Bhavani Island, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, South India:
Bhavani Island situated in the midst of the Krishna River, at Vijayawada. It is located at the upstream of Prakasam Barrage and is considered one of the largest river islands in India, with an area of 133 acres (54 ha). It has a robotic dinosaur park, garden maze, mirror maze, golf and badminton simulator, cycling, etc.
The Kanaka Durga Temple is the abode of Goddess Durga. She is also known with another name as Bhavani and hence, the island is named Bhavani Island. The island is located in close proximity to the temple.
Tourist attraction at Bhavani Island :
A.P. Tourism Development Corporation has taken initiatives to develop the place into a tourist spot. One such initiative is Shilparamam, an arts and crafts village project. It is also helpful for local artisans such as Kondapalli toy makers, weavers etc. APTDC has developed infrastructure on Bhavani Island to attract many tourists, which include sporting activities, resorts, rural museum, Berm Park, rope-way etc.
Where does Krishna Start and end :
The Krishna River rises from the Western Ghats near Jor village of Satara district of Maharashtra at an altitude of 1,337 m just north of Mahabaleshwar. The total length of river from origin to its outfall into the Bay of Bengal is 1,400 km.
The River Krishna :
The River Krishna then forms border between the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from Srisailam to Pulichintala for about 290 kms flows passing through NSP Dam. The river then flows for a length of 105 kms through Prakasam barrage at Vijayawada and joins Bay of Bengal after traversing about 90 kms.

కృష్ణా నది భారతదేశంలోని అత్యంత పొడవైన నదుల్లో మూడవది. దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో రెండో పెద్ద నది. కృష్ణలో నీటి ప్రవాహం సెకనుకు 2213 మీ3 . నీటి ప్రవాహం పరంగా ఇది దేశంలో కెల్లా నాలుగవ పెద్ద నది. తెలుగు వారు ఆప్యాయంగా కృష్ణవేణి అని కూడా పిలుస్తారు. పడమటి కనులలో మహారాష్ట్ర లోని మహాబలేశ్వర్కు ఉత్తరంగా మహాదేవ్ పర్వత శ్రేణిలో, సముద్ర మట్టానికి 1337 మీటర్ల ఎత్తున చిన్న ధారగా కృష్ణానది జన్మిస్తుంది. ఆపై అనేక ఉపనదులను కలుపుకుంటూ మహారాష్ట్ర, కర్ణాటక, తెలంగాణ, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లను సస్యశ్యామలం చేస్తూ మొత్తం 1, 400 కి. మీ. ప్రయాణించి దివిసీమలోని హంసల దీవి వద్ద బంగాళాఖాతంలో కలుస్తుంది.
విజయవాడ వద్ద ఈ నది 1188 మీటర్ల వెడల్పుతో విశ్వరూపాన్ని ప్రదర్శిస్తుంది.
దుర్గాదేవి యొక్క నివాసం. భవానీ గా ఆమెకు మరో పేరు కూడా ఉంది, అందువల్ల ఈ ద్వీపాన్ని భావాణి ద్వీపం అని పిలుస్తారు. ఈ ద్వీపం ఆలయం సమీపంలో ఉంది.
ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర పర్యాటక అభివృద్ది సంస్థ ఈ ప్రాంతాన్ని పర్యాటక ప్రదేశంగా అభివృద్ధి చేసేందుకు కార్యక్రమాలు చేపట్టింది.
ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర పర్యాటక అభివృద్ది సంస్థ పర్యాటకులను ఆకర్షించడానికి భవానీ ద్వీపంలో అనేక అవస్థాపనను అభివృద్ధి చేసింది, ఇందులో క్రీడా కార్యకలాపాలు, రిసార్ట్స్, గ్రామీణ మ్యూజియం, బర్మ్ పార్క్, తాడు-మార్గం మొదలైనవి.
