Awesome content and production value Dr H as always. Used Novalager to make a malt extract lager brew in my Pinter (a UK pressure brewing system) brew done in 3 days at around 18C. Tasted lovely.
Just used nova lager for the first time in a citra nova lager, recorded the tasting part of the video tonight and I was super impressed. One week under pressure 4 days cold crashing and it was done amazing. I’m definitely the same make it up as I go along and it normally turns out great. Another great vid cheers 👍🍻
I have used Novalager 5-6 times now. It has become my go to yeast in lagers as I like the taste it produces.. Fermented under pressure, 0.9 bar at 17 degrees.
The Nova lager was developed to eradicate the production of the sulphurous nasties associated with standard lager yeasts. I won’t get technical but there is a manufactures TH-cam video ( David Heath’s channel?).
Novalager is great. I've used it for Märzen, Pilsner and Aussie lager. I have a starter going for another Aussie lager on the weekend. I ferment at 15C, d-rest it at 20 and then do the usuall gradual drop down to CC temps. The beers are great. It is a great yeast. What I want to know is what this shake and brew stuff is about. I have never seen this. I prefer all grain brewing and haven't used a can of goo for a long time but I am curious about the pre-hopped dry malt pouches.
I brewed 9 batches with NovaLager already and I do like it. Do get different results when it comes to clarity of the finished beer but who cares right? They have been very drinkable so far. Watching from Austria, cheers
Have used NovaLager several times, usually ferment around 62-64F. Don’t have a fermentation chamber so use a tub of water and add frozen water bottles to maintain this temp. Very entertaining video- Indianapolis, IN-USA
I've done half a dozen all grain lagers with Nova lager in the last year, all 23l batches all using two packs of Nova lager under pressure. All fermented in the mid to low temperature range, usually starting with zero pressure gradually ramping up. None of my brews have fermented out as low as yours due to mashing temperatures. I will try fermenting at the top of the temperature range with higher pressure from the start to see the difference. I must try with dme at some point in the future!🍻
I do like the NovaLager, minimal sulfur or off flavours with really quick fermentations, but like some said in the comments, it's really slow to clear up (and really expensive). Great epic content! Cheers!
You find it expensive? Around here it runs about $7 Canadian a package. Same price as most Mangrove Jack yeast, actually about $4 less and Saflager W34/70
@@viper29ca It's great by the pack, but usually the 500g bricks are cheaper but in this case, not so much which is the case with all Lallemand yeast I think.
I've done a few batches with nova lager, maybe 4 or so.. I don't mind it so much, it makes a decent lager. But it's never what I'm looking for. 34/70 is still my favorite, even at room temperature under pressure. I had high hopes for nova lager but it's just not what I like.
Seemed to have the same characteristics of dry Lutra for me. Has a flavor note that I can’t explain. But it wasn’t 100% clean. Same note that I get from Lutra when I try a pseudo lager with that yeast. Makes a good beer. But not exactly a lager profile IMO.
I really wanted to write a nasty comment, but the AI rock doctor was too good! I have been using Nova Lager in my Helles and Leightbeir, I like the taste but find it slow to clear up.

@@PartyTimeBrewing most dry yeast is around the same price here. $6-$10 depending on type. Lallemand, not really more or less than anyone else
Interesting there Johnny 😁. I’m sitting here with Cold Ipa fermented with Nova Lager. So i really liked that yeast. Cheers my friend.
Cool, cheers buddy!
Excellent, just bought it and brew tomorow
Cool, good luck with the brew
Thank you for the video. Where did you buy the floating dip tub you used? How do you wash a keg?
Epic content was the best haha !! just subbed good vid
Thank you!
NovaLager is great. Had results with it. Great Video.
Cool, thanks for sharing!
Medalj till dig broder! 😂 ska fixa patron när jag lärt mig! Har ryssnojja! ❤
We brew Ales, but would love to brew a lager. If I could ferment warmer to speed up the process. I need to turn my fermenters over faster.
Then you found the right channel

Where do you pour all the excess beer?

Usually I get head retention issues with nova lager, did you see any of that?
Nope, not a all.
SHAKE IT LIKE THE DOCTOR!
🕺
whats the point of brewing with DME? At that point you can just get beer from the shop
@@justthebrttrkmust be really getting fucked on beer prices then, cuz here it's 1 euro a can.
As @justthebrttrk said, because it´s fun and an easy way to do experiments, trying new stuff out etc
