My great grandpa used to tell me stories about Jesse James buying things from his grandmothers farm. It wasn't until we went to Wise county and I saw the historical marker marking his campsite there that I realized it was probably true. His family farm was right near that sign.
About 50 years ago, I saw an actual photo of the maniacal capt. William Andersons head on a pike pole. And a colt revolver that was left in the barber shop in Centralia Missouri buy one of the Gorillaz . It had a name C.H.Boliver carved in the pistol grip. I tried to return it to the family. I did extensive research on it and always came to a dead end.
It’s interesting that the first time Jesse was shot it was during an attempted robbery of a civilian. He was never really a soldier, he was always just an outlaw.

Don’t see a lot of cowboy hats in any of the old west photos of the infamous, huh?
