I remember that year well. I was a senior in high school. Most if not all of the snow fell between early December and early February. It was the year of JFK's inauguration which featured a 10" snowfall. I made a lot of money, for those days, shoveling snow.
That was also the winter of that dreadful midair airplane collision of two planes over Brooklyn and Staten Island. There was tremendous sadness in the city right before Chtistmas because of that event. In February I remember as a little kid in the New York suburbs trekking to the school bus stop in galoshes in 8 degrees that winter. But little kids think a lot of snow is fun. Snowballs. Snowmen. Riding sleds downhill. Having snow days declared and staying home and watching TV in the daytime. Whoopee.
I hope the furniture business had insurance. It never was easy nor cheap to sell a business and move to Florida. By the way, how do you start a blizzard?

Yep all I remember when I was 10 years old when the snow got hard building igloos on my block on Garfield place Brooklyn New York.
