As a reader of weird fiction in the 21st century, you operate under the assumption that you'll never hear your favorite authors speak, or see them move about on video, that they lived just too long ago and weren't well known enough for their voices and images to be preserved this way. And yet, here's one of the very best, visible and audible as clearly as day. Simply incredible that this exists. Thank you for sharing.

If you like the works of Clark Ashton Smith, there are a few recordings of him reading some of the poems he wrote. The one I can remember is "Desert Dweller", but there are others. They do not have the best quality, but it's incredible to hear his voice.

@Mr Davros There is a short clip of Arthur Machen talking on BBC radio on here. Sadly, no known recordings of Lovecraft though.

@mrdavros8908 Yeah, that's the one. It's super short but interesting.

Grand. What a gift to hear a brilliant story from the lips of one of my favorite authors.

Isn't it a wonder, with all the cifi and green and blue screen effects, you come across a story teller like Algernon, and it's more interesting and entertaining. Please show more.
    Many thanks

A wonderful experience for an aficionado of the ghost story genre to see one of its great masters on film. A shame that an equivalent recording was never made of MR James.

Crazy that we have video of Algernon Blackwood, but not younger weird fiction writers like H.P. Lovecraft. This is truly incredible to see.

I jsut speak for myself but reading Lovecraft is too dull already. hearing him reading his .. stuff .. would be too much. Lovecraft is as much overrated as much underrated Blackwood and James are.

One of the grand masters of supernatural horror, along with Arthur Machen, Walter De La Mare, Gustav Meyrink, Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
