How is this not up to over a million hits and likes? Thumbs up if you agree!

I adore this song - fell in love with the church when I brought The Blurred Crusade

this band never received either the acclaim or financial payoff it deserved.Quite the shame for how talented they were, and still are.

Among the best bands of the late seventies, like The Saints, Boys Next Door-Birthday Party, Laughing Clowns, Essendon Airport, et al. However as you say they are unsung heros of Australian music culture.

apparently they were able to do everything in the last 20 years because of the album sales of starfish or so kilbey said.

It still makes me smile to know my room mate stole my CD of "Priest = Aura." I simply went and bought another copy. The Church is so great, it was the only album I had stolen.

Lol, my old flatmate drilled Priest=Aura into my head years ago. I didn't end up stealing his, but I found a cheap new copy on sale for five bucks. Because I was a casual listener, it seemed to...anger him. 😾
And if you've only lost one cd to flatmates, consider yourself bloody lucky. I've lost a pile of CD's, and some really choice vinyl. If there's karma, those fuckers got what was due them.

I know they hated the production on this album. But how good? Perfect Church.

I love Seance but what the engineer did to the snare drum on this track is a crime against music. Would love to hear a Steve Wilson remix of Seance ... it is a classic!

Steve had a little Robyn in his voice on this one. :)

In reference to the drums Kilbey writes 'Machine guns would blush at the rapid-fire electro miasma of Richard's rolls...' Yes I tend to hear it that way too. I reckon the band should've mixed the album themselves.

Just found out this song was written about his first love Jennifer Keyte “the girl on the radio” How utterly Beautiful

☝️Even though it's a little rough and raw as far as the production is concerned. Still to this very day Seance will always be one of my favorites. 🗿

Can you imagine how beautiful this would have sounded if they kept the producer from 'Th blurred Crusade'..Glen, mountain or what ever his fuckin' name was...the lush layered guitars and the soft knife instead of the lash of the whip. however, it is called 'Lash', unfortunately. 'Electric Lash, of whips in the studio fills my head with dread, only the voice of a girl on the radio confirms the church is dead" . And so they were until a brief repriese in 1987, with that Milky Way bullshit.

The case for make-up was meant for boys. Like The Smiths with a genuinely sexy singer.

It's a great song, one of the greatest I ever knew. But Richard Ploog does NOT play drums on. It's a drum machine.🙂

You’re getting it confused with Under The Milky Way and the ones that aren’t the 4 songs he plays on in Gold Afternoon Fix? It wasn’t until they went to LA and had Waddy Watchel producing Starfish and GAF that my dad started being excluded from tracks.
