies to my channel because I always use food to heal myself and improve my health, but somehow I ended not sharing the information ! For the recipes, they were great ! I love miso soup, but each time I make it my boyfriend says it smells like fish in my apartment for days... lol... But maybe I could do like you and just omit the dashi ! Btw I have a little trick to mix the miso paste faster in the water, you can use a sieve ! simply put the miso in the sieve and the water in the bowl, and mix it up like you normally would. It's so much quicker ! Your other recipes all look delicious too, they are quite tempting even though I don't eat many salads or raw veggies and I can't find kale easily in my city, but it's a good idea to add veggies to the soup ! :) I always drink my soup with wakame seaweed, I have read about adding vegetables to it but I never think of it on the moment lol. Also, this chickpea miso looks awesome !! I was wondering, does it taste like chickpea ? Because I LOVE chickpea ! If I could find a miso paste that tasted like it it would be heaven for me ! :) Big hugs !!!!!!
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL !!! Thank you for sharing so many healing, life - affirming things that I have gratefully incorporated into my daily life. You are Beautiful, Generous, and Amazing !!!
holistichabits TH-cam keeps saying you have a new video up periodically I click on your channel, no new video and the 1 beside your channel showing a new video is gone. Does this come up with you leave a comment or something other than putting up a video?
+MEGAN HOFFMAN I think miso paste contains salt in addition to soybeans and rice - I think the amount of salt varies depending on the brand an type of miso paste though.
Love your energy, you seem like such a positive person and I am so grateful to come across your channel , I'm only 14 and I love crystal healing, smoke cleansing, meditation and all those ways of living! I feel like you connect with all the same things I do, and I can really relate so thank you ❤️ please so some kind of video on smoke cleansing:) (smudging)
Ah thank you so much for this video, Sarah! I love miso soup, but I don't like buying the pre-made soups at the grocery because of the weird additives, and it just doesn't taste as good as fresh-made soup! I've wanted to start making my own, but I had no idea where to start or what kind of miso to buy! This video was so helpful! :)
Hello! i love your videos, the way there are made, the content, whether it's the beauty ones or the food ones, and how passionately you talk about it! I was wondering if you can give us an example of what you would eat on a given day, from breakfast to dinner, I struggle to manage a balanced diet with the quantity of protein and other nutrients you need on a daily basis. Big hugs from France!
I just found your channel and I am loving your videos!! So informative I feel like I should be taking notes lol! I can't wait for you to most more and update your channel :)
Love all of these ideas! I've always been wary of miso because I don't eat soy but the chickpea and green miso sound and look perfect! Can't wait to try. Let's hope I can find these brands in Singapore.
This is a great video! I never thought about all the ways miso can be used for! Thanks a lot for sharing! For how long is miso good if it's on the fridge? I have some there but I don't know if it's still good!
Hi Sarah! Thank you for such an informative video! I have never tried miso or any fermented foods for that matter. I have been on the plant based lifestyle for 5years now but there is still so much learning happening. I always turn to your videos for answers and inspiration. You are extremely well spoken. I was wondering where you bought all of the miso mentioned? I am from Waterloo, ON, Canada and not sure where to purchase these. P.S. ilysm
Thank you for this video. I love miso so much. I've been trying to go organic/ vegan, and I'm really curious about your grocery list. Do you think you could show us what you usually buy and talk about how to successfully transition to a vegan lifestyle?

As always a great video, Sarah! Bought miso for a few months ago. So far my fav recipe is:

Add coconut milk, coriander, lemon/lime
After cooking for a few more minutes take it off head and let it cool a bit down - then stir in miso and some ready edamame pasta/quinoa/other..

I agree!
I second that agreement!
Hello Sarah,
I really enjoyed watching your video on Miso. You are such a inspiration! Ive been a vegan for three years, and I can't believe that I just came across your videos! awesome recipes and your personality shines! Love your channel!
I love miso! I usually just make a soup out of light or dark miso, green onions, and sometimes seaweed. I really want to try that sea clear kind. 💜🍲
The sea clear is truly amazing!!
im half japanese and basically raised on miso and one of my favorite things ever is to get a tiny little bit of the paste by itself raw ( like maybe a small spoonful) and then cut up some fresh cucumbers and dip them in the miso paste. not a whole lot because it can be a little salty but a tiny little! ugh thats like the best thing ever!!
GIRL WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK, I MISS YOUR VIDEOS! :)
Considering my name is Miso, this was pretty funny to watch.

I always though miso soup was full of salt!! This excites me so much now!!
+MEGAN HOFFMAN I think miso paste contains salt in addition to soybeans and rice - I think the amount of salt varies depending on the brand an type of miso paste though.
