Okay, 2 things: 1. For S7 NO WAY is Salvatore going home here. Jamie literally left a toothpick in her dish and was much more forgettable than Sal. Easy pick for me 2. Robyn wasn't THAT bad in All Stars, come on
Dude she should have gone as early as Giovanni or even Jared. And arguably she should have gone over Ashley along with Manda, who was useless this season
@AlessandroChiarelli okay, maybe I said it wrong, she was objectively weak this season. I was moreso referring to Flynn talking about "Robyn's antics" which... there weren't that many this season tbh, she was more fun than toxic
8:58 “And we wouldn’t have to deal with Robyn’s antics this season.” I know you’re not a fan of her, but I think many HK fans would agree that Robyn’s character this season was a significant improvement compared to Season 10. She was practically the narrator of the season at times, and she was a lot funnier and less angry than last time. Even in the two instances she got into it with someone, Elise and (of all people) Milly, she was kinda shown to be in the right with how they were acting in comparison. So I do think the season would suffer a bit if Robyn was the first to go based on her signature dish. She’s arguably up there with Jerri Manthey, Roxxxy Andrews, and Ra’Jah O’Hara in terms of reality TV villains whose personalities improved on their return seasons.
I think the hate on Robyn from Flynn has always been completely blown out of proportion. I can understand her Season 10 antics not being looked at upon favourably, but Season 17 to me showed she could show improvement, and was far from the worst character that season. I get the impression that Flynn watched the season one time and hasn't re-assessed, going off of memories from her in Season 10 moreso.
I can already say, considering Antonia got med-evac’d in the same episode as her infamous signature dish, AND her dish was the losing tie-breaker, it kinda was an elimination challenge for her.
S23 seasons in the making and people still don’t realize that Gordon doesn’t like prepackaged food! It would be interesting to see a ranking of all the chefs who got eliminated before the black jackets!
@@JulianSteinbach Lulu also got somewhat robbed since despite her staying over Kyle on his first time up, but Brittany or Anne-Marie from the red team should have been eliminated there.
I’m kind of with Gordon on that, considering it’s what you’re going to call your “signature dish”, especially if the packaged food is already packed full of sugar/salt and throws off the flavor of the dish.
I haven't been commenting as much as I used to, but great idea for a video. However, I gotta contest Season 7. Sal may have used pre-made pasta, but at least his dish wouldn't have hurt anyone. Unlike *Jamie* who left a toothpick in her dish, so Ramsay didn't even taste it. That's my perspective at least.
Haven't watched completely yet but my god, Antonia would be eliminated probably as soon as Ramsay tasted her dish in this timeline. Not only does it look like mud, but it tasted so foul, Ramsay gave it to the other contestants to taste how terrible it was!
the issue with Ramsay is he BLATANTLY said it was inedible and EVEN THREW IT UP!! So I question him getting others to taste it despite their stomachs being stronger. There is still absolutely no excuse for Antonia. Worst dish ever
Idea: if you were to swap out one black jacket chef with another one, who would it be? Example: - Amber with Nikki (S19) - Robyn with Brian (S10) - Heather with Kanae (S18) - Matt with Louross (S4)
I'm surprised he likes her that much, to me she's probably the most forgettable red team memebrs of season 6. Even Lovely had her moments, but Amanda have nothing after her signature dish.
Thank you for throwing a little bit of editing in on this one, I love the free flow of these videos but I do prefer a little bit of audio cleanup and pictures to remind me who everyone is while watching!
I remember Carol Ann from season 1 actually having a really solid signature dish. Despite that she was the first boot that season and also the other chefs including the legendary winner and runner up duo Michael and Ralph didn’t have the best signature dishes either.
Ooh a lot of early winners or black jackets would be so screwed if Ramsey judged and eliminated the Contestants based on signature dishes lol (Rock cough cough)
When you audition for HK, the casting agents ask for you to submit 3 recipes for dishes you’d potentially make for your signature dish. If you make it on the show, the producers end up picking either the wackiest of your 3 recipes or the one that would be the hardest to pull off in 45 minutes. That’s why if you submit a recipe for risotto, they’re definitely gonna pick that to be your signature dish because it is very difficult to pull that off in 45 minutes.
I have to disagree with you on Salvatore. As mediocre as his dish was, I think Jamie would've been booted out on the spot because of the whole toothpick incident.
i’m convinced you made this video just so you could fantasise about an all stars season without robyn lol also wouldn’t tayvon being eliminated prior to the opening night service possibly result in christina’s elimination? if ramsay chose to do two eliminations that day, which is fairly likely considering how bad the service was, the red team may have lost over the blue team without tayvon there, meaning christina would have likely been up for elimination.
Here’s mine 1. Chris 2. Polly 3. Rock 4. Matt 5. Seth 6. Louie 7. Jamie 8. Antonia 9. Jonathan 10. Tavon 11. Susan 12. Mike 13. JP 14. Megan… JK Monique 15. Kevin 16. Kimberly 17. Robyn 18. Scott 19. Kenneth 20. Jay 21. Nicole 22. Dahmere 23. Amber
If this had happened in the first place, I think it could have realistically changed seasons 2-6, at least in terms of early predictions with how each chef could perform. If the contestants knew ahead of time that they were at risk of being booted for a terrible signature dish, they would have spent significantly more time trying to get it right so that they could clear the first hurdle. Yes, many chefs were way too cocky with their performances, and could have still had terrible dishes, but remember that there were no real consequences until season 6, when it actually became a challenge between teams. And since the season 6 cast wouldn’t know ahead of time it would be a team challenge, they wouldn’t be prepared; you could even argue that the season 7 cast might not adequately prepare if they didn’t think this trend would continue. The first 3 seasons had maybe 2 or 3 legitimately good signature dishes each time, seasons 4 and 5 amped that up a bit and would give at least 5 good dishes, but it wasn’t until the show kept progressing that the dishes consistently got better, because they started to realize how important this first impression was. Knowing from the pilot episode that a bad dish could get you eliminated on the spot would severely alter everybody’s pre-season prep time.
I feel like you should have discussed more possible options as honestly I don't think Rock would have been eliminated. Yes he used premade gnocchi but his dish was actually decent. I could see Vinny or a handful of others going home for having the worst dish. I feel like you based your picks on assumptions that not everyone has or would follow along with you on.
@@luuduonghy659 I agree. BUT I think that premade and bad is worse than premade and good. Unless he showed all 12 dishes (of which I remember some being really bad) I don't think that Rock's decent but partially premade dish is automatically the worst, especially at Season 3. My point is that Flynn is drawing conclusions based on logic and opinions that not everyone has.
One of my biggest issues with the show is gordon blanket hating all canned food, particularly tomatoes. I remember him digging into brett for using canned san marzano tomatoes in the soup challenge. Those tomatoes are extremely hard to get a hold of fresh and it's a common thing to use in Italian cooking anyway. It's like gordon and the judges expected him to get on a flight to italy, pick some fresh ones, fly back and make his dish in 45 minutes
are you being serious? they provide an incredible selection of fresh ingredients, of course gordon expects the chefs to use them. they don’t have to fly anywhere, they have plenty to choose from. the pre-packaged stuff is put there specifically to catch lazy chefs out. this is such a bizarre argument
I disagree with Season 7, as bad as Salvatore's packaged pasta signature dish is, Jamie having a toothpick is way worse as Ramsay didn't taste her dish.
For me, I think in Season 9 if the Signature Dish challenge was an Elimination Round, Carrie would be my obvious pick for one reason, she put sugar in her mashed potatoes which was a gross move on her part, seriously who puts sugar in mashed potatoes, butter or milk would have been the better option, so if she was the first ever boot, it would definitely change Season 9 as we wouldn't see Elise target her in every episode and the Red Team wouldn't have to deal with the arguments that would come between Elise and Carrie since in that alternate reality, Carrie would have been eliminated during that challenge
Have to disagree with Dahmare. I never thought he was a true leader because he only shined when the team was down. Ryan and Johnathan were steady as can be, probably a top 3 finals duo with Kevin and Dave, as well as Will and Paul. Great chef, as it showed, nothing to take away from him, but something just never say right with me as it did Ryan and Johnathan, and even Sami for that matter
Monique would have got booted not because of pre-made jam but because she used sauce from a jar which we all know is disgusting we can claim we like it but we settle for it lol
I think from Season 6 onwards, you should have chosen the worst dish from the losing team, as I don't think it would make too much sense to eliminate anyone from the winning team, regardless of Gordon Ramsey's threats to eliminate them on the spot. However, you can make exceptions to any losing team that failed to produce a single bad signature dish and instead state that absolutely no one should go home.
I think there is some Rock bias. I'm sure Rock wasn't the first person to use pre made food, juat the first to be called out on it. I think because Vinny's dish was bad and he had an attitude, Ramsay would eliminate him because he hates people who thinks aren't there to learn.
What if the other finalist chef got first pick for their final brigade? Obviously not every finale will change dramatically in this scenario, and i imagine quite a few end up being picked exactly the same as in the real timeline, but theres definitely a few where having the first pick gave the winner the edge.
i don’t think brigades make a huge difference. gordon is looking for leadership skills, and that includes dealing with shitty teams. there are plenty of finalists who have had bad brigades but have still won because they showed they could handle the conflict (e.g. paul having elise and carrie on his team in s9). and vice versa, there have been people who had great brigades or at least certain great chefs and still lost because they couldn’t lead.
5:52 Well arguably no, HK history wouldn’t have remained the same if Teyvon was eliminated hypothetically after his signature dish, because assuming the first service goes exactly the same, the red team loses and then Christina could have potentially gone home first. So even if his ranking doesn’t change, if everything else remains the same, red team likely loses service because Teyvon wouldn’t have fucked all the scallops and then either Christina or Roshni leave early.
Latasha, I would put her up there as well because she definitely could've gone from winner to out. Didn't she just grill watermelon, like she could've char grilled a steak or something, but watermelon? Didn't Gordon legit ask her, "Do you want to go home?" So yes, she is definitely among some of the worst signature dishes, especially among winners.
All the Christina haters in the comments once again saying she goes home if Red Team loses the first service when it was very obviously going to be Roshni who was sent home first
If rock went home after this challenge in season 3 imagine the changes. A Julia vs Bonnie final as much as I want Julia to win I think Bonnie would win.
Bonnie should have never been in the finals, heck she shouldn't have even been a Black Jacket arguably and should have gone over Brad. Julia would have won here against Jen in the finals
I disagree on season 7. I'd argue Jamie would be the first boot because she legit left a toothpick on the dish
Yeah using a pre-made food is not as much of a cardinal sin as leaving a toothpick or something similar in the dish.
I agree, using pre-made food is one thing, having a foreign object that can seriously harm someone is something completely different
You raise a "Robyn being gone means a more talented Black Jacket crew" and I call with "Elise becomes a Black Jacket Twice"
And what a nightmare that would be, especially with how much more obnoxious Elise was in Season 17. 😔
Elise still would have gone home in 17 (CFYL) as her dish was deemed worse than Jennifer's.
