10:19 If you're wondering who ALSKI is, that's Alex Alonzo who runs Street TV. He's now a college professor and was even on an Ali G episode (the one where he's trying to learn about LA gang culture). ALSKI is originally from the Bronx, so like SOON, he's one of the early NY writers who imported graffiti to LA.
Seriously ! I’m an Aussie writer and these guys are the Mount Rushmore of the graffiti scene laid the platform for all of us ! Wish they thought this shit in school ! 😂🤝
I remember seeing SER on the last heaven on the 110 before exiting on gaffey in San pedro It was a filled in throw up and I cant remember what it said next to it this was like 88 or 89 that was the first hit on that heaven it stayed up for about a year. Earliest graffiti I seen in north long beach and lakewood was about 1982 but it was just a dude that wrote georgie wimplemeyer everywhere with regular paint theres still a wall with his original tags after years of buffing the paint peeled off to show his tags its on del amo under the train bridge in north long beach
I think it was around the late eighties . Being from the Central Valley. My dad took me to L.A to visit some family. We were in Hollywood walking on the strip. I seen this cat walk up to a bus and catch a tag on it. I think I was 12/13 yrs old. I’ll never forget that shit.
same. early 90s I saw my own cousin whos 15 years older painting over some graffiti on a local grocery store and my mom explained that he did graffiti on it and got caught. It wasn't long after that I saw him do it in person. later joined the same crew
I was a boyle heights 9 year old kid back in 86 from wabash ave who wrote Rak and my homie Kron racking up Rtds inside and out with cans, silver/gold unis, marks alot, magnum 44, jumbo pilots and so on. Key, Void, Mandoe, Nfl, ftl, ftw were up in my area.
Wasn't there a hood called v.Wabash 13, herd a story they ended cuz they're heavy hitters were involved in that whole cocaine incident bringing it on a plane , think there was movie about it to . They been in the feds ever since
You know who also had tags like that in every street pole was Blitzr and Seves. Tags of course. I remember always seeing those two names when I was out walking through LA.
If you guys notice 89-94 becomes dark, at the same time gangster Rap became popular and so did the crews...the music pumped up the teens .... Take one ATRF
Fucking Wish...wassup my boy. I looked up to dude so much as a kid. I was Mateo's neighbor and he taught me so much. Writing back in the day was such a different thing...such a magical thing.
