It's gonna be rough for whoever's going to combine the map models of Hakone Turnpike from WMMT, Odawara (short) from Initial D, and scratch model the rest.
It'd be interesting if someone can do a hakone map like the shotoku team did with the greater Tokyo highways. Nagao, Hakone outbound, tsubaki line, hakone turnpike, and odawara are all within very close driving distances of each other.
It's mostly fast open road, nowhere in the world will you find speedbumps on such roads. Entering small towns/villages and intersections is a different story.

Thank you for the video Alexi. It really goes to show how skinny the roads are compared to exaggerated version, in both the show and manga. Appreciate the content.
If you want to do it I'd say take the Shinkansen to Mishima station and you can walk to the Toyota rent a car. Then from there the you can drive to the same area at 8:00 and from that area you can go all over the place. It's so worth it.
It is also the road for the first 5 minutes until the top of the mountain where the battle between Rin Hojo, Ryuji Ikeda und Takahashi Ryosuke took place in Initial D.
Stunning route that was hell to drive on during foggy weather! Was here a few months back and we were crawling through this stretch of road at what felt like

I still can´t believe, that I drove these roads in a GR86 a couple months ago and even saw the restaurant, where I had dinner, and the place at lake Ashi where I chilled quite a time in this video. Unforgettable memories for sure ❤

Interestingly, the bus ride back from Lake Ashi to Hakone Station takes in some of that route, especially where you were following the bus. Its kinda trippy being in the back whilst the driver is throwing it into the corners!
Really appreciated this visual after just watching the 3rd ep of MF Ghost! Bonus was the excellent mid-90's electronica music. Took me straight back to high school anime parties in the 90's!
