    Awe, I'm sorry I missed the live. I really enjoy being able to chat with people in the comments live. I still really enjoyed the video and learned some new things, so thank you! I'm a new subscriber and also a new artist and studying at the University of TH-cam! Lol Also, I'm watching from Northern Alberta where tonight it's -40, and tomorrow's high is supposed warm all the way up to -25. But at least we get some spectacular views of the Northern Lights. Something I hope to capture on canvas in time! Lol 💕

    You can stumble gouache over watercolour, as gouache is opaque. I’ve never tried it this particular way, but as long as the watercolour is set, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

    Is this really scumbling? I think of scumbling qs being dry brush over a texture. Not rubbed over. This seems more like a dry glaze.

    Actually, the value scale goes from white (10) to black (1). So high key is very light values, ergo high numbers, 10, 9,8. Middle key are 4,5,6. And low key is low values like 1,2,3, etc.

    absolutely not archival to paint straight on aluminum panel. it's relatively new material and not enough data to prove that it will survive years and years. The company that produces these panels probably sent Mary samples for promotion. Please educate yourself before giving bad advice. Otherwise, nice painting and thank you for sharing your creative process.

    • @patrickcharles7190
      @patrickcharles7190 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The aluminum panel is a non-corrosive material that resists decomposition due to moisture exposure...according to ASTM International. She's probably using common sense.

  • @sashas5844
    @sashas5844 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    no professional restorer would be able to restore a painting if you start varnishing it in between layers, that's the most idiotic idea ever. Before selling your paintings, please read MITRA materials from the University of Delaware restoration Department and use correct archival methods in your paintings. If you ignore the basic rules, you just don't care about your art collectors and their investment in your work.
