    I thought I was doing something wrong so came here looking for help. It's taking me over an hour to dig the holes with the auger even after adding water. South Carolina soil stinks.

      I think you gotta soak the spot days before or have a skid steer with auger with downward pressure. I’ve had to stand on auger behind a tractor on a 3 point hitch for it to dig at all in our gulf coast Texas clay.

    Them’s locust trees with them thorns on em boys. Diggin holes in that hard clay is what makes men out of boys. You just have to want to hard enough. Keep at it and don’t ever let anything beat you and you will be better for it in the end. I dug many a whole with a rock bar and a post hole digger. You can do it.

    these kind of soil is giving me trouble when I use my trenching machine. they're too sticky. clogging up the digging chain.

    Live in western WA, had almost the exact same issue when building a fence. Ended up using a rotohammer with a long/thick bit to loosen up everything before using the auger.

    @flowerpower3618 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’m going to rent a post hole digger to loosen my soil. (The rototiller won’t break through it’s so hard. ) then I’m pouring compost and manure down there and pray for rain.

    I just read a comment on another video that gave me what seems like a no brainier idea that slipped my mind when i was having this issue..... Use a 2 inch bit first to act as a pilot hole then step it up to the next size and so on.

    • @trentenfly2331
      @trentenfly2331 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Did you have success with this idea ?

    • @willhall7777
      @willhall7777 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@trentenfly2331 honestly it was an idea I got from another person's comment and I haven't gotten to try it yet. When drilling into metal a pilot hole makes that easier so I'd imagine this would work kinda in the same way. I was going to try it but couldn't find a 2 inch bit locally. I will be doing this in the future though.

    Just got done using an auger today in North Georgia, it was hell to even get down to 12 inches. Funny thing is when we did the water line with a trencher it cut right through. Maybe you fence guys should rent a trencher????

    I did modify my auger bit with better results on hard clay. Did solder a few teeth on either side made out of an old file. But still tuff to drill.

    Had the same horrible experience the landscape designer never mentioned it was all cement clay under the green. Harbor freight augers and bits didn't do a thing to this soil ,wasted day.
    Wrong blades for dealing with cement clay the physics must be different than that for digging on soft soil or semi sandy soils

      You say that, as you comment on a video of them doing manual labor. Just because you’re using and told us a Main, it’s not manual labor those things aren’t extremely easy to operate or carry around. Gets tiring quickly. And you’re so quick to judge them like what the fuck are you doing dude? you’re watching videos on TH-cam at least they were actually being productive.

      Yeah, this dude doesn't know shit about clearing through cement clay. Otherwise, he would have said a solution. It's been over a year, and he still hasn't said shit about solving this problem. He only calls these kids losers to make himself forget he has a small weiner.

      Earl, the Father's Name has meaning, it means "Self Existing One" and the letter " j " was the LAST letter added to the alphabet so that is CLEARLY not Father's name, jc is not the Son either... Lord means baal as well. Please study commands 3 and 4 to be approved, this is crucial. Please don't trust the Gregorian calendar for the ORDER of the TRUE weeks (the calendar before Gregorian day one was MONDAY) if you keep His Feasts so as not to be "cut off" you will NOT find them using the Gregorian calendar of confusion (the Feasts will be kept FOREVER, even in the Kingdom to come!) and as you should know, Passover Messiah kept and Pentecost was kept AFTER Messiah rose from the dead so Abba expects us to keep these Feasts (not wicked Christmas, Easter...all are satanic hellidays are not to be kept). Messiah told us himself to keep the Passover in remembrance of him.
      I pray you are doing all these things Earl.
