Honestly just do normal f***in print runs. Sell them like the old Spellbook boxes. Yugioh does collectors boxes all the time like w/ those knights of the round table cards. There exist ways to print unique, one-off card sets. Wizards just can't seem to figure out that FOMO hurts the game's longterm health. Like, if it's not common enough to be sold at the Target card game aisle your business model is bad for the consumer.
@@mercuryc6669 I'm thinking it might really boil down to WOTC's logistical capacity. Limited print runs might be the only way they can sustain their hectic release schedule.
I’ve run a game store for 15 years and this is just going to be from the vault all over again. Stores will get a limited supply of high demand cards. Stores will just flip the lairs online or charge and arm and a leg
Pokemon did collectibility of cards the right way. All their base cards are dirt cheap with all the alt arts, special editions, etc. coming with a price tag.
Honestly I feel like it would be pretty easy to make mechanically unique cards available to the masses. Just make a yearly collector's box where every mechanically unique printed that year is reskinned as in universe.
Out of curiosity, regarding the Halloween drops still for sale... Does anyone know just how many have actually been sold versus how many are still available?
Unless this is extra stock being printed and given to stores to sell this is a disaster and a complete failure. There is no way the product will be on the shelf after I get off of work, maybe it lasts a day at best, unless its one of those ones nobody wants. This product may as well not exist, most people work all day, but if you don't sure go to all the local game stores near you to scalp all the secret lairs off the shelf before anyone else can get them good job wizards nothing about the supply issue.
I'm cautiously optimistic. Stores having stock *after* the drop accomplishes two things; one, it's a quantity of the product that is much more resilient to scalping, and since stores will be getting stock directly from WPN, it means less stores are in the mix gunning for the lairs as they drop, which is certainly a factor in things getting sold out on the spot, particularly the mechanically unique ones. I don't think it's a BIG step up; I think WotC should just adopt a hybrid model where the limited run is "first edition" or whatever and then do a print to demand preorder for later on, so people who don't mind waiting aren't out in the cold. But failing that, this should at least be a mild improvement. It also depends on how it's all handled though, because anyone who's played/collected long enough saw what happened with From The Vault products. I dunno, Secret Lair is in such a dire fucking place that any iteration whatsoever on the current model is at least a minor improvement. I guess we'll see in two years when WotC finally wraps back around to print to demand.
The way this can work is if it's pay on scan for the retailers, price controlled, and they print enough quantity that these WPN UW reprints don't run out right away. Fail at any step in that process and this is a bad half measure that adds stock but not by enough to matter.
Wotc just pissing us, the real customer that play the game, the scalpers n other horrible names I would call them, I can't say lest i get banned from youtube... Still thinking of walking away and using only proxies for what I want to play. (90k plus cards)
I have been enjoying my step back from MTG. Played since alpha. The lands are pretty but still cost too much. Should have been a set of 25 of each type for about $50, foil for 75. Would have sold out already. Also, where are the commander tier lists? They kind of let that fade away.
Has nothing to do with the video... I have been playing mill since innistrad when I started back up playing. I believe I have broke the mill strat with undead alchemist alongside duskmantle guildmage. We play kitchen table magic so no real format. But once this thing gets rolling it's a mess to deal with... I milled 4 players on the same turn 104 cards a piece... and if they recycle with cards like geea's blessing... pay 3 mana and they just lose 1 life for each card milled. Along with crabs, and lotus cobras for mana fixing for mill spells and drawing cards... super nasty... like disturbing when it comes to mill. Thoughts?
Also each creature milled this way with alchemist on the field is exiled and you create a 2/2 zombie... they can't deal damage just mill for damage... creature heavy decks don't really stand a chance
yea, and then you run into golgari with sources of healing: "oh wow, he is putting stuff into my graveyard for me? sweet! so what that i get pinged for 1 health every time i mill, i can heal like 6+ per turn" saying you mill whatever for whatever in a single turn means nothing unless you say by what turn and your consistency and if you have other wincons as mill is not as universal of a wincon as health is
@shdowdrgonrider the primary goal is mill I hit someone with a glimpse with the alchemist out every creature is exiled and you create a 2/2... after that your going wide with zombies that don't do combat damage only mill plus the bouns of crabs for 12 on a evolving wilds lol duskmantle is a safety net... paired with normal graveyard hate... it eats the brains "library" it just gets outta control quick and it's fun to watch it run
Do people really still buy secret lair? I'm proxying them because WOTC should go back to print more of each set so shops and online stores can sell them. Also the more people proxy the worse it is for scalpers so it's a double win.
Its total bs they just sold the marvel foils to their boyfriends 😒 🙄. Oh great you made super busted cards that I can buy from your boyfriends on Ebay for 400 , eat $hit eat my $hit wizards. That was the only cool 😎 secret lairs in a hot minute too.
Secret lair should always have been unique art prints. Collector's items, not unique cards.
just do from the vault but with all the cool printings they can do now
Honestly just do normal f***in print runs. Sell them like the old Spellbook boxes. Yugioh does collectors boxes all the time like w/ those knights of the round table cards.

The stores are gonna price gouge like they did with from the vault
Or they will just not sell them to accrew value

Final Fantasy TCG had done the same.. it's a shame more don't know it exists... haha
@@nexmeles8023 FF just not as collectible and the game wasn’t amazing.
@@jw70467 It's gotten better, but not near the levels of mtg/pokemon

I cant wait to build a commander deck based on the legendary creature Johnny Sins
My group usually only does proxies if we own the card but after the marvel secret lair fiasco we have just started fully proxxying all secret lairs
Please, please just go back to print to demand, wizards. You can still say that they sell out each time!
knowing how the one actual top tier WPN store near me acts already, its gonna be even worse than the current system.
"and for those of you that have touch grass..." 🤣🤣🤣
Are they gonna be Universes Within or just more copies of the universes beyond cards?
The wording implies they’re the exact same drops!
So instead of equal access for anyone with an internet connection, it's preferred access for people in big cities. Thanks, WOTC! I HATE IT!
It's currently equal access for everyone who is running bots with an internet connection, so it's trash either way.
Can't use sexy playmats, can't use sexy lands.
i’d rather play against a Georgia o’keeffe island then an anime bikini liliana playmat
They better have a Hash Slinging Slasher Unstoppable Slasher
The slash ringing hasher?
Georgia O'Keeffe Secret lair looks dope.
wait they got rid of the list I guess i just didnt notice because the list cards were in play boosters for like one set?
Out of curiosity, regarding the Halloween drops still for sale... Does anyone know just how many have actually been sold versus how many are still available?
Bro thirty seconds in he's eviscerating his audience unprompted
Stores are gonna gouge the ever living hell out of these. 😒 Keep it online, where it’s only overpriced, but not scalped.

So the select lgs locations will get a portion of the non foil drops, which could reduce the stock of the online shop.

So... would you buy a "List" Booster? What if it was epilogue style Booster?
Lol was the first thing me and the misses thought

Quite the problem, anyways I'll be in the corner proxying my cards
Proxies are king. I even get better art and bordering than the official cards most of the time.
I'd like 30 Vagirests, vagiwastes, vagiwamps, vagilains, vagislands, and vagitains please.
Just in time for my mono blue deck
I can't connect all the dots just yet, but I'm almost certain this is the beginning of an overall plan to crackdown on proxies by WotC.
