- Hello everyone. Today I'm going to be breaking down and reacting to the trailer for ALIEN: ROMULUS, easily one of my most anticipated movies of the year.

Sorry guys, I misspoke! I meant to say “pulse” rifle, not “plasma” - not sure how that error escaped me in the editing.
It's actually a burst rifle from the Aliens: Fireteam Elite game that shoots in short bursts it's a variant of the M41A pulse rifle
@@chination1796 Funnily enough I've been playing Fireteam recently and I thought it looked extremely familiar - aside from the basic design standard. As it turns out, I literally used the burst rifle a couple of days ago! So maybe you're right.
Romulus is the name of one of the space stations, the other space station is called Remus. Remus has the 70s tech look and feel of the original Alien, Romulus has the tech look and feel of Cameron’s Aliens. Alvarez said this very recently on a podcast.
Generic?? Those are beautiful sets and space ship designs in Prometheus and Covenant. Gosh. You people get way too judgmental of those movies. Watching David walking through the Prometheus, watching Lawrence of Arabia and dying his hair is absolutely hypnotic. Thats when i started falling in love with the cinematography and set design in Ridleys prequels.
Dude I love Prometheus and covenant. And David is such a fantastic villain. People be hating too much.
i agree people are just dumb as I said before nimbys want blood and pulse rifles with lots of aliens these people just simply cant get over aliens movie, it will be nothing like aliens going to be just your generic horror movie with plenty of blood and lots of jump scares no depth at all.
People want to see xenomorphs not some android with daddy issues.
Prometheus was an interesting concept but it's not Alien.

@@SCARFACE_805 Prometheus was not an Alien movie. But it was set in that universe. Alien Covenant is literally a well made crossbreed of Alien and Prometheus. It continues Davids descent into madness while introducing us to new horrors in the Alien universe, which include the xenomorphs we all know and love

same here, I also noticed that when the camera goes to the bloody cryo bed you can faintly hear the save station beep.
I’m betting they used the game as inspiration for some scenes :)
With movies like this it all comes down to how well does the cast preform. If they give bad performances the movie will fail. If they are given bad Lines the movie will fail. If the script is bad the movie will fail. The aliens just have to do what the Aliens do, this is all on how likeable and attached do we get to the cast.

Well, I didn't care about the characters in the original. That film was just share horror. I must admit that the acting was decent, though, but the script didn't make me care about them much.

Just a bit of a trivia, Director Fede Alvarez said that the station is called Renaissance. Renaissance has two parts, an older one called Remus, and a newer one called Romulus. I guess Remus is the grittier, dirtier, obviously older looking part of the station as seen in 3:11, while Romulus is seen at 3:23.

Thanks for the breakdown. I hope this film doesn't end up being annoying cool kids vs aliens. One of best features of films 1-4 (imho) is all the uniquely quirky characters.

I think that these characters could be from the colony on LV-426 and maybe the huggers got on their ship before they took off and before events from Aliens. Cool idea anyways!
So long ago when the first alien movie came out, but the franchise continues. I bought my son the 'Alien quadrilogy' years ago and the concept continues to fascinate and entertain. Ridley Scott was genius with the first one but the later ones showed too much of the creature to maintain the tension in the first film. I hope this doesn't disappoint! Too much CGI can spoil a film so can too much 'alien'
This is exactly what Ridley Scott should focus 🧘 his attention on producing more of these horror flicks instead of sequels to Gladiator.
Thanks for the breakdown dude! One thing I noticed but maybe I´m wrong, in the shot (0:59 min), in which we can see a person falling down after the facehuggers broke the glass and burst out through the door, I think the person has a flamethrower as a weapon, for the tanks in the back and what appears to be an igniter.
Hope this movie at least it´s good cause it´s been to long time since a good Alien movie (the shorts for the anniversary were good but again, long time ago).
With it being a Disney movie, expect a few more trailers giving a lot away. Disney will want to score big with this, especially as the last outing was dreadful. The fact Scott likes it and is the producer doesn't fill me with confidence at all.

Probably won’t cover any more trailers as I’ll be avoiding them like the plague.
But....if there's one thing Alvarez can deliver on as a director, it's Hitchcockian, but to circle ching suspense. I suspect that will do a LOT of the heavy lifting in this film.

Isabela Merced has actually confirmed she is the actress creeping down the corridor - you can tell the hair lengths are completely different to what we see of Cailee

@@MrGreaves yes she tweeted the video still saying it’s herself earlier, I feel the teaser is either showing us Cailee as our Ripley but I have a feeling Isabel is either an early out or going to surprise us all and last a good majority of it myself but looks to me as if Aileen’s character is one of the scavengers on board Fede mentioned and I see her being one of the first to go to start the action off

Im Aliens fan so aim super excited for this one. That trailer blow me out of the water. I haven't been excited for a Movie in a long time. Also, it’s been confirmed that Romulus is one half of the space station - with the other being called Remus, who was closely connected to Romulus in Rome.
It's looking very good to me! I'm an Alien movie fan since the 1st was released at the theater. I Can't Wait!! But...I'll have to. 😉

Anything Alien, I watch. Although I'm one of the few who doesnt like Aliens. I like scary xenomorph. Not action xenomorph. And so this new one looks right up my alley.
I’m also an ‘Alien’ above ‘Aliens’ guy - but I love ‘em both. This new one definitely looks more ‘Alien’ though, which is why I’m so hyped!
Practical effect aliens will always be Supreme. Cant stand cgi.
What I can ~ "add" as a "hope" is that because it is sort of "reboot"... As mentioned a few times in the beginning of the trailer discussion... "disconnected" used a lot of times as description... it is not too ~generic. What I mean by that is that, when not bound by the mesmerizing previous franchise story setting, and only set within the same "trivia" or ~realm... or Universe (I mean no sudden Blade Runner references I'd assume, but you get what I mean), it better have an intriguing plot as a stand alone. If not the Alien itself might not be enough... I mean I mostly been happy with everything that had it in it... The one Alien related movie I am unsure if I have ever watched is the one about the Alien Predator species cross over that is continuation of the movie that ends with Alien with 4 jaws spawning out of a dead predator leaving earth`s orbit (I've obviously watched that one), but the chronologically next (I assume) somehow I am unsure what happened around those years and if I have seen it or not, or I just don`t remember it at all and am only aware of it from other media that mentions and/or showcases it.
Looks good so far we shall see....

There are 2 parts to the space station, the aforementioned Romulus and Remus, one old. One new.

Since Remus and Romulus deal with a sibling killing another, I’m guessing there are two survivors near the end and one must kill the other in a mercy killing. Facehugger/chestburster related maybe

I agree regarding the newer spaceship designs, especially Prometheus, which is also literally a Serenity ripoff on steroids. I do _kind of_ like the simplistic design of the Covenant and its Lander One shuttle however. The bold square solar sails were pretty cool. Too bad the films, although technically jaw-dropping, didn't exactly deliver with the disappointing script. Anyways these are my two cents.
See that’s the thing. I like Prometheus a lot (not so much Covenant) but the ships let me down a bit, especially because the films were done by Ridley Scott.
People seemed to have misunderstood and just assumed that I hate Prometheus now 😂
@@MrGreaves I respect your opinion on Prometheus. Some people like it, others don't. It sure divided the fanbase lol. I actually genuinely like Alien 3 Assembly Cut and even Alien Resurrection, and lots of people seem to dislike those.
@@Henrik.S8 that’s crazy 😂 I like the A3 Assembly Cut too. I’d give it a solid 7/10 maybe. I even find Resurrection fun.
And yeah, Prometheus is definitely one of the most divisive films I’ve ever seen 😂 but I don’t really pay much attention to the prequel aspects of it.. I like it more as its own thing.

Watching the trailer instantly gave me alien isolation vibes, the terror, not the plot particularly.

Guarantee it’s a remake of the first alien. I guarantee it. This is hollywoood. They are devoid of originality and it will be the start of a new franchise. No doubt the sequel will be a rehash of aliens and it would’nt surprise me if the characters are the same names in alien hence why they have held them back

6:20 The face huggers are 100% dissapointing. They creep and crawl. How on earth do they get such height? The tail is to wrap around a neck.
Remember the set peace from Aliens with the two face huggers?
You don't do horror fast, you do horror slow and creepy.
6:15 I just didnt buy this shot. The FIRST thing you do when something approaches your mouth face is to block with your hands and arms.
The height thing is a bit ridiculous, but it’s been a staple of the franchise for a while now. Maybe they use both their fingers and tail to propel them?
Also I feel like there will be a much creepier and slower scene with the facehuggsrs before a big and tense action sequence that we see here, so you may be serviced after all.

The person whom the aliens have no interest in is Rook , Ash like android . Something different is the new Zeno , which is certainly going to look different and adds a twist or two .

These scenes in various movies where some animal breaks through glass-it didn’t look good in Planet of the Apes, and it doesn’t look good when face hugged just walk through a window. Really these animals should have to work at breaking the glass, not just sort of walk through it. As if the glass was added later…. Just looks bad. Wish movie maker would stop doing it.
It's a bit too early to tell but it looks interesting although maybe too familiar, although obviously these sort clips could be edited in for marketing purposes and the next trailer could show something entirely different.
As long as Romulus builds up tension and delivers genuinely frightening and/or disturbing scenes coupled with good acting, writing and pacing, this could be a good Alien movie for the first time in decades. No space albinos, flute magic, idiotic and uninteresting characters, thick soy sauce that does whatever magic the script wants it to do, and last but not least no more David and his theatrical delivery about life, feelings and creation. No more philosophy, more deep space horror please.

Romulus is another part of the ship.
Its funny how you say its not a translucent dome when its been stated that this is the big chap from the orginal. In another photo you see his dome abut more and has battle damage. Also he has silver teeth.
Didn’t see the statement about it being the Big Chap - also didn’t see the promotional photos showing the head to be translucent - as they came out after I made this. I did release this the day after the teaser trailer dropped so I didn’t have lots of information to go on.

Heard about this earlier today, very interesting… Both are names related to the founding of Rome, so I’m wondering if there’s gonna be any thematic purpose or if they just sound cool 🤔
We all know how this will work out - teens in trouble will get killed in horrible ways until the female protagonist wins...its just another needless iteration of the same story
