Agree. The defense thinks that the Jury needs a class on tauma and how it can adversely affect memory which is true but it's not cut and dry as this expert claims. What we need to have is a mental evaluation done on Nancy so we can prove what we all suspect is that Nancy is a narcissistic sociopath but the ? that remains is WHY? what makes someone want to murder their significant other who was by all accounts a good mate for her? It doesn't make sense as imo Dan was worth more alive to her than the $ should could make from his death. Possibly because Dan had to work 2 jobs to pay their bill$ and couldn't be as attentive to Nancy as she was accustomed from him when he was home, he was too tired so he became less 'useful' to her needs and wants

Ya know, I think if I were a clinical psychologist testifying as an expert witness, I wouldn't go for the pleated blouse from the 1950's. It looks way too "thrift store" or "I'm trying to look professsional so I borrowed my grandmother's outfit." Her article citations were just as remote in time (like before most of the jury was born).
If you want to talk "fight or flight", you'd better be current and you'd better be VERY grounded in current research. It's a VERY rapidly evolving field.
Oregon is replete with clinical psychologists. The jury will expect someone who's current. They can conclude from this that defense couldn't get an expert who could defend Nancy.

Don't Judge the entire state of residents and workers based on your opinion of one psychologist's expert opinion of Nancy's memory gabs due to her traumatic experience of her husband's murder and her confabulations to fill in the gaps. Any good psychologist who is not a paid court whore, would be able to determine if the patient is confabulating due to a traumatic event such as when a loved one is murdered from a liar who is in fact the person who killed her husband for monetary gain$ as the bill$ were piling up and she couldn't get Dan to get a higher paying job as head chef of a 4 to 5 star restaurant and Dan's 2nd job and his job at the Culinary Institute wasn't bringing in enough $ so when she was offered a job selling life insurance, that was her trip into the dark side of humanity and she took out life insurance policies on Dan totally almost 1.5 million dollar$. The state's expert witness that gave us a lesson on the many different policies she took out on Dan's life which i found very interesting as he's a good salesman! lol. For him to say that this amount of life insurance on a 64 yr old male who only made $50k + 20K for his 2nd job was way too much $ to pay for life insurance premiums imo and i think most folks would agree that they wouldn't take the sale$man's advice to pay the premiums at the sake of getting behind on your mortgage$. I lost all respect for him when he made that sales pitch to the Jury lol.

Hey Defense !! Can you make us Defense witnesses ? My husband & I drove down that rode a couple of times. Doesn't that make us more than qualified to be flown to Portland, and testify..."Yes I drove that street" and "I don't remember exactly the date or time"....Seems your calling everybody else in Portland....we just want a piece if that pie...lol..In my opinion

The prosecutor has had a strategy of letting the defense witnesses shoot off their mouths with word salad until they shoot themselves in the foot. He's done this with every member of Nancy's family, and now with the psychologist. They just can't help themselves. It might not be standard procedure, but I think it's brilliant.

I disagree. This expert shows how trauma can and does affect memory as if you recall, Nancy took the stand and had different stories of what she did on that fateful morning when she murdered her husband of 26 years that she claims was due to the trauma of her husband being murdered which affected her 'recall' aka memory. Gaps in memory are filled in by the human brain caused from trauma and we call it 'Confabulation' which is a memory error that involves creating false memories or distorting memories about oneself or the world. People who confabulate are unaware that their information is false and sincerely believe it to be true. This is different from lying, where the person is aware that they are lying.
Confabulation is often associated with: Brain damage, Certain types of dementia, Memory disorders, and Mental health conditions.
Confabulation can be triggered when someone is asked about their injury or disability. The false memories can extend to the present and its expected consequences. They can often contain symbolic themes related to the person's identity and social connections.
An example of confabulation is if someone is asked where they've been to and they respond with a story about a trip to Antarctica, even though they've never been there. It's not uncommon for folks with dementia to confabulate and the astute noticed this when Joe Biden talked about his past.

Years ago I was involved in fact finding where the original MMPI was in play. That test was not validated for the subject (my complainant). Evidently the testing company continues to update its product. That said, I think the jury should see the report generated by the test publisher as it does make comments about the subject’s behavior that are interesting… such as she avoids accountability.
Other than that she said that there are no indications of abuse by Dan. No news there.

Dan sounds like such a great and kind man. Both of them seemed conscious of each other's needs and allowed each other to grow and flex these needs. I would like to know what the real reason is that Nancy wanted to kill him. We're just presuming it's financial but there must be more to it. Was it the constant mess (that would freak me out tbh I'd be clearing and chucking stuff when he wasn't looking). I wonder if their marriage wasn't so great behind closed doors
