It’s time to have Usher on RnB Money!
I think y’all should do these types of episodes more often. It would be pretty dope if y’all did something at the top or end of each year to recap on all the big and overlooked moments in R&B - kinda like how Uncle Murda does his Rap Up series.
💯 I'm here for it
"USHER WAS HAVING A CONCERT,AND THERE WAS A FOOTBALL GAME GOING ON"😅😅😅 OMG, TANK YOU ARE A GENUIS!!! LOVE TO YOU TOO J. BEST SHOW EVER❤❤❤
He must have been at the Sahara lol
That boy usher is ICONIC now. He earned every second of that Superbowl moment 🤌🏾🎖️👑💎✨🙏🏾 that was history. I think even the greats would say to usher "u did good boy, u did DAMN good". 30yrs? That's amazing.
Put some much needed respect on Tanya Blount's name. She's the wife who sings in the War N Treaty and has been around since the 90s. She was in Sister Act 2 and had a hit single called Through the Rain. She has an amazing voice and I'm happy she found her lane in the industry.
I agree. But I really think they don't even realize it's her. For her to leave the music scene as an R&B artist for over a decade and then return in the country arena with her hubby as a duo....a lot of ppl didn't put 2+2 together. So happy to see her doing her thing and still sings DOWN❤❤❤
Wait… WHAT??????!!!!!!!!!
WOW 😳 I remember her. Through the rain was one of my favorites. Didn't know that ❤️
I agree. This is my first time hearing of this group. But Tank and Valentine have definitely mentioned Tanya Blount on the podcast before.
Yess I thought I recognized her voice
The first thing out of Jay’s mouth was a thank you to Dr Dre and how he opened doors for rappers who came after him 🤦🏾♀️. He handled business THEN stood up for his wife. He didn’t take away from anyone’s moment, he literally used his own.
Exactly!!! But you can always tell when ppl DONT have Grammys because they always feel some type of way of how others handle their moment! Like why jay standing up for his wife making you feel away to the point where you just totally looked over the whole speech. SMH 🤦🏾♀️
"When you use the J Valentine candle you should hear...(clap sounds)"🤣🤣🤣🤣
yo 🤣
😂😂😂
I wish they would've gone more in-depth about Ushers performance. He paid homage to several R&B singers like Prince, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Brown, Michael Jackson, James Brown and others.
I'm.glad J mentioned how dope the group "War and Treaty" is. They probably don't even realize Tanya is the girl in Sister Act 2 singing with Lauryn at the piano. Great conversation 🌟
Whaaaat?! Oh snap
Ooh wow. Didn’t know that. Thank you.
I’m surprised Tank don’t know about them,War and Treaty are from the DMV. Once he finds out Tanya Trotter(maiden name Blount) had the song Through the Rain he’ll remember
@@claytonlee313 I was just coming to say this.. C'mon Tanya Blount, they ( W& T) have a real story to tell also....
Right, and I recall her having a song I sang to death as a kid (Through the Rain)
I kept saying ‘Awww, that’s nice how they let them play catch at the Usher concert!’
I can see R&B Money Podcast having an awards show in the future! Best R&B artist, writer, producer, collaborative, paying homage to a great, best up n coming, I didn't forget award (people who give back to the community and makes a difference in the lives of others), label give back award, dj of the year, and then feature some of the new artist to look out for and so much more! R&R motivated. The R&B Authorities producing/overseeing it! I can see it!
Ok. I'm only 2 minutes into the show and paused it to type this....🤦🏾♀️ Lemme go finish watching 🥰 Keep up the excellent work gentlemen!
J Valentine deserves to be part of the Grammy nominating team
The War and Treaty is special. J is correct-- the husband is a veteran and the wife is '90s rnb singer Tanya Blount. [His Eye Is on the Sparrow w/Lauryn Hill and Through the Rain]
I graduated w/Tanya Blunt and my sister graduated w/Tank.. the high schools are 5/6 miles apart..
That Morgan State alum can sing her butt off. Loved her hairtsyle and vocals in Sister Act 2.
Her having this behind the scenes resurgence with her husband is great to hear!
Wow i didnt know this!
Usher gave a master class on how to do a Superbowl show. To sing, dance, skate and entertain in front of 65,000 live and Millions worldwide was the epitome of Show business. Not even some of our legends sang completely live. He's an R&B 🐐
J Valentine is a menace!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣I'm so happy that we get to watch this brotherhood!
This Podcast is My Coffee in the morning. Like fr though. Love some Good Music history and talk. It’s much appreciated and the R&B culture needs it. Proud of these two Black Kings of music. We gotta do our part to support and keep it alive and well as it should be.
No lies told in this episode. Usher did an exceptional, outstanding job! Gave us a real show! Production was amazing!
Almost to that 💯 episode! I’m sure this will be big for you guys and can’t wait to see who’s coming 😎🍾🎉🙌🏽
I was telling someone the same thing yesterday when I saw the preview for today.... I just know the 100 episodes will be a celebrated spectacular moment..I can't wait either🎉🙌🏽❤🙌🏽❤
Usher should be the 100th guest.
They have been wanting to get Stevie for a long time, so maybe him. Also Tameka Foster Raymond just pretty much promised Patti Label. Maybe her. My last prediction is Chris Brown. Tank calls him his son and his name comes up almost every podcast. We will see. Whoever it is I can’t wait!!
Breezy 100
We need...Brandy. Joe. Ledisi. Tamia. Deborah Cox.
You know what? I never thought about being in a believeable kinda shape to sell the songs you’re singing, but Tank is right…if you’re up on stage singing about “I can go all night”, you better be in “I can go all night” shape.
15:30 speaking to Js point the song that I admire similar to Kill Bill
Is “Bust The Windows Out Your Car” by Jasmin Sullivan
I love the "Just the two of Us" episode. Talkin music and laughing. J being J talking about seduction at half time 😂❤
J’s laugh is truly infectious!
Can we plz point out (on the usher topic) that he opened the Superbowl show with "my way" and he looked like a king in that white fur sitting upon his throne! So proud of usher..30 yrs of hard work. He earned every moment. 👑💎
As much as I love the interviews. These Recaps are the shit!!!!
Tank is gracefully saying, "These folk don't have no class, no manners, and no decorum..." 😂 I Love Tank lol
J’s laugh when talking about that hotel had me 😂😂😂😂
J Valentine is outta control😂 but dope music bro! Salute💯
Thee AUTHORITY!! Giving everybody GAME. Pay attention . You gon laugh and learn EVERY episode.
I was so happy that Theron won Songwriter of the Year, mostly because of the education and the entertainment I got from his podcast episode... it's one of my favorites. salute to him!
His episode was dope
His I ain’t saying no names story was in my Top 5.
Interesting discussion including where J. mentions the process for submission for the Grammys, as usual great high value content from R&B money, Tank and J. who are a formidable force in the music industry.
I love J. he’s that friend that’s gone keep you in line. We all need a J in our life.😂❤❤❤
33:42 most of these people either directly were snubbed for years or watched their close counterparts parts get snubbed for years and that is where their frustration and occasional disregard to an extent comes from. Miley first speech was her saying pretty much the moment she stopped chasing the accolades that’s when the accolades actually came so she was truly taken off guard after being snubbed so many years.
J, converse with me, baby, lol! And keep promoting your album and "slapping" candles. Talk yo ish!!
😂😂😂
TYLAs music is called AMAPIANO mixed with Bacardi. South African!!
The screeeeam I screampt when J said he wanted the nasties at the end of the Confessions album to be performed by Ush at the Super Bowl. 😅😆😂
Usher killed that, rnb all day ❤
Episode 91! Beyond inspired by ya'll building this pod from the IG live/pandemic days to 91 solid episodes deep and counting! Love yall
Thanks for the support !!🙏🏾
Great episode. This recap format should be included after every major annual music and concert venue. Love this and you two for being so innovative (with R&B Money
Tank is correct about time, place and decorum. J is also right that sometimes people act how they act when they act.
"People act how they act when they act" 🔥
I love the husband-and-wife duo (Mr. & Mrs. Trotter) War and Treaty. The wife is the well-known singer Tanya Blount. 😊❤
I knew Luda was gonna be there but definitely screamed when he popped up on the screen! Love him!
Can we please get Al Green on the show! One of the best to ever do it!
Exactly. All of the LEGENDARY ICONIC artists ❤️💯
I need to know what ratchet ass hotel Tank stayed in😂😂J was killing me with the jokes
Congrats to you guys for a great podcast that makes my Saturday mornings great like Saturday morning cartoons when your a kid lol.
I loved the 17 minutes Usher concert!!🎵
😂😂Not reading Rainbow yall took me out with that!😀
My girl Coco got her dues! Victoria and Sza deserved more! 🎉
First off Tank's sweater was a vibe for this type of episode and the greys coming in on the sides is everything. Secondly J's laugh is everything. I need one of these episodes every few months.
Thank you for that Luda take!!! He's been in my top 5 since word of mouf honestly 😂😂 that guy is not to be messed with!!
They should bring Ashanti Nelly Monica Joe Thomas Bow Wow Usher or Keyshia Cole on you guys 🔜 because we want to hear their stories 😊😊😊
The synergy between you two is dynamic. I just love watching, all the laughter and jokes cracking. I be cracking up like im sitting with yall. It is a joy to see two black men just talk, laugh, and be their authentic selves🫶🏾
Thanks for this podcast! We've been really needing more community platforms for the space where conversations are had about vocals, writing, and authenticity. Hip hop has so many platforms for digesting the culture but rnb has been lacking but im glad that Is changing .
I love the way y'all can do this show and have an opinion without dissing artists. Music is subjective, but it's unnecessary to be negative towards one artist over another. Y'all are great with keeping it positive on camera 😂😂
I’m still torn about the Dr. Dre award-an award given in the name of someone who “allegedly” beat women. It doesn’t diminish his contributions to music but, it does give pause to money and power taking a higher role than character
I totally understand what you mean....its hard to overlook his alleged past viciousness towards women ....
This was a great show, love ❤❤ the recap. Lots of 😂😂😂😂 and just a great vibe🔥💯🔥💯. Shoutout to Usher👑👑🫦.
I really enjoyed just listening to you two have your men chats. You are both funny and very entertaining. It would be nice to keep this format in rotation.
I feel like I am sitting with my cousins swapping stories and hearing great stories behind the music & artist❤
Amapiano. Plural for Pianos. Come to South Africa
21:20 I have a question. If the term “pop” originally stood for popular how is that genre so heavily a particular sound opposed to being whatever the highest of the high songs out are?
I’m watch RnB Money Podcast like I watch the Power Universe… addicted…
Luda Is definitely top 5 living or dead. He’s insaneeee👏🏽
Agreed !
Jay acknowledged Dre at the top of his acceptance. This wasn't a closed door conversation. Say that shit out loud and in public.
Boom 💥 💥💥
I would love to hang out with these two "Smooth Criminals" for a weekend. They are hilarious together😂😂😂😂
I will say this: Usher is the King of R&B and Chris Brown the prince 😂
Hey Mr.Valentine can we get worldwide shipping on the candles! 🇬🇧💕
The clapping is what you should be hearing when you light the candle 🤣😂. And nah J! How you going to tease us like that with the “I ain’t saying no names” 😫. You could’ve at least set the story up.
Beyoncé and Usher are singers who dance all the damn time and don’t experience voice cracking while on stage. Alicia sits behind a piano and her voice cracks regularly. K.
Great observation. She's not a singing sanger that can sang. She's a pianist and composer.
Voices crack, people trip, wardrobes malfunction, people forget lyrics. Get over it.
@@j-dub22your right! Bey have fell a couple times, & hair got caught in a fan while on stage and guess what her voice still never cracked, Soooo what’s your point lol 😂
soooo happy to see 6lack nominated this year.. if we claiming him in r&b he's 100000% in my top 5
Artists downplaying the significance of Grammys, but are obviously bothered when they aren’t acknowledged. Love/ hate relationship
Theron's speech was hilarious...that's a Rock man lawd jesus😂❤
Grrrreat halftime show! I was impressed. Definitely the measuring stick👌🏽🔥❤️ (all of my Caucasian friends were really talking about it 🤣
Good show! Just like when you guys interview each other. The authenticity that we think of you becomes evident..( in my tank voice 😅)
Great Job! Always looking forward watching you guys on Saturday ❤❤
Thanks so much
55:02 DC slang: Slim , Joe, Bammas was Lunchin, Shawdy, Tank still remember his roots 😂
It is and forever and will be their show regardless how many Minorities are on the committee. I think J recognized that, and that’s why he accepted his award in that manner. Again, we need our own award show and not worry about their acceptance. They made that award show for them, not realizing that we would have to participate eventually. Blessings.
Santa discussion. I absolutely believe J would do that! 😂😂😂
I need that J. Valentine candle. Love candles! 🎉 It better not be $50 though. Bath and Body Works candles are $26.50 full price, without shipping, for a large 3 wick candle. IJS ❤
JD had those ruffle church socks I wore as a little girl. Looking like a pilgrim and like he belonged in the musical "Sound of Music". 🤦🏾♀️🤣
The fellas were cooking in this episode. 🎤 🎤 🎙 🎶 🎵 🎧 🔥
My sangin ass Uncles!!!❤
I knoooow Climax was my JAAAAAAM!!! ❤
I look forward to this podcast weekly
❤ this. I was honestly done with the Grammy awards when Mariah Carey didn't win Album of the year. She was played on R&B, Pop, Jazz, and Gospel stations. Keep bringing the ❤
Please get Patty Jackson from WDAS. 40 years in radio. 100% R&B. Plus, I know she has a lot of I ain't saying no name.
LET EM' KNOW, HUN!!! DEFINITELY get our Philly legend Patty Jackson of WDAS FM on the line. Quiet as it's kept I know for a fact that she would keep "I Ain't Sayin' No Names" interesting. 40 yrs in the radio game. ❤💯
❤❤❤❤THEE AUTHORITY!!!❤❤❤❤
Come on J w/ the candles!! I have my R&B Money hoodie-next candles. 🖤
Tank gotta know about The War & Treaty. Tonya Blount (DC Native) and her husband.
Such a beautiful recap you guys did! The industry knowledge and insight (musical, historical, etc.) + all of the life gems you guys shared as well.
. . . And Tank: You did well w/ the pronunciation of Amapiano. 'Piano vibes are definitely everything!
Enjoyed this sit-down with you Legends.
Enjoyed this episode. Always learn something on this podcast and as always J’s laugh is infectious and hilarious
“No you don’t actually “😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Y’all stay getting me through my work shifts. Love this podcast. Thank y’all for putting respect on SZA too. I’m happy for the awards she won but I strongly feel she should’ve gotten best album in the major and r&b categories.
Who knew J was a punchline king? Okaaay! ☺️
Me
I love J laugh with his fine ass
Chile….he is.
Keep promoting your songs J!! ❤❤❤
“You want your house to smell like’The Valentine?’”
“thats people who’ve never been looked at like that before” 50:42 🤝😮💨😮💨
Hilaaaaarious, but dang, yall just skimmed over the Alicia/Usher performance like that?? 🤣🤣 That woman can do no wrong, prego and all lookin GOOD up there. It was a performance and nothing else! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Great job as usual, fellas 🔥
Great show! You two are so entertaining!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
the tables on stage at the Doo Wop was crazy 😂 but such a good event & celebration of R&B! that was a Super Bowl weekend highlight forsure.
They should film the Grammys in full. Cut a televised version for CBS and cut a Urban version for BET and a Latin for telemundo😂😂😂
Me yelling out Amapiano lol
