I am in shock!! :O ......I used to visit here between '91 and '94......The whole place was utterly rural....The country did not even have a train network......Roads were mostly muddy or were narrow pathways..... The Freedom Monument sat as a mighty Rock and sat as loner......very few Cars and mostly motorbikes, but that too did not meet the numbers.....The eateries were really ordinary and a drab market sat some place....and the whole of Vientiane went to sleep in the afternoon - 12 to 3, I think....they picked that from the French....Siestas.... And after all that, to see what I am seeing!~ WOW!! Long way come and thoroughly impressive!! All this within a few years......Would be great if someone told me when all this started in Laos.....Early 2000's??.... My country flaunts an 8% GDP Growth for the past 30 years and still has no 24/7 electric supply nationwide, which is first step when GDP makes the numbers (!!), and the Trains have carriages from the 60's design....while the toilets are designed from 1909..... Disgusted and pained, to say the least! Keep it coming LAOS!!
