I read Alcohol Explained in 2017 when investigating its effects on sleep and spontaneously quit. Seven years have passed already and, like they say in this interview, why would I ever go back?. Great to hear William's insights as fresh as ever and Andy does a great job. Looking forward to the next one!
i am the definitive "middle lane" drinker you describe. I was already there with ending the madness based on your book and the rich roll podcasts, but this one is the final nail in my alcohol coffin. thank you for the work you do andy!
That was a really good talk. It was lovely to hear more about William's life. And what a life! Such an interesting and inspirational chap. I'm sure his books and talks have changed many lives!!🎉
As a GP in Australia, alcohol use would be one of the first things I would ask about. The other thing is that doctors are not immune from alcohol use disorder, so thank you very much for this discussion, it is so very useful. We sometimes also forget the link between alcohol and breast cancer, orophayngeal and oesophageal cancer and so many other things. So many adverse effects of alcohol!
Today with social media I'm sure the knowledge is getting out there, but still massive advertising on alcohol is everywhere lol great podcast ,cheers ☕
The promotion of red wine being good has got people who weren't heavy drinkers to be nightly drinkers and possibly leading to alcohol abuse. They don't realize that they're inducing poison in their bodies.
My friend said to me well...if you come i , know your not drinking .. commen made me feel like i m diseased..Good Lord trying to save what's left of my body
THANK YOU SO MUCH - William Porter your book Alcohol Explained was key to me reaching 9 years FREE on March 9 2024!!! So grateful!
That is wonderful, congratulations!❤
Oh wow! I started my alcohol free journey on this date. It’s my birthday. Congrats on your feat! Super inspiring

How do we get this taught in middle and high schools? I have learned a ton about this this year. Thank you both!
2/5/84 using the 12 step model.❤️❤️
But Ramage is monetising it
Because alcohol is the only the socially acceptable drug you're almost seen as anti social if you don't drink.

Follow the money. The big alcohol companies don’t want people to get educated.
A glass of red wine is good for you is always sponsored by the alcohol industry if you look in the small print
I disagree that people are unaware of the dangers of alcohol, they are not stupid but just ignorant.
Sounds like a Puffter..
DId you and Ruari break up?
Mmm....toxic bacterial waste. Sounds delicious.... NOT! That must be why alcohol tastes so incredibly gross.
AE is essential reading for anyone who wants to give up the piss.
I couldn't agree more. Had more impact than Alan Carrs Easyway for me, though that was quite good.
