Thats one of the main things I admire about you and Tim, in addition to the MANY MANY other great things you guys teach, you also teach RESPNOSIBLE fishing. I HATE seeing a fish killed whether by accident or intentional. Im not some PETA nut or anything like that but I LOVE fishing and if we dont take care of these fish NOW, then our kids and grandkids wont get to experience the joy of catching a fish of a lifetime like our generation has. Obviously, its going to happen. Sometimes your going to gut hook a fish or hook their gills and when that happens we do the best we can to help that fish and what will be, will be. But at the same time if we all do our part to fish responsibly and pass those habits down to our kids and grandkids then hopefully those big ones and their genetics will continue to thrive in the future. Thanks for all you guys do for this sport. If only there were more like you.

Great stuff as always, you guys got me into the big glide/swimbaits. Caught my first glidebait fish last fall on the 160 r2s s-waver it was a 4lb largie. Since then I've gotten quite a few more, I'd probably put it in my confidence category. Anyway hope to see you guys out in the inland northwest one of these days. Anyway thanks Matt and Tim Godbless

I wish you would do a vid to show anglers how to properly hold a big bass by supporting it with 2 hands instead of vertically with one hand where it tears their jaw ligaments and they can’t eat. The Texas Share a Lunker program has lost a lot of 13 plus pounders for this exact reason. I even see pros cranking their jaws holding them horizontally with one hand instead of two. Also letting them flop around on boat carpet or on the bank removes their protective slime and they get a infection. A lot of newbies don’t know better and you guys have a lot of viewers.

This is the best balanced video I think you've done. You covered each aspect of it very well including the lures in illogical categories, the different techniques and the equipment. Excellent job. You even played on my sympathies as I watched you get colder and colder earlier in the day. ..
As an idea for Northern fishermen, we have lite musky gear and lures that I think would fit the situation. It's true we fishing mainly for Smallmouths so this may not be appropriate but the rods, lines and reels may apply in more Southern climates without having to buy another specialized outfit.

🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣 Thanks for the great tips!! Two unrelated questions and one related question.. 1 - Can you describe what type of rod length and power you use for these swim baits? 2 - I’m looking to upgrade the graphs on my boat. Narrowed it down to 3, Hummingbird SI+, Lowrance HDS live, and Lowrance elite fs9, which is best in your opinion and why? Not looking to go all in with live imaging yet but maybe later on. But also really liking the 360 that Hummingbird offers.. 3 - What will it take for you to take me fishing?? Santee Cooper Lakes are my home lakes but for a chance to fish with you guys I’m willing to travel!!!!!

Free info for you swimbaiters. I fish the Smashtech Convict; 7 inch weedless swimbait. Instead of a screw lock, I take a think bolt and cut off the head; I hammer one end flat and drill a hole for an 0 ring. I attach the 0 ring to my hook and push the bolt through the nose and into the hook slot cavity. Then I put on a rubber washer and small nut and that’s it. That bait goes from 1-5 fish per bait; to over 100 bass per bait on average. Best weedless rigging system out there.

I know you said years ago that there were no trout in clear lake yet you usually fished the trout style baits, is there a reason for that and if I do the same rather than fishing a bluegill style am I costing myself bites? I know they eat gills on my home water but we also have carp, suckers and catfish which I assume big bass can also eat.

Also, how much braid do you use when spooling? Can I spool with no backing and a 150 yd. spool, or is that not enough line? I usually do not add backing. Thanks!

Man, what a great video! I love the swimbait ones. I don’t throw surface anymore after an incident with an Osprey(the raptor, not the lure) flying away with a Huddleston! I played him like a kite for about 30 seconds before he hit the water, with the line tangled around his feet/legs, then it took another 5 mins to get him to the boat and it got REAL interesting. I was finally able to get him free of my line avoiding those talons and beak and he flew away with a huge applause from the boats that had gathered for the show. 🤣. So the baits obviously look real but I fish where Eagles and Osprey are common so I don’t mess with surface now. Thanks again Matt. Great stuff

More people in the world today need to be as compassionate as you my friend. I commend you for sacrificing your chance to have a good time fishing topwater for the sake of the predatory birds. I had a goose once swim over and eat my spook off the surface in a pond once and I tried reeling it in really fast to get it away from the goose but that thing was crazy fast and just ran it down more and seconds later I was fighting a flying goose on my medium action topwater rod. I felt terrible and was able to get the goose subdued and get the hook out of it but I still throw topwater I’m just a little more careful now but thank you for being a compassionate human being. The swimbait videos are my favorite, look foward to them every year! Just started getting into smaller swimbaits ( 6 - 8 inches). I have had a lot of luck on bluegill profile swibaits compared to shad profile. Keep up the great work!!!

Thank you guys so much for the time and effort that goes into making this content so that we can be better prepared and knowledgeable about fishing. When your truly passionate about something it shows, and you want to share that with like minded people. Thanks again TB and tight lines everyone. Let's get this prespawn showdown going 👊🎣😁

Can’t believe I missed this video when you first put it out. I just got a Storm Arashi glide bait as a gift. I put new rings and hooks on it. I had no idea how to fish a glide bait, and still caught a nice 4 pounder. I now have 4 more glide baits. It’s so addictive!! Great info in this video.

Firstly, congratulations on the new addition to the Allen family. For those of you out there that want to get into big swimbaits fishing and don’t want to break the bank, I’ll share my set up with you all…. 8’6” irod Bailey’s Mag swim paired with an Okuma Citrix 364 baitcaster spooled with 20lb Izorline xxx copolymer. I have a few 8” Magdrafts, 5-6 Savage Gear swimbaits, a couple of Swavers, Baitsanity glides, and some terminal tackle all for less than $500…

lol this is so random but i went to tackle warehouse and was reading the reviews on this reel and im pretty sure one of the reviews was also you.
      "From: Kiki: Unknown 7/21/21
Comments: Just back from test driving my Okuma Citrix 364 baitcast reel... paired with an 8' irod heavy swimbait rod. Wow! I am very impressed! This real casts a 10' 6oz Savage Gear line through Trout with ease! After dialing in the reel for such a large bait, I was consistently casting it 40+ yards! Great big bait real for the price! Let's just see how she holds up over the next few months... 2nd review coming."

For $15 or less, I really like the Megabass Magdraft, it's a very good bait at a price point that doesn't make me want to punch bunny rabbits in the face.

How long of a leader do you recommend ? I was thinking 4-5 feet. Be my first year throwing swim baits. I use an Alberto when I do drop shots braid to flouro. But I don’t think I’d trust it with a 30-100$ bait tied on lol. So I was thinking uni-uni 4-5ft keep it out of the guises for more peace of mind. Was also considering throwing straight 15 or 20 pound flouro? Thank you

Thank you for this information. I'm trying to fish to feed my family, I respect the fish I catch and the ones I don't, if it's a small bass it's released immediately, big bass will help my husband with his healthier diet full of fresh fish, same with catfish, trout, crappie, and even bluegill. Thank you again for your help in education of the general public

  • @seanleau
    @seanleau ปีที่แล้ว

I don't know what species of bass you are catching bud, but if your are talking about large mouth and small mouth bass that can do that kind of damage to your hard bait and you still stick your fingers in to its mouth..... I am sure it's not the teeth from fish that cause the damage. It's probably the hooks that did it. 😜 Appreciate the knowledge and enthusiasm, some times your exaggeration is just too much to bare.... tone it down dude. 32:38

Hey I have a serious question, my pond the guy has bluegill but hasn’t stocked them in a few since he switched to stocking tilapia for them to eat, they get big but I feel like just applying bluegill strategies isn’t enough. Any tips for that or am I over thinking it?

I think one thing most beginners to swimbait fishing do is over complicate it lol just pick 2 or 3 soft baits and 2 or 3 hard baits that you think mimic the forage around you and fish the hell out of them!
