Just got home from some Waffle House with a girl I’ve been flirting with. Thought the greatness of the night was over but just saw this and now my stoke levels are through the roof
The four minds in this room are a collective oracle of movie recommendations. Better than any "Top 50 action films" list by any movie media establishment. You are the leaders of Stokeville, and I respect you as human beings. Love you guys. Yours sincerely, Douglas Macleod.
These fellas & the vast knowledge of film. I think it’s different growing up in California as opposed to other places, cinema is so highly promoted in those parts. Just wild the difference in states & upbringings. Good stuff fellas
1. The Matrix - the philosophical and existential questions posed in that movie are relevant now and are becoming more relevant as time goes on. I agree with y’all’s thoughts on how sick the action is as well. 2. Star Wars ep V: Empire Strikes Back - growing up, as soon as I knew how to use a VCR, I was watching IV-VI multiple times a week. It’s def a from-the-heart pick, given the action doesn’t hold up, but at the time of its release it was even more groundbreaking than A New Hope. I was 7 when I saw the Empire re-release in the theater before Phantom Menace came out, and that was incredible. 3. The Incredibles - Idk if it’s appropriate to use this word given it’s an animated film, but the cinematography in the Incredibles is phenomenal, the voice actors are wonderful, the action sequences are so fkin dope. Idk if this was the first Pixar movie to have people die on screen but dudes get merk’d in this flick, some of them by children lol. 4. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - domes getting chopped off, arrows to the face and neck and chest and legs and butt, dwarves getting chucked around, epic practical effects up the wazoo, hobbits smoking pipe-weed. Need I say more? I will; astounding acting, writing, directing, photography. The way the movie was shot to create the illusion of the hobbits being small in certain scenes with wider shots is wild. The level of detail in making the armor and weapons and the makeup for the orcs will hold up as scary as fugg forever IMO. The deep deep philosophy and dorkness is great. It was the universe that chose Peter Jackson to portray the themes and philosophy of Tolkien. I should rank this higher given this appears on my all time movie list as well. It would be the whole trilogy but I gotta follow the Chad and JT deeep rules.
This is epic bros. Man on Fire has to be on there for me. Honorable mentions V for Vendetta and Troy 1) Matrix 2) Gladiator 3) Man on Fire 4) Gangs of New York 5) 300
I've got a couple of qualms with some picks, namely Unforgiven and The Dark Knight, but overall solid draft. I'm kinda bummed Bad Boys 2 went undrafted. Not a great film from a critical perspective but it's undeniably packed with top notch action scenes.
Yeah Ian I think the boys should have stated with defining what an Action film is. Few films slipped in which I wouldn’t consider truly ‘Action’ films. As you say BB2 is the epitome of an ‘action’ film
I believe you guys are some avid literary fanatics... Maybe not the most publicly exciting list, but what are your top three favourite novels? I would really love to hear that. Even if you can only go two each, please give over five minutes of the pod to highlight some good ficticious books for the Stoke Legion to check out. Love you guys x
I can't believe no one threw out demolition man after mentioning the best movie villains of all time. I still think Chad killed it. I would go Inception, dark knight, matrix, tenet, and if unforgiven counts then puppets definitely count, so team america
Can see you’re a Nolan fan and so am I. But when the boys said they were doing a draft for ‘Action Films’, “Inception” didn’t pop into my mind as I don’t associate it as a ‘Action film’. And this is coming from someone who has “Inception” on my top 4 films on Letterboxd
@@solomonchilds8574 agreed, I didn't think about inception until they mentioned it. The only movies I've ever seen twice in theaters were inception, the dark knight, & avatar
Ooooo how’d if forget about “300” great shout dude. Is there that much action in “Independence Day”? This is coming from someone who likes the film and always watches when it’s on tv, but it didn’t spring to my mind as an ‘action film’
Say what you want about the following two prequels….but the fight scene between Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi Wan vs. Darth Maul at the end of Phantom Menace was the coolest shit ever.
Aaron is trippin balls right now, crouching tiger hidden dragon is the best pick artistically & directionally. May not be the first pick but you guys are drunk saying it’s not a stoker
long time stoker here and i mean no hate w this comment. i’m a little confused why y’all are ripping off All Fantasy Everything. i know you guys are having fun with the segment and they didn’t invent fantasy drafting obv but i noticed JT called the draft order game a “riveting game of rock paper scissors” and that’s verbatim ian’s line read. i think you guys need to make some more tweaks to make it your own.
I appreciate the heads up but I’ve never heard of that pod and people also mentioned a barstool pod that they said we were overlapping with I think it’s a very simple concept I don’t think anyone can claim it as their own

Let’s fucking go dude
I’m surprised Strider didn’t choose the wedding planner starring J. Lo
The Action when she got hit by a car, would have been justification enough for ‘Strider the Draft choker’
So am I dude! That's a fire ass movie

That was an epic all time burn by Chad. Holy Hell Strider got scorched lmao
Still roastin
Chris Parr is always a treat
The boys should do a best movies of all time draft no genre limit would be sickkk
Strider would fuck it up and pick a series like sopranos as his movie

“The pencil trick” from the Dark knight is one of the best scenes I’ve ever seen.
8:11 is just another reason to like Strider
Take the hats off chad and JT reveal your commitment to the rain forest

the new four horseman of the chillpocalypse!
Striders next choice of “There will be blood” would have really brought his list together.

Just watched the Netflix series and had to find the episode where you guys revealed the shaved heads for the first time
Doubled up with Stride plus Chris plus new draft?? Dude. Nice.

Thought someone would of went kill Bill or Inglorious bastards. Or atleast one Tarantino movie. Great pod tho boys
The fact that Die Hard fell past round 2 blew my mind, great pick by JT in the 3rd
Dude, right?! Absurd that it wasn’t someone’s first round pick. Absurd.
Surprised there wasn't a Bourne or Kill Bill on any of their lists
Gladiator, Brave heart, The Patriot, The Last Samurai. That's it boys, no one is beating that list, PERIOD
That Unforgiven pick was the wildest thing I’ve ever seen lmao
I was trying to be all clever. major backfire

Tarantino my dudes.
So fire . Keep up the heat boys
I was getting EXTREMELY worried that no one was going to pick raiders
Chad looking tight like Fred Durst
Loved this episode
The haircut was hilarious
The irony that Jeff Bezos has a bald dome is funny to me.

It seems like their criteria was “Great Movies (that also have action)” instead of great action movies
Unforgiven but no Tarantino at all? Kill bill? Pulp fiction? Django? Not even an honorable mention Im shook
I messed up with unforgiven. Tried to be all clever. I shoulda just cleared on out the back.
Chad did have amazing picks
Ong bak 2 definitely should make a list.
JT kinda looks like the Mayor of Who-ville

1. The Bourne Identity // 2. Unleashed // 3. John Wick // 4. Kill Bill
Chad would look good bald honestly
LETS. FUCKING. GOOOOOOOOO
Hard-Boiled.
Predator should have been a first rounder
Is Drive (2011) considered Action?
Also one of the Bourne movies gotta make top 20 boys wyd
Yeah dude, Drive for me would be my ‘car based action film’ in my draft
The Fugitive
Water World, Kill Bill, Escape from Alcatraz, Mortal Kombat (1995), Independence Day and 300
Ooooo how’d if forget about “300” great shout dude.
Is there that much action in “Independence Day”? This is coming from someone who likes the film and always watches when it’s on tv, but it didn’t spring to my mind as an ‘action film’
JT was locked and loaded. I'd quote it all but I don't want to ruin it
also Enemy At The Gates or 300?
Great shouts
Nobody said Transformers 3?? Come on bros, it's definitely in the top 10 pure action movies
Chad wins.
Bruhh unforgiven? Thats unforgivable....how do leave out RAMBO?
What ep was the actor draft?
Lets go deep morbid condensation
Chad not going with a fast n furious movie with a top draft pick disappoints me
Chad would look amazing with a shaved head. The bros need to finish the job
I’m an hour in...no Predator? Edit: JT mentions at 1:13:00
Thought strider would pick troy.
He’s always dropping them ‘sack of wine’ and other quotes.
Strider’s list could have done with a ‘sword combat film’
Should've
300!
is django an action movie
Was thinking that myself. Of course a big shootout at the end, but doesn’t feel like a true ‘action film’ for me. What did you think ?
Fuckin Tombstone
im into the 4th round and no John Wick... dis - a - pointed
Hardcore Henry or Ong Bak should have been there.
But where was Inception & old boy
Sorry dudes last one, the best pick that wasn’t mentioned… fight club
Say what you want about the following two prequels….but the fight scene between Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi Wan vs. Darth Maul at the end of Phantom Menace was the coolest shit ever.
Chad had to help JT win, a metaphor for life, friends lifting friends! Boners!!!
Jackie Chan is the greatest action star of all time
Dude best action:
90s- Face Off
War theme- The Patriot
Sci-fi- Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Modern- John Wick 3
Kanye been real quiet since the new Do
Aaron is trippin balls right now, crouching tiger hidden dragon is the best pick artistically & directionally. May not be the first pick but you guys are drunk saying it’s not a stoker
Also no Jackie that’s harsh to leave him off an action list.
MI2 over Fallout??
..... "sick."
Chris wins
Troy??
