  • I had to find a fumerole that I heard about years ago on the news where 3 ski partollers died from the lack of oxygen in a snow pit they fell in to as they adjusted the fence around the vent.

    One day, in not so distant future.... she is gonna blow. Lots of earthquakes rumbling in that area.

    You would think they would have Something more substantial than that flimsy fence surrounding it.

      I think the whole area is forbidden to go around but this dude just decided to trespass any way. That is what the description sounds like if you read it.

      That area receives 50-60 feet of snow annually. There is no way to put something more substantial there.

      Well at least of it being cost effectived any ways. If did they wished to spended enough they could builded a huge of diversion wall aboved it. Maked it a 40 feet thick, re-barred and too anchored *V* Withed the point facing uped hill and the vent to be inside of the *V* so does it forced moving snow around of it and 40 feet high would maked sure the idiots would know it there is some of thing there, and the vent would melted all the snow which does fall in to the *V*. But it would be very very costy just to stopped some of fools which do not follow rules of signs and it could be wrecked very the next acshull erupting of the volcano.

      Normally if the fumerole is venting the gas is not toxic. After a 2 or 3 day storm it covered over and trapped the gas inside , the gas became very toxic. When the Patrollers fell in there was no oxygen only toxic gas.PS two patrollers fell the 3rd patroller was a rescuer

    Mammoth releases the same amount of CO2 per day as 1,200 semi trucks.

      Yeah, don't worry -- the EPA will start fining the McCoys for allowing their ski area to put out so much CO².

      @Real Geology with Chris! Tucks bad, airplanes good. Pay no mind to the fuel used to generate the electricity for the e vehicles quickly filling landfills with toxic lithium batteries, or the fact that massive amounts of fossil fuel is needed to build the engine and tires. Pay no mind to how much control the government will have over an entirely electric vehicle world. One EMP wipes us out of transportation. Remember the first car ever made ran on hemp. Wake up to the climate change agenda lies, they want you to be taxed to live while they keep flying around in private jets.
      100% about control, nothing to do with saving the planet. Check out Project Veritas leak video of CNN director saying they're just waiting until "the people will accept it" and they will change from CV to climate change. More invisible boogie men making you believe if you comply with them then you're a hero, if you don't you're murdering grandma (or the earth). Here's that video th-cam.com/video/9faQkIA6YNU/w-d-xo.html

    Fünky! Sad that we have no vulcanic activity in da Alps....

    • @operator0
      @operator0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Different types of tectonic activity. The Alps are whee two crustal plates are colliding, just like the Himalayas. Mammoth Mountain.is a result of crustal spreading. It lies on the Western edge of the Basin and Range geologic province, which extends from the Sierra Nevadas as far East as the Wasatch Mountains just outside of Salt Lake City. This area of the North American continent is currently in the early stages of rifting into two parts, much like the Great Rift Valley in Africa. Millions of years from now, Nevada may be covered by ocean, as a new tectonic plate is formed.

      Sorry Angie but I don't know Mammoth Mt. well enough to name the run that this vent is on but it is on the to the left of the main tram area and about half the way to the bottom. On a cold calm day you can see the steam plum comping from the fumarole.

      Your actually an idiot
      The cascades each formed at different times and have different eruption styles
      Crater lake in modern day is likely gonna form a new cinder cone in its lake or an underwater explosion
      While modern day St.Helelns might form another lava dome like in its 2008 eruption
