One little feature I would like to see is a messaging feature to communicate between the carrier owner and its users. Leaving messages when the owner isn't online that they will receive when they return. Also a greeting message the owner can create to communicate the carrier's destination, ect.
The fact that I can carry my fleet of ships anywhere at a single given time as well as store cargo for later use more than justifies the purchase. It currently has enough funds to cover the upkeep for 2 years and I'm sitting on another 2 years worth in my account. Absolutely love the thing!
Same mate but i didn't buy all services as some of them are really pointless such as im thinking buying outfitting but you have to put a tariff to earn anything then they will become much more expensive that they already don't have 15% discount Li Yong-Rui systems have!! So even i wouldn't buy anything from my own carrier unless im in Colonia etc, they should really add a way to sell modules ourselves, for example selling engineered ones could be very profitable..
@@ggoddkkiller1342 only problem with selling engineered modules is it takes away from the "content" of the game; why would people choose to land on planets to get engineering mats and speak to engineers if they can just go to a carrier 10LS away and buy it there after an hour of LTD mining? The Devs would basically make everything in the horizons expansion retired other than engineered modules
@@yann9915 So you are basicly saying credit farming is a lot easier than engineering but this also means engineered modules would be extremely expensive as nobody would sell them as cheap as ''1 hour LTD mining'' simply because they would spend a lot more time to engineer another one!! Therefore they will just become a luxury that if anybody doesn't want engineering could buy them with a lot credits and if we consider some modules cost +200 million we can safely assume engineered ones will have price tags of billions so nothing will be retired at all..
The possibilities are immense! DSSA is definitely a grand example of what can be done with carriers, but seeing everything else that everyone is up to is just insane! There was even chat (I don't think it was serious, but I pledged my name either way lol) in a FleetComm channel about starting up a Fleet Carrier fuel ratting service following a hull seal rescue involving carriers. As a miner, loving the capability to just run a mining map for 20 minutes, deposit what I mined on board my carrier, and then calling it a night. I haven't sold once since carriers dropped lol! Thanks for the recap, it's hard to keep up with everything right now since literally everyone is talking about carriers and odyssey. So thanks for keeping up with things, so I don't have to :P o7!
We have 17 in Squadron now. We've even had to start an entire section just for the operations of any that carry the 12th name. It's amazing the use they get! PS: Great video!
Been a Carrier owner for a little over a week, and yes, I can't imagine playing the game without it. Parked my Carrier in a known mining hotspot (which surprisingly had an FC slot), and just waited for a good price to sell. Did some other things for a few days before selling the Platinum and I just added another 1 year worth of upkeep. Now it's jumping around doing combat BGS and Power Play bringing my entire fleet with it.
I also cannot see myself going back to times before Carriers... it is SO handy for SO MANY stuff you do in the game... jeez... Ever since I got my carrier fitted and with a nice reserve of fuel my fleet evolved in this little timeframe in a way that would be otherwise impossible. Great vid, Buur o7
Several of my ships can be even further specialized for the role because they don’t need to worry about long range travel. I’m getting rid of fuel scoops, I’m getting rid of guardian boost modules, Getting rid of extra fuel tanks, it’s making my ships more efficient and putting the burden of travel on my carrier.
@@cetifoxproductions I had my doubts and knowing FDev as I know I waited until it was officially launched to use it myself. As you get full refund now it was a rather easy decision and I can attest that this is, indeed, a very useful asset. I have friends who are miners, bounty hunters, pirates and explorers, even anti-xeno combatants and carriers improved all gameplay styles... the community is even putting them to use in the most creative ways possible. Those who still say they are useless must first own one and use it, get their own opinions about it (dont forget the way u play in live is very different than the way u play during a beta period). Now about the price... sorry but the power a carrier gives to the owner totally justifies it and I even dare to say it is cheap. If you don't have the credits (which nowadays are so easy to acquire and I am even excluding mining) or if you are SURE you can't cover the upkeep then this asset probably is not for your style.
I'd **LOVE** for you to do a follow-up on this, now that Fleet Carriers have been around a while, and at least SOME of the problems have been sorted out. A LOT has changed since this video was made.
Very nice video! I've already used my own carrier and also from others for some of mentioned activities and it makes play much more efficient and smooth.
The community aspect of carriers has been unexpectedly good. I've already used my carrier to taxi other CMDR's between the LTD3 and sell systems. I was going between those places anyway, so being able to help other CMDR's at no cost to myself has been brilliant. I've also used mine for events with squadron members, and the newest thing I've started doing is opening up commodity storage to friends, by letting them sell LTD's at 2,000 credits per tonne to my carrier so the commodities are instantly transferred to storage, and then selling them back at minimum price while docking access is restricted, so my friends can store big hauls of LTD's and then sell them in one go.
Went out mining the other day with a fellow squad member. (Was really just trying to pay off the new Cutter! LOL). CMDR Sniperman672 was in a nearby system, and told us we had 4 minutes till pad lockdown. He was headed to the best sell system. Boost, Boost, Boost till we broke mass lock of the rings, jumped in and targeted his carrier. Dropping in on the E.A.F.C. Daedalus, I had 1 minute till pad lockdown, so of course I boost (Doesn't everyone!). Well... since the Cutter is terrible at slowing down, I blew the landing! Did a couple of maneuvers, come back the wrong way and upside down (to the pad orientation that is), and managed to flip that big bird on to the pad with 6 seconds to spare! That was some exciting gameplay! I honestly thought I was going to miss the boat! After selling our goods we all got dividends since we were in a wing together, and we headed back to our little region of space, where he parked his FC outside of a CZ in a system with only small/medium landing pads. And it was then that I saw the value of the Fleet Carrier. Not just as a taxi to ferry folks back and forth, cause I could have just as easily jumped to these locations myself. But as a new tool, even for those who do not own them, to help and create all sorts of gameplay. And lets face it, things were becoming a little bit... stale. We have seen our faction come back together more now too. Players who have been away for a while are now more active. And just look at the Steam numbers. Over 20,000 players on! A new record for the game. And yet again this community amazes me. A new toy gets dropped in to the sandbox, and just look what happens! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and find the stowaways making all that noise in the back of my ships. I seem to be picking up more of them at every station I visit! Stay safe, Commanders. o7 And CMDR Burr, the front of your carrier reminds me very much of the Event Horizon.
And to add, each and every FC I saw has ARX-bought customisations on it. FDEV is making a lot of money and I hope this shows that the players are ready to pay for new content. FDEV just need to develop it - it's not a waste of time. o7
Thank you for your videos, I always look forward to them. Still riding the fence on getting a carrier.....my only reason for getting one was the conflict zones in systems without large landing pads, but with so many carriers out there (more than I expected) I may just use ones already out there.

i' ve been stroling the internet for quite some time now to find anyone that managed to get some use out of an FC. You are the first that even tries to get out some valid points and you do. Although i have to say that this video, in my oppinion is the equivalent of being told how good a paperweight it is if you asked someone why he bought himself a gold ingot. Sitting at over 12 billion, so i could easily afford an FC. But i still dont see the point.
I have mine parked in the middle of nowhere mining anything and everything and trying to do some mining research. Another squad-mate buys what I've collected and goes and sells. It's been great.
Fantastic content as always sir. My Fleet carrier is parked half way across Norma Expanse enjoying a bit of chilled exploration as I make my way across the galaxy. 5 Billion in the FC wallet so no worries about finances at the moment. I'm also carrying my sons ship to the core as hes never left the bubble.
These things still need some work (More info on the galaxy map etc.). They are definitely facilitating new gameplay right now, which is a big win in my opinion.
It wasn't until interacting with carriers in the live game did I realize how useful they can and will be. I like the fact of now having a home base and some storage. I'm actually going to get my alt account player that is 4000ly away since I got bored with jumping to Colonia.

Although no one in our Sqaudron has the funds to buy an FC outright we are clubbing together to get one. An opposing player faction has parked one in our home system and it's making me nervous.
i agree burr, i used the carrier in the beta for about a hour, no point in expending much time on something with no meaning in live, now that i have i couldnt be without it. it will grow and become more handy as time passes.
Great video Cmdr Buur and as always informative and to the point. Absolutely agree with you FC has made a real difference to the game especially for BGS. Agricultural goods from bubble for me is a 400Ly round trip! With a FC storing the goods required cuts it down to maybe couple of jumps there and back, job done. Rinse and repeat as required. Perfect for committed cmdr to own one.. Not so for other cmdr those with little times to invest. Little time equal moneys the grinding for none mining cmdr is though balance was needed first for this game.. But am glad that so many cmdr got a used for it anyway.hope they can keep it up running.
I don’t have a carrier but I know a great use would be creating a route for refueling to Colonia or other far places, after traveling on a 2,000 light year trip and getting lucky enough to to find one before leaving the bubble I think it would help with getting people in lesser ships farther
Hello, I am from the future. That is so much of a thing now that Frontier put a connecting bridge of Megaships and Space Stations between Alcor and Colonia to facilitate it.
funding the carrier isn't that big a problem for me, but i just don't like the upkeep and forced decommissioning mechanic built into the darn thing. As such even the usefulness mentioned in this video isn't enough to sway me into putting up with those mechanics. I am playing way too infrequently for that to be reasonable - and having that nagging worry in the back of my head of my carrier being gone already is not a pleasant proposition to me.
Ranek Eisenkralle that’s my problem, I would love one, and for all the reasons me here, but I’m too casual a player for the threat of decommissioning to be reasonable (for me). I completely accept the “well then don’t get one” and that there’s plenty of other players who REALLY play the game that’ll truly enjoy them
Just think, we are only a few weeks in to FC release and all these great things are happening. It's amazing to think what the future will bring and I think we have just barely scratched the surface of their potential.
I may be a few weeks late, and I know I'm not the only one to do this, but I plan on taking my own Carrier out to Colonia this weekend. Mainly for two people, both for the engineers, and for anyone else that wants to tag along, with myself going to be mapping the systems we stop in. Generally underwhelming, but a pretty good community tool.
I'd like a small installation or settlement somewhere, sort of like the ones you come across in the middle of nowhere with defence turrets on them and an exclusion zone.
Yeah was almost out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. Came across this carrier in the middle of nowhere thankfully used it to refuel and an exploration base for a few weeks never saw the owner but lucky hey.
Although I like the ideas of a carrier I do think it could be more fun if you could simply stash a small ship into the hangar bay of a large ship, thus allowing you to take advantage of a large ship while still having the flexibility of a small ship. And without upkeep costs! The gap between buying & using a large ship and a fleet carrier seems a bit wide to me.
I love my FC, the Pandora. Although I would like to get it more involved with helping out the community. I am struggling to find information on what others are doing with their FC's. What a buzz Elite is right now, just imagine what it's going to be like when space feet drops.

I own around 52 ships. I have every ship in the game (exept the cobra 4, obviously), all of them engineered to the brim. I live for the grind. But as long as fleetcarriers do have upkeep, I will not even TRY to assemble the money for it.

@@TheBuurPit Yes the upkeep is small but thats the issue you do not own the carrier u are renting it cos every week u still need to play the game to give the 5mil up keep. Not everyone wants to keep playing the game all the time but with the FC added thats who there intended for the players that play every single day.

I didn't participate in the Beta, as I was on the other side of the galaxy at the time. I have Horizons, and can't locate any fleet carriers on the galaxy map, even with the fleet carrier markers selected. How do I find one to sample the services onboard one?

Im one of those that have returned but alas the same issue I had with it when I left I still have with it today. most of the space is empty there is little to no reason to go outside the bubble unless you go on a guided tour (follow someones guide). So there is nothing to really discover. but I am giving it about a month. maybe something else will pique my interest.
How does one usually find a squadron? I've got about a billion in the bank, unlocking engineers, a conda/python/cobra and am interested in finding a community, and possibly combat
You can search and filter in the right hand panel for squadrons by activities and whether they're PvP, PvE, Empire, Federation etc etc. But personally I'd be inclined to find a community discord in the game that fits you personally and then join their squadron. Sadly right now squadrons are locked to the platform that you're playing on so that can be an important consideration. Our discord is linked in the description, of you jump on there and say hi we can put you in the right direction (or you can even join our squadron if you're on PC and our playstyle fits you).
I'm currently sitting at 500mil of credits and still no fleet carrier, hope I'll get mine soon. What should I name it though, recommendations would be nice, although if I had million credits for each Galactica I've seen I'd have my carrier twice over
I keep thinking, it could be useful as a Deep (really deep) Space Exploration Ship, aka: "D.S.E. --- name?--- " Mothership (consisting of "Prospector" craft, "Survey" ships (with Diplomatic Corps?), "Escort" (Security) craft, "Tenders" (cargo/passenger transport, refuel, repair, etc...) and "Supply" ships (rendezvous / dock, no hanger). ;-) This kind of gameplay could be interesting (profitable?) for an Org, if managed well?
how do the rare commodities work with carrier? could you have a bunch of pilot's buy a bunch and sell to carrier then carrier travels 20k ly away and try and sell at max profit range?
On ps4 the deluxe edition of elite is only 13 bucks Canadian. Could Frontier be making the game deliberately cheap after a patch to inflate their player count numbers and make it look like their patches are more well-received ? Is it the carriers bringing the people or the current price tag of the game ?

Brace yourself. You can join a fleet carrier on Xbox right now. Odyssey is an entirely different expansion coming on all platforms in early 2021. Squadron wise look in the right hand panel in your ship and filter the squadrons by your preference.

I'm glad to see so many people enjoying their carriers, however, for me it's a hard pass. 5B credit security deposit to rent "your" fleet carrier that can be taken away in less time than most utility companies shut off their services. I'm really disappointed with the carriers and I'm going to be playing something else until the next update.

Material Traders: No you can't, but those guys are everywhere anyway. Join ...the Squadron, player minor faction etc. I assume? Jump on the Discord, linked in the video description and we can guide you from there :)

I love bounty hunting and before carriers I could only take one ship to where I wanted to go now I can take them all and also go far out but I would like to see the upkeep cost taken away I really don't like it
I dislike how they bloat the star map. Wish there would be a placeholder on the systemmap that could be expanded if one wishes to check system carriers instead of how its now where all carriers show in the systemmap and on the left panel

This isn’t related to the carriers but I’ve been struggling with this for a while. Can anyone help me on using the full spectrum scanner and detailed surface scanner on PS4? Everywhere says I need to bind a button to activate the FSS but I can’t find the activate option under the fss in the controls. Is there another way on PS4 that I don’t know about? Update: I found the bind “enter FSS” under model switches. Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner but that Elite Dangerous for you. Thanks for the help :)

i' ve been stroling the internet for quite some time now to find anyone that managed to get some use out of an FC.
You are the first that even tries to get out some valid points and you do.
Although i have to say that this video, in my oppinion is the equivalent of being told how good a paperweight it is if you asked someone why he bought himself a gold ingot.
Sitting at over 12 billion, so i could easily afford an FC. But i still dont see the point.
I have mine parked in the middle of nowhere mining anything and everything and trying to do some mining research. Another squad-mate buys what I've collected and goes and sells. It's been great.
Fantastic content as always sir. My Fleet carrier is parked half way across Norma Expanse enjoying a bit of chilled exploration as I make my way across the galaxy. 5 Billion in the FC wallet so no worries about finances at the moment. I'm also carrying my sons ship to the core as hes never left the bubble.

These things still need some work (More info on the galaxy map etc.). They are definitely facilitating new gameplay right now, which is a big win in my opinion.
It wasn't until interacting with carriers in the live game did I realize how useful they can and will be. I like the fact of now having a home base and some storage. I'm actually going to get my alt account player that is 4000ly away since I got bored with jumping to Colonia.

Nice to see a video about FCs that isn't just cheap shot jokes (Yamiks we are looking at you).
Although no one in our Sqaudron has the funds to buy an FC outright we are clubbing together to get one.
An opposing player faction has parked one in our home system and it's making me nervous.
So refreshing to hear someone highlighting the good stuff with the FC's and not just complaining like all the others.
i agree burr, i used the carrier in the beta for about a hour, no point in expending much time on something with no meaning in live, now that i have i couldnt be without it. it will grow and become more handy as time passes.

Absolutely agree with you FC has made a real difference to the game especially for BGS. Agricultural goods from bubble for me is a 400Ly round trip! With a FC storing the goods required cuts it down to maybe couple of jumps there and back, job done. Rinse and repeat as required. Look forward to your next video. Thank you 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Perfect for committed cmdr to own one.. Not so for other cmdr those with little times to invest. Little time equal moneys the grinding for none mining cmdr is though balance was needed first for this game.. But am glad that so many cmdr got a used for it anyway.hope they can keep it up running.
I don’t have a carrier but I know a great use would be creating a route for refueling to Colonia or other far places, after traveling on a 2,000 light year trip and getting lucky enough to to find one before leaving the bubble I think it would help with getting people in lesser ships farther
Hello, I am from the future. That is so much of a thing now that Frontier put a connecting bridge of Megaships and Space Stations between Alcor and Colonia to facilitate it.
Touch and goes are so convenient, I started missing them with L-Weight vessels
funding the carrier isn't that big a problem for me, but i just don't like the upkeep and forced decommissioning mechanic built into the darn thing. As such even the usefulness mentioned in this video isn't enough to sway me into putting up with those mechanics. I am playing way too infrequently for that to be reasonable - and having that nagging worry in the back of my head of my carrier being gone already is not a pleasant proposition to me.
Ranek Eisenkralle that’s my problem, I would love one, and for all the reasons me here, but I’m too casual a player for the threat of decommissioning to be reasonable (for me). I completely accept the “well then don’t get one” and that there’s plenty of other players who REALLY play the game that’ll truly enjoy them
The only thing I can say about my fleet carrier is, how can I play elite dangerous without one? Fleet carriers are awesome.!
As far as I can tell, they're a credit sink that requires constant upkeep with services I can get at a nearby station without tarrifs,
There is a flat earth sense in those cmdr cheering with that deep pit cash it bang my head on the wall
Just think, we are only a few weeks in to FC release and all these great things are happening. It's amazing to think what the future will bring and I think we have just barely scratched the surface of their potential.
I may be a few weeks late, and I know I'm not the only one to do this, but I plan on taking my own Carrier out to Colonia this weekend. Mainly for two people, both for the engineers, and for anyone else that wants to tag along, with myself going to be mapping the systems we stop in.
Generally underwhelming, but a pretty good community tool.

Yeah was almost out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. Came across this carrier in the middle of nowhere thankfully used it to refuel and an exploration base for a few weeks never saw the owner but lucky hey.

Although I like the ideas of a carrier I do think it could be more fun if you could simply stash a small ship into the hangar bay of a large ship, thus allowing you to take advantage of a large ship while still having the flexibility of a small ship. And without upkeep costs! The gap between buying & using a large ship and a fleet carrier seems a bit wide to me.

Well they did build the roads....
They made us wait in earnest in the hope that 1 day it would come to fruition. And after was it 2yrs (??) finally arrived!
I'm usually exploring, but I also like pve. Now I can head out and get back quickly when I get the urge to pew pew.
I love my FC, the Pandora. Although I would like to get it more involved with helping out the community. I am struggling to find information on what others are doing with their FC's. What a buzz Elite is right now, just imagine what it's going to be like when space feet drops.

I own around 52 ships. I have every ship in the game (exept the cobra 4, obviously), all of them engineered to the brim. I live for the grind. But as long as fleetcarriers do have upkeep, I will not even TRY to assemble the money for it.

I can certainly see the appeal of Carrier's. I still will not be picking one up as long as they have an upkeep cost.
upkeep is peanuts money, outfitting them is more painfull friend
Once you can afford a carrier the upkeep is literally a trivial matter.
@@TheBuurPit Yes the upkeep is small but thats the issue you do not own the carrier u are renting it cos every week u still need to play the game to give the 5mil up keep. Not everyone wants to keep playing the game all the time but with the FC added thats who there intended for the players that play every single day.
Where can I get a sightseeing tour to Barnyard's Loop? I tried to get there once but went above the off-limits sectors and went a very long way before realising I couldn't get down.
I didn't participate in the Beta, as I was on the other side of the galaxy at the time. I have Horizons, and can't locate any fleet carriers on the galaxy map, even with the fleet carrier markers selected. How do I find one to sample the services onboard one?

Im one of those that have returned but alas the same issue I had with it when I left I still have with it today. most of the space is empty there is little to no reason to go outside the bubble unless you go on a guided tour (follow someones guide). So there is nothing to really discover. but I am giving it about a month. maybe something else will pique my interest.

Is there an interstellar factor service available on FC's? I'd make great use of a commanders FC if so..but I have yet to see one with one available
There is not.
How does one usually find a squadron? I've got about a billion in the bank, unlocking engineers, a conda/python/cobra and am interested in finding a community, and possibly combat
You can search and filter in the right hand panel for squadrons by activities and whether they're PvP, PvE, Empire, Federation etc etc. But personally I'd be inclined to find a community discord in the game that fits you personally and then join their squadron.
Sadly right now squadrons are locked to the platform that you're playing on so that can be an important consideration. Our discord is linked in the description, of you jump on there and say hi we can put you in the right direction (or you can even join our squadron if you're on PC and our playstyle fits you).
I almost got stuck I'm the bubble in an eagle but a fleet carrier stationed there saved me with fuel.

I'm currently sitting at 500mil of credits and still no fleet carrier, hope I'll get mine soon. What should I name it though, recommendations would be nice, although if I had million credits for each Galactica I've seen I'd have my carrier twice over
I keep thinking, it could be useful as a Deep (really deep) Space Exploration Ship, aka: "D.S.E. --- name?--- " Mothership (consisting of "Prospector" craft, "Survey" ships (with Diplomatic Corps?), "Escort" (Security) craft, "Tenders" (cargo/passenger transport, refuel, repair, etc...) and "Supply" ships (rendezvous / dock, no hanger). ;-)

how do the rare commodities work with carrier? could you have a bunch of pilot's buy a bunch and sell to carrier then carrier travels 20k ly away and try and sell at max profit range?
I've not tested it but I don't think you can you load them into the carriers hold.

Not yet. Odyssey expansion coming next year it's hoped will add some of that stuff.
On ps4 the deluxe edition of elite is only 13 bucks Canadian.
Could Frontier be making the game deliberately cheap after a patch to inflate their player count numbers and make it look like their patches are more well-received ?

Elite is on sale multiple times a year. It's never seen a spike like this before. I'm sure a sale helps but it's not the whole story.

AFAIK they have to sell other items to you, to add them to your cargo.

Brace yourself. You can join a fleet carrier on Xbox right now. Odyssey is an entirely different expansion coming on all platforms in early 2021. Squadron wise look in the right hand panel in your ship and filter the squadrons by your preference.

Also hooking into a solid community in general is a good idea as well (I think you just joined our discord?) The #BPMC guys spend 99% of their time mining HUGE quantities of ore and are out most evenings.
I'm glad to see so many people enjoying their carriers, however, for me it's a hard pass. 5B credit security deposit to rent "your" fleet carrier that can be taken away in less time than most utility companies shut off their services. I'm really disappointed with the carriers and I'm going to be playing something else until the next update.

Material Traders: No you can't, but those guys are everywhere anyway.

As a solo player who enjoys combat, I find no need for a carrier. I play sporadically too so upkeep seems annoying. I wish I had a reason to get one.

My only issue with carriers is that the only way to realistically pay for their upkeep is mining.
I love bounty hunting and before carriers I could only take one ship to where I wanted to go now I can take them all and also go far out but I would like to see the upkeep cost taken away I really don't like it

I dislike how they bloat the star map. Wish there would be a placeholder on the systemmap that could be expanded if one wishes to check system carriers instead of how its now where all carriers show in the systemmap and on the left panel

Really depends what platform you're on. It is however frequently on sale... its worth hanging around for that.

This isn’t related to the carriers but I’ve been struggling with this for a while. Can anyone help me on using the full spectrum scanner and detailed surface scanner on PS4? Everywhere says I need to bind a button to activate the FSS but I can’t find the activate option under the fss in the controls. Is there another way on PS4 that I don’t know about?
Update: I found the bind “enter FSS” under model switches. Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner but that Elite Dangerous for you. Thanks for the help :)
